  1. Hi. I think I could give you a run for fussy. I’m currently onboard and it may have been me with the spaghetti bolognaise. As I am really fussy and also gluten free the head waiter gives me the menu each night for the following day lunch and dinner. I can then see if there is anything on that I like. If not I just ask for something else and they have been very accommodating! Head waiter is amazing. So no need to struggle with the menus.
  2. We normally sail out and fly back. We hire a car one way to Southampton drop this off at the hire centre and usually the hire company drop us off at the port. We then stay at a hotel at Heathrow on way home and then get the train home the following day. We have also driven to the airport hotel and parked our car there. We then took the bus to Southampton and also have done a taxi to Southampton. The car is then at the airport when we fly back. If I was flying out I think I would get the train to the airport if that was an option for you. Then hire a car from Southampton home. Suppose it depends where you are based and if you have trains as an option. Hope this helps.
  3. Hi. I restrict my gluten but not Coeliac. So when I’m on the ships I will always pick the gluten free options when available. I was last on Queen Mary 2 in June and in the Britannia on several nights there were actually a couple of options on the main menu that were GF. These were really very good. I was very surprised as previously the only GF options were mousse type desserts but on this occasion they had made a very good cakes and pastries. They did then let themselves down a bit as a few nights there weren’t any of these lovely options. But we asked for the previous nights and although it may not have come with all the accompanying sauces etc the main part was available. With regard to the scones I didn’t try any as they had them in wrappers and I had previously tried these and found they were just bought in and not freshly baked. This may have changed. Also in the pub I don’t remember seeing any GF options. I eat the fish and chips but remove the batter. I know this isn’t an option for you but if you email Cunard they will confirm to you your options. I would speak to the Maitre’d to confirm your requirements at the start to make sure that you get the menu in advance so you can request specific options from the following days menu. hope you enjoy it
  4. It all depends on where your cabin is on a rough crossing. The QM2 really is magnificent in rough seas. However, if your on deck 12 in cabin 12001 that isn’t going to work as well as say 4124 if you get my point. We did a December crossing and absolutely loved it. A proper transatlantic crossing on an ocean liner doing what it is designed to do.
  5. Hello I’m not sure if anyone can help me. I am trying to find out the frequency that the QM2 has been diverted en route to New York resulting in a late arrival. Does anyone know if there is a website showing this information? We have been diverted on 2 out of our last 3 crossings and wanted to see if we were just unlucky! Thanks
