We are booked on the 16th January Muscat-Dubai cruise and we have heard absolutely nothing from Silversea regarding a cancellation. We are due to fly to the region this Thursday for a 5 night pre-cruise tour (independently arranged).......

Thank you for the updates. My TA called Silversea this morning and they said that they have not been advised of any changes to the 16th January itinerary. It sounds like we may know more tomorrow when the ship reaches Jeddah.....

The Captain's comments, as reported by gypsyjennifer1, are extremely worrying. Massive thanks to those passengers currently onboard for keeping us updated. It is extremely late in the day to make wholesale changes to the 16th January cruise itinerary! I have asked our TA to see what she can find out.....

In light of insurance implications and the threat to crew/passenger safety, will Silversea actually proceed with the plan to send the Moon through the dangerous Bab al-Mandab Strait on 11/12 January? It seems that no other cruise ship has attempted this journey since the Houthi rebels began launching attacks on shipping in the area. 2. How long might it take Silversea to inform passengers that they will not be able to reach Muscat as planned? A swift and transparent decision is required. A separate thread ("Silver Moon sailing 6 January") highlights the importance of such transparent communications. We are scheduled to board the 16 January cruise from Muscat to Dubai. We really hope that this trip happens, but we have our doubts....

We are due to board Silver Moon in Muscat on 16 January. We know that the previous cruise will depart from Jordan on 6 January, but will it, in fact, be able to complete its journey to Muscat as scheduled? It entails making the passage via the dangerous Bab al-Mandab Strait. Has any cruise ship actually undertaken this risky journey since the rebels began launching their attacks? We certainly do not envy Silversea having to face this decision, but the clock is ticking. Passengers will require clear information.....
