  1. Looks like the dollar off rewards got updated. Sail by is now 2/28/25.

The $750 is gone. I'll wait and see if it comes back before purchasing again.

In the meantime, since it got changed anyone want to try to buy the $500 and see if it gets around the 180 day lockout? (Assuming you were locked out.) Although it will probably prevent you from getting the $750 off if it ever shows up again.

Also does anyone know if buying OBC, helps reach the threshold spend for these offer? if yes do OBC needed to be added at time of booking or we can do it afterwards on NCL website

I've done this a couple of times in the past. As far as I know you can only buy the OBC after booking and it has triggered the offer. I've bought as much as the max $1000 (2x$500) in refundable OBC and gotten the amount refunded while onboard in cash. They only let you do it towards the end of the cruise. It's basically a gift to yourself when you buy it.

The CHAT feature was not live so I called the toll free Amex 1-877-932-4259.

That number is for HAL, not AMEX. The terms I got for my offer is the same as the OP except for the amounts. If you did call Amex there's clearly a miscommunication somewhere. Maybe they got it confused with the Amex Platinum cruise perk. You need to add the Amex Offer to get it and if you don't see it to add it, you're out of luck.

    From the terms:

" Amex Offers are available for varying and limited periods of time and are dynamic and personalized. If you navigate away from the Amex Offers page, you may see different offers when you return."

It's best to log into your Amex account with a browser to see as many offers as you can since the app has some limitations. If you only see 100 available offers, you'll need to add them all to see beyond that, logging off and back on to see the new offers. I have hundreds of offers that I've added so I can be sure I'm seeing all available offers. Even with doing that sometimes other people get cruise offers I don't have.

  4. They had a match a while back that I didn't qualify for since I sailed with Royal recently. The terms are here: https://www.clubroyaleoffers.com/TermsAndConditions.asp

I can't seem to find the form though. Maybe they ended it. Carnival/Princess/Holland America will also do a match through an online form.

I have third highest status (Ruby) on NCL vs Prime on Royal and I agree with others. The perks seem better and they are way more transparent on what you get as far as offers. I have already booked 4 cruises off one cruise getting Prime and new offers keep showing up. I get emails and I can find them online with this: https://clubroyaleoffers.com/PlayerLookup.asp NCL's Casino program feels like a chore to deal with. There's that stupid NCL admin fee of $20 per person per day they charge for comp cruises too.

  5. It's happened a couple of times to me. My own personal experience is it seems NCL drags their feet and only when enough people complain and escalate the issue and after hearing back from HQ, they will give you something. Sometimes they do nothing as if they're doing you a favor by giving you an alternative port, extra sea day, etc.

I was so surprised when I was on a Royal cruise and when they announced a change they immediately had compensation as part of it. It's almost like they already had a plan in place for this situation. People can point to the cruise contract and say this happens a lot but it seems to me NCL doesn't handle this as well as Royal.

Does anyone know what happens to the port fees, taxes, and expenses when a ship skips a port? Are we eating the cost and the cruise line pocketing any of it?

  6. I use this https://clubroyaleoffers.com/ but I'm finding it's better to call to book. I used the redeem form but it's been over a day. I wonder if the spots are filling up while I wait. But I find I see offers on the website before I get the email.

Also, it looks like some offers you can book yourself on the website. The offer type:

"AVAILABLE FOR ONLINE BOOKINGS THROUGH RCCL.COM" I haven't done it but is there a downside to doing this instead of calling?

So far I've booked every offer (4), am I blowing up my player rating for future offers? This is after earning Prime on my last cruise for the first time ever. I haven't taken a cruise since.

  7. I just booked a flight on Delta to my NCL cruise... so why wouldn't they do these offers? Maybe it's just Delta's decision. How about Hilton cards? People do stay at hotels before and after cruises.

Do the Delta cards have any travel offers? Hotels/Resorts/Car rentals? Probably not other airlines since they are direct competition.

I have Amex Gold and received $250 off $1000.  I just paid my cruise in full last night though and didn’t have this offer then. Wonder if they’ll let me change the payment type? Never hurts to ask.

I'm not saying it'll work in this case but you can try at your own risk. I've bought refundable OBC and it's worked for me in the past for Royal, Carnival, and Norwegian offers. When I'm onboard I just get the refund in cash.

  9. It sounds like you're drawing a distinction between the reservation sail date vs. reward "purchase" date vs redemption date. This is typical myVEGAS. They have done the same for RCL comp cruises and those predates the recent NCL ones.

I've given up trying to time the rewards. I just get what I can and book right away because this kind of thing comes up. The downside is you can't maximize your value sometimes. I book a comp cruise only to have a better one come up shortly later but I'm in that dreaded 180 day period.

  10. There are no direct links or codes. I still get them even though I've used them many times before, especially for NCL. It doesn't have to be a card that has an annual fee. Being an authorized user doesn't disqualify you. It's one offer per account so if you have multiple cards it will disappear from the other cards once you add it. It's mostly in the US but occasionally I hear people with cards from other countries getting their version of the offer.

They are targeted but I haven't heard of anyone breaking the code on why some get an offer while others don't. However, make sure you can see more than 100 offers at a time. In the app, it's limited and you might not be seeing all the offers. Log in with a browser to make sure you are seeing all of them especially if there are over 100 offers. I typically have over 300 offers at a time and try to add them all so I can see everything that's available.

  11. Beverage package terms say "fountain" soda but in practice they don't care and will give you the stuff out of the cans (Sprite, Sprite Zero, Coke Zero, etc.).  They seem to run out of Coke Zero so sometimes I have to wait till they resupply or go to a different bar to hunt it down.

Asking for the cans is what I prefer so I can stock up in my room and for excursions. Most of the time it will be cold but not always. Some places will refuse this but I just ask another bartender and usually can get them. Sometimes they will pop the tab slightly and give them to me. I've never had a problem with them giving me hard seltzer cans (Truly/Vizzy) without opening them.

I've also heard but do at your own risk that if you ask for Coke or Diet Coke which comes out of the fountain, they will not even card you.  Usually the pool deck or some place with a lot of people.

Europe sailings you might be shorted getting the can because they are slightly smaller.

They don't seem to care about the liters of soda I bring onboard from port stops. Even after opening and drinking some. The most I've brought on were two 2 liter bottles in a backpack. The security person acknowledged them but let me keep them. This is the same on Royal and Carnival.

I will never drink out of the tap because I doubt they have every tested the water coming out of my cabin tap. The situation would be different for the buffet/restaurant/bar water. Same with ice cubes.

  12. They aren't very good with details and consistency. They are a good match for NCL.

On the myVIP site it says:

"NCL - Evergreen Campaign rewards are limited to 1 purchases in a 180 day period."

and for the same reward says this in the Terms and Conditions:

"Limited to one Norwegian Cruise Line reward in-app purchase every 60 days. "

I wouldn't be surprised if at some point they allow the purchase before 180 days. For me, I'm just going to periodically try and hope NCL lets me use it if I get one.

are you playing table games or slots? either way, a 40K actual loss should earn 3K+ in comps based on my primitive calculations and without knowing the length of the cruise, how long you played or the theo of the machines/games.

All slots, all charged to my room. They gave me 2k comps on 40k loss so they probably didn't even consider overall play. 15 day transatlantic on the Prima. Virtually zero historical play. I think I did maybe about $200 in slots a few years ago.

are you drawing a distinction between CAS tiers and saying that the waiving of convenience fees is different between tiers? or are you saying that all convenience fees waived are charged against comps at the end of the cruise?

I started with 0 points so I figure they should at the very least waive any convenience fees after I made Sapphire on the cruise since that's part of the perk. They instead will only do it starting the next cruise. It didn't matter that I had 40k in losses by the end of the cruise and went beyond Ruby status in points. Apparently I was 1 of 3 Rubies and only 1 Elite on the cruise. I'm drawing a distinction between waiving the fees vs comping them at the end based on play. I'm annoyed because they counted the fees towards the comp at the end of the cruise so I ended up paying for some onboard charges out of pocket.

  15. I went from 0 to Ruby on my last cruise. Annoyingly they couldn't tell me which offers are available. I just called in and they don't provide a "list" like Royal or I can go online and see like with Carnival/Royal. Also, I racked up a lot of convenience charges and they took them off but considered it a comp so I ended up having to pay some other onboard charges out of pocket. Based on my losses they appeared to comp 5% but 3% of that are convenience fees. They wouldn't even consider the convenience fees after Sapphire as waived. The hosts on the Prima weren't very friendly. No warm and fuzzies on that cruise. When I called to book my next cruises (B2B) for June, the rep didn't seem too familiar with Ruby status benefits. I guess all this is normal for Casinos at Sea and NCL in general.

There's nothing on my reservations to indication the OBC, Unlimited Internet for 1 device, or Open Bar. Am I going to have issues getting these if they don't show up ahead of time? Are people seeing these on the reservation 2 weeks before cruising like someone said? How much OBC can I expect for a 7 day cruise?
