  1. What is made up? The scenario I proposed in the OP certainly isn't... it looks like it could happen so it is worth discussing IMO. 🙂
  2. To be honest... I wouldn't expect the full "retail" cost to be refunded... but there should be something to recognise their error and by way of apology.
  3. I agree... I wouldn't expect it unless there were no times at all available 🙂
  4. If I have already bought it as part of my cruise fare then there in nothing I can do except cancel and rebuy... but I take your point 🙂 It is a risk either way I suppose 🙂
  5. I have seen a number of posts saying that the app did recognise that they have the package but it wasn't reflected until the final stage in booking. I have also heard that with some people it didn't recognise that and they had to get the refund onboard. The app is very inconsistent in its operation I have found.
  6. I know that if you order a bottle of wine in the MDR and you don't drink it all at that meal then, if you ask the waiter, they will store it for you and retrieve it at your next meal. I have done this a few times and it works quite well although retrieval can take a little while sometimes. What happens if I buy a bottle in Vines, or at another bar? Can I ask them to do the same? What if I bought a bottle in the MDR and store d it but the next day I was in a bar and wanted my bottle retrieved... can I ask for that? I am going to try to buy some of the better wines on my next cruise but don't really want to just restrict me to the MDR to drink them 🙂 Any advice appreciated 🙂
  7. There is one disadvantage for not taking the package pre-cruise and that is that it means you then cannot take advantage of any offers that might be available from your TA. I booked a cruise for November this year... the offer was Premier for the price of Plus. As we were likely to get Premier anyway it made it quite a bit cheaper as it is a 12 day cruise. I do accept that buying it on board is a great way to do it for all the reasons stated and if there are no offers like this one then we will likely buy on board in future 🙂
  8. Love my wrist band. For me it is the only way.
  9. Yes I know! But my DW has a big problem eating late. I won't go into details but if we do then we pretty much don't sleep for that night 😮 . I am fine eating later. It is frustrating for her too because she used to live in Spain where eating late is the norm. The good thing though is that after we have eaten it doesn't stop either of us having a few drinks in the rest of the evening 🙂
  10. Thanks. As I said, I am not really concerned for us. It was more of a theoretical question as it could happen 🙂
  11. Sky and 10 days time. There were a few available at 9.10pm in 2 of the 3 restaurants when I first looked... we have to dine no later than 7.
  12. And how many of those 60 were there speciality dining included in the Premier Package... can't be many.
  13. I don't expect it to happen to us tbh. Especially as we board early and can get to make bookings on board quite early on day 1. But someone else might not be so lucky. If it did happen to me then I'd be happy with anything they could find.
  14. Me too 🙂 It will be my first cruise since they introduced Catch on Sky. I sail in 10 days so I suppose I'll find out 🙂 Thanks for everyone's input/comments 😄
  15. I suppose they could insist that we have it in our room perhaps?
  16. Certainly it is in the T&Cs that they can allocate the restaurant and time. I don't have a problem with that as it is stipulated prior to me booking.
  17. If you are diabetic then you know in advance of purchase that you cannot have them so again... your choice. I think it would be difficult to justify compensation if the restaurant of your choice is not available but another is as the T&Cs don't specify that it is a specialty meal in a restaurant of your choice. I may have options when they open but I an asking about what if there is not option. I say that if they say it is included then we should be able to get it of get compensation.
  18. The difference is that with the items you mention not using them is my choice... it is a case of use it or lose it and that is fair enough. But if the speciality restaurants are full that is not my choice... it is the fault of Princess... charging me for something that I was not able to get.
  19. Now that there are 2 speciality dining meals included in the Premier cruise fare I am finding that getting bookings before the cruise is turning out to be impossible. It got me thinking what would happen if I had a Premier cruise fare and I couldn't get a booking in a speciality restaurant at any point on the cruise? Surely I should be entitled to some compensation for not getting what I paid for? Has this happened to anyone yet?
  20. Correct... if you buy the full package. But what you forget is that there is another package you can buy... the Beverage package. It is called the Plus Beverage Package or the Premier Beverage package... they are different to the full cruise packages you are talking about. The full Plus Package... the one that includes the wifi, CA etc... is not the Plus Beverage Package. That is why it is so confusing.
  21. It is confusing. No, I think you can still upgrade your cruise package to Plus or Premier, either before the cruise through the cruise personalizer or on board on the 1st or 2nd day of the cruise. This is why it is so confusing... because you can also buy the Plus or Premier Beverage Package on board instead... they are different as they don't include all the extras. Why anyone would just add the to just the Beverage package instead of upgrading your cruise package I don't know. It is kinda explained here but it isn't clear is it. https://www.princess.com/en-uk/cruise-deals-promotions/plus-premier-cruise-packages#:~:text=Yes.,second day of your voyage.
  22. At $53 instead of what it was at $39 I won't be having speciality dining at all. Another nail in the coffin for Princess IMO.
  23. I agree... the beverage packages are poor value when compared to the cruise package of the same name.
