Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. You are correct. I forgot it was called something different on the Epic. I did quite a bit of research before booking Posh and I think I'll still enjoy it. I never once stepped foot in the hot tubs on the Getaway Vibe so for me no hot tubs isn't a deal breaker. I mostly like it for a quiet place to take in the views, enjoy lounging in the sun without fighting for a chair, and enjoying a drink or two.
  2. I added on the Vibe to our Epic cruise back in July and I was charged $199. It is a 7 night cruise on the Epic in February of 2024.
  3. I sailed on the Getaway back in April and had no problem eating GF. On the first day the specialty restaurants had staff outside of the restaurants with their menus and were assisting guests with making reservations. I stopped by to see if Le Bistro had any GF options since that was one of the restaurants DH and I had booked. The staff at the Le Bistro put in a call to Irwin, the dietary coordinator for my cruise, and he met up with my husband and I and explained how the process worked. He went over the main dining room menu with me for that night and I placed my order. When I arrived at the restaurant I always gave the hostess my card to scan instead of my husbands. A second slip of paper would print out that the person seating us would then give to the server to alert them of my allergy. They would immediately confirm the allergy and ask if I had pre-ordered my meal. Each night at the conclusion of our dinner Irwin would come over with the menus for the next day and I would order breakfast, lunch (if not in port), and dinner for the next day. When we weren't in the main dining room we ate at Le Bistro, Teppanyaki, O'Sheehan's, and Shanghai Noodle with no issues. Like someone previously stated we avoided the buffet for the most part. I did ask Irwin one day if pizza was available for lunch and he told me to go to the buffet and ask at the pizza area to make a GF pizza. It was no issue and the GF pizza was some of the best I've had. They had a pizza oven, but put the GF pizza on a pan to eliminate cross contamination. I was a little worried going into our cruise that I would be eating grilled chicken and broccoli the entire cruise, but I was pleasantly surprised!
  4. I too am a "control freak" and put a lot of planning into our vacations. When my husband and I decided to book our first overseas cruise I realized I wanted help booking international flights, hotels, and pre cruise activities. I had read a few horror stories from others who were not happy with their TAs, but I decided to take the leap anyway. We have two upcoming cruises booked with our agent and so far I am happy. I had a room picked out on the Royal Caribbean website and when I asked my TA to book it his price was lower than what was advertised on the website. It seems like he was able to book the exact room I wanted and not be charged the surcharge that RC charges you to select your room in advance. He also gave us a percentage discount and two different on board credits. Other than relying on him to make our deposit and final payment I haven't come across anything else that I've lost control over yet.
  5. We are getting off the Getaway this morning. I noticed I can view the Freestyle daily for the first day of your cruise. Have fun!
  6. The same thing happened to me, but I'm wondering if it might be because the Getaway is scheduled to arrive in Port Canaveral without passengers from New York. They won't have any passengers to disembark so the boat might be ready faster.
