Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Will you pay for my non-refundable International airfare to Athens? If so, please DM me.
  2. Correct they don't have an obligation but a good business leader goes above and beyond to treat customers well. I ran a business and yes, at times, I dug into my pockets and profits to treat customers right. Did you forget about Covid shutdowns? Did you pay for things in advance. Perhaps education classes, music lessons, golf lessons, dance lessons etc.? You purchased a package. I can't think think of anyone who didn't get their money refunded. I don't care that they have staff to pay, fuel to pay, insurance to pay. That's a business responsibility. I don't have any obligation to bail them out of my pocket. When they make excessive profits, do they share them with passengers? NO! BTW, please send me your address so I can send you the bill for my non-refundable International airfare to Athens.
  3. I just off the phone with Celebrity. They told me 100% refunds are available, not 90%. Was willing to process mine at 100% now. Yes I know others got 90% from them, I just was told 100% refunds. And of course, rebook another cruise with all fees waived. But no additional OBC, discounts, upgrades etc. I also asked if excursions will be on sale as they were a few months ago, 40% off. That's a big unknown. They could really hit us with expensive excursions as many were on sale at 40% off and I booked a bunch then. This time, I suspect they will use the new excursions at full fare so more $ out of pocket.
  4. For the life of me, I can't figure out why Celebrity is taking people's money to book this cruise. Right now you can book a cabin and the original itinerary is there.
  5. Yes on the Oct 16 cruise. Not sure what site you are referring to and shall not be named. We are a group of 6 so many are pondering next steps
  6. Israel was canceled 10/7 before Israel declared war on 10/8, Egypt is not at war. It was a terrorist. event maybe, or just a targeted killing. No doubt insurance companies will be arguing this. FWIW, I was on Ovation of the Seas when passengers were lost due to the White Island volcano. Half the ports were missed. Cruise insurance did not cover any of it. Although Volcano's were a named covered peril, the insurance companies stated the ship left and returned from the same port as scheduled and same number of days therefore no coverage. In summary, it could have gone in circles for 12 days and the itineraries didn't matter. They have good lawyers
  7. Very disturbing...The Pyramids were my primary reason for this trip, Israel second. Been to Turkey and Athens and other parts of Greece. I understand why Celebrity did this with the Alexandria killings but the main purpose of the cruise is now gone. Sure wish Celebrity would communicate options
  8. I have no idea as I cannot reach my travel agent today. Email notice does not mention any FCC or refunds. Are you on Oct 16 voyage?
  9. Just informed that Celebrity Apex cancelled the Alexandria port due to the terrorist issue in Alexandria on Oct 8, 2023. This follows the cancellation of Israel due to the terrorism on Oct 7 2023. The revised ports are not quite as exciting. Any other cruisers on the Apex sailings currently in process (Oct. 6) or the upcoming one on October 16 have any thoughts? Undecided here about embarking on the Oct 16 cruise.
  10. For Apex passengers in October 6 and 16, 2023, sailings Egypt has been cancelled. The visa issue is not of any value now. Ugh
  11. I just got through to Visa Central by phone and Sully at VC (They are really CIBT as CIBT did the telephone survey after the call) stated that Celebrity will handle the Visa's for everyone for Egypt upon arrival. Hope that helps...
  12. I came across this thread for the same issue. On Celebrity and stopping in Egypt too. On VISA CENTRAL web page for Egypt, it has this note.... "When you are on a Celebrity Cruise and transiting a Turkey Port of Call aboard a Celebrity Cruises ship A visa is not required to travel to this destination." Since our ship is going to Turkey after Egypt we don't need a Visa? This is very confusing. Or does Turkey get visited first? Or does it matter? Can't believe Celebrity is silent on this and sends us over toe Visa Central who wants $170, which is absurd
