  1. You are fortunate with the extras and obc. But in a straight price in UK, every cruise line is, way over the ncl price and offer less. Not sure what high end drinks you like but all the included spirits and wine and beer offerings are fine on ncl, unless you are a vodka and whiskey conesseuer and drink them neat or consume champagne. But as I said each to their own - and apart from the occasional brain fade ncl have been excellent over the years. All things change and a good friend who recently took a princess cruise in Australia said the food was poor and the ship falling apart😳
  2. Sorry fat fingers. It's 10 days as are the princess ones straight off their website. Been on msc, drinks are low grade brands. Not sure where you get your information. The ncl and beverage plus are for the same level of drink and at 15 dollar level, the even if you add the 15 dollar gratuity which I dont it's still half the price. Internet included is 150 minutes not sure where 300comes from. Unless princess are offering deals then it's way cheaper on Ncl for the package and with just as good a range of booze.
  3. We as you advised I have had a look at princess plus and premier. The cost of plus would be gbp 618 for 20 days compared to 149 with ncl, which includes a meal package, Internet and shore excursion discount. Not sure that's in any way comparable. The premier one would be 1060 pounds. If I want to drink high end spirits such as baileys and hendriks it would be way cheaper to pay the extra on NCL. But each to their own.
  4. I doubt ncl will worry too much, yes they have tried to put it right now. We will never know why they tried it on. However as they state on their corporate site they are running at 103 percent occupancy on forward bookings I don't think a few folk changing lines or cancelling cruises will upset them. They are still easily the cheapest booze add on offering on the market plus the other 3 things included.
  5. There wasn't one, there was on my last cruise in January, but as I said it was a dead ship as far as the officers went, particularly the captain.
  6. I'm afraid that NCL's officers have become invisible. The last cruise I was on before the star was effectively a ghost ship, useless cruise director - invisible, Captain invisible and so on. The staff were lovely but I think the officers no longer want to engage.
  7. Was in trieste, mykonos and santorini last year with absolutely no problem on the NCL Dawn.
  8. At the moment it's a UK port problem with no booze. Various ports around the world get NCL and other cruise line to collect taxes when in port, even on package supplies. New York, Miami, for sure because I have been charged. Spanish ports do the same apparently and Greece has been banning it to persuade folk off ships and spend in port. There are stories of Italian ports banning some hard spirits. However I was in Greek and Italian ports with NCL last year and had no problems.
  9. No, not offered, just no booze in UK ports full stop. If they had offered it this thread wouldn't exist
  10. I am not saying NCL are evil. NCL cruises are good value and usually very good. However if you pay for a package that is including alcohol and only told when you embark that it will not be available and NCL refuse to acknowledge the problem or refund the portion of the package fee that is not right. Sadly it is common in today's world that slers think they can not supply what the customer has paid for with no recourse. I have 2 more cruises booked with NCL and have deposits which commit me to 4 more. But I like to receive what I pay for or a full explanation and refund when I don't.
  11. They admitted that it was an administrative bungle relating to the way UK booze duty is handled. They were trying to fix it. Have they? Don't know and won't find out as it won't affect us again unless I want a bloody Mary on disembarkation day. Some folk have indicated it may have been fixed on the Dawn now. But I can't comment on that either.
  12. I am along with 2000 other pretty angry folk. I had dinner with the officers last night and this was discussed. Not resolved though. I don't comment on things I am not being affected by.
  13. Actually, when I go on holiday and my ininersry and paid for extras I expect to get exactly what I pay for. Ncl have made a mess of this. It's not the end of the world but it immediately spoils the cruise. It may not matter to you but then you will be in a tiny minority.
  14. They are not serving alcohol in any UK port, although they are supposedly fixing it. It makes no difference if its a tender port or not.
  15. This is exactly the explanation given at dinner last night from someone with insight at a high level. It relates to the differing duty rates on different types of booze in the UK. The vat is no problem, but the didn't take account of the duty. Someone has dropped the ball and it is being fixed apparently. Let's hope so.
