Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I questioned having just a brown tag & was told they know those bags go to Princess Denali Lodge & I don’t need the Join Me tags. They understood I questioned that because of the FAQ on their website.
  2. I do have instructions on where to meet. Got it straightened out. Supervisor said both pieces of luggage go to lodge - 1 does not need to go to Hotel Captain Cook. I was just trying to follow the FAQ answers on their website.
  3. Can anyone confirm that the below luggage tag instructions are still valid? I’m currently on the Sapphire Princess & I head to the Princess Denali Lodge tomorrow via the Denali Express. I was given 1 brown tag & that’s it. I’ve already been to the Guest Service desk 2x they told me to go to the excursion desk & they sent me back to Guest Services & was told the brown tag was all I needed. I even tried Guest Chat & they referred me to Guest Services. Thanks fir any advice. "Join Me Tonight" Luggage You are allowed one piece of "Join Me Tonight" baggage per person on the land portion of your cruisetour. You will simply pack one bag and place luggage where instructed. Our handlers will pick it up and deliver it to your room at the next overnight location on your land tour. This bag will be transported separately from you and will not be accessible during transit. Items to put in this bag include clothing, sleepwear, nonessential toiletries, extra shoes and anything else you might need at your hotel but do not need access to during the day. "Join Me Onboard" Luggage (for guests who cruise after their land tour) Guests who cruise after their land tour should pack a separate bag for items they will not need on land. This bag is perfect for the items you may need on your cruise but will not need on your land tour, such as formal wear, dress shoes, or dinner jackets. On the land portion of your cruisetour, the dress code is always casual so there is no need for any formal wear. All luggage is delivered to the first destination on your land itinerary. Upon departure from that city, the "Join Me Onboard" tagged bags will be securely stored until they are delivered to your stateroom onboard. "Join Me in Fairbanks/Anchorage" Luggage (for guests who cruise prior to their land tour) Guests who cruise prior to their land tour should pack all the items they used on their cruise and will not need on land in this piece of luggage. After disembarkation from the ship, these bags will be inaccessible until delivered upon your arrival in the final destination of your itinerary. Please identify your chosen pieces of luggage (excluding the one "Join Me Tonight" bag) with the "Join Me" tags based on your final destination.
  4. I considered not going to the enrichment talk on “Alaska's Mighty Glaciers" but I will. Sandra Schemp is excellent.
  5. I’m on this cruise & just rec’d notification that my original excursion scheduled for 11:45 has been rescheduled to 4:35 so I’m happy about that. I’m an experienced world traveler (but a 1st time cruiser) for almost 50 yrs & always do research & google stuff & lots of my questions were answered by people here. I appreciate those of you that truly want to help people but some of the posters here I have found to be rather elitist & judgmental. We’re all extremely lucky, blessed & privileged to be able to travel. As an aside someone here recommended the Milky Way Martini & I had it tonight at dinner & it was so good I had another one (right after learning Glacier Bay was cancelled)!
  6. Ideally, in a perfect world, passengers should have been given the option. But we live in a world where corporations care more about $. It’s not the same thing but during the Spring Revolutions I had a land trip scheduled in March to Tunisia & everything hit the fan in December & continued to get worse. I kept getting the same script when I called but the day I read there were Tunisian army snipers on rooftops in Tunis I called & asked to be put on a Sicily tour in May which the company did.
  7. I’m also one of the passengers currently on the Sapphire. I’ve traveled on land for almost 50 yrs so know to always expect the unexpected & go w/the flow. This is my 1st real cruise & at this point I’ll just be happy to see Glacier Bay. The trip started out promising since 1/2 day before I left I was upgraded from an interior cabin to one with a nice window view. I’m very grateful for that now. I won’t go into detail about the cascading series of events on travel day - suffice to say my connecting airport was Atlanta w/flights being cancelled/delayed for bad weather. I left the day before embarkation & did eventually get to Vancouver. I will say because we were the only ship, the whole process of getting on board was easy & smooth. Crew is great & I’ve met some very nice people on board. I am taking the land portion to Denali National Park so hopefully that’ll work out better. Yeah I’m disappointed but it’s all out of my control (except for my attitude)
  8. Yes. I originally booked a whale watching excursion in Juneau on a boat that I think holds about 200 people but really wanted the smaller boat for about 20 people. I waitlisted that excursion and a few months later got an email if I still wanted it to pay the difference & did so. Have to admit I was surprised but very happy.
  9. @Drew B 58 I totally agree. That’s exactly how I justified adding the Plus package. I’m not a cruiser (last cruise was a 4 day family cruise 30 yrs ago) I’m a land vacationer. My Alaska cruise/land tour is a belated retirement celebration (4 yrs ago) & to celebrate my 70th Birthday next month, It’s a well deserved treat & life celebration. 🥳🎉🥂
