Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Sailing on the Encore for our Alaskan cruise April 28 - May 5. Have scheduled air through Norwegian. Flying in 1 day early. On disembarkation day they scheduled us on flight flying out of Seattle at 10:49 AM. I know the standard rule is to not book a departure flight before noon. Since THEY booked this for us will they make an effort to get us off the ship in time to make the flight? What happens if they don't? Since they booked it, do they find us another? We did purchase the travel insurance, not sure if that applies in a case like this. Probably over worrying, but just looking for feedback.
  2. All of those things come into play. Just looking for thoughts. We may even decide to spend another day in Seattle. Right now everything is on the table.
  3. Booked on the Encore for April 28 - May 5 next year Alaska. Wanting to get to Seattle a day ahead to look around Seattle a little and be assured of no "problems" with timing . May be switching from the second person flies free that NCL is offering and scheduling our own flights. Arriving in Seattle is no issue, but with the ship arriving back in Seattle at 6AM on the morning of the 5th what would be the earliest flight I would dare schedule? There is one at 11AM, but that may be pushing it. This is our first cruise and we are in a regular balcony cabin. Not sure how complicated disembarking is.
  4. Sailing next April on the Encore to Alaska. We like the idea of having a glass of wine or two on our balcony. Other than room service or the stocked fridge (mini bar) how do you get drinks to have in your cabin?
  5. Reading more and more about the Vancouver terminal is a bit of a nightmare.
  6. Right now my wife and I are booked on the Encore for next April 28 - May 5. Departing from Seattle with stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Victoria, and back to Seattle. We will have passports. After reading more on Alaskan cruises on here I am wondering if a different cruise leaving out of Vancouver stopping in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, then ending in Seward, and I'm guessing we would fly out of Anchorage. This is roughly the same time frame. We are all about scenery, and Seward looks pretty gook. Trip price is pretty much a wash, so that is no issue. With the Jewel being a smaller ship I hear that can be desirable. Both trips sound amazing. Just was wondering what you cruise veterans think? Oh, and I did ask Norwegian, we wouldn't be losing any of our deposit money, that's something I was concerned about.
  7. Been to Seattle before. Not worried about hotel right now. Looking mostly for peoples experiences with a day early arrival, and what time they arrived.
  8. Haven't booked hotel package. We're just tossing this about in our head right now.
  9. Recently booked NCL 7 day Alaskan cruise on the Encore for 4/28 - 5-/5 of 2024. First time cruisers. Flights will be booked by NCL (second flyer free promo). We are debating requesting a day early flight into Seattle. Less stress about getting there in time, and hopefully a chance to look around Seattle a bit. I'm aware we will lose airport transportation into town (no big deal as they refund a portion of that cost). My bigger question is to whether you can get booked early enough the preceding day to have some time into Seattle. If they book us on a flight that arrives there at 10:00 at night there really isn't much of a point. Anyone out there have any experience with this? Thanks
  10. Thanks to all that responded. After discussion with my wife we think we are just going to pull the trigger and get passports.
  11. This is my license. Also there is a flag next to my pick.
  12. My current Michigan license says enhanced drivers license above my picture with an American flag by my picture, it also has a gold circle with white star in it in the upper right corner.
  13. I pointed out the real ID since I thought some thing more than just a drivers license is required. Sounds like license and birth certificate will work.
  14. My wife and I just booked Norwegian Encore for April 28 - May 5 next year to Alaska. Sailing out of Seattle and returning. Our first cruise ever. We are quite excited. One thing I am wondering about is whether or not we should spring for passports. I know they are not "required", but I've heard they are nice to have "just in case". I also know they are going to run us approximately $350. We only have one Canada stop, which is on our last night. We more than likely will not be doing ANY international traveling any time soon, if at all, so if we got them it was only be for possible emergencies that could arise. Have any others went without on their cruises? Were there any issues? Also should point out we both have the "real ID's" (gold star on license).
