Hello. We are on the 8 & 6 night Independence B2B cruises.
Would be happy to report back on any concerns or questions.
We are only at the Gold level in a D2 balcony so will not experience anything related to suites or high C & A.
Glad to look at kids club but, again won't experience it ourselves.
Leaving on Friday (November 21). Expect to have wifi on Wednesday, 26th and could check in then. Also, hope to have wi fi (at least for an hour or so) on Wednesday, December 3rd. If not, I will for sure report back when I return.
I don't think that I will post pictures so, sorry, no menus or dailies. But I can take notes.

Hello fellow Torontonian!
We are on the 8 night Indy sailing on November 22. We are fairly close in age to your parents and aunt, but, thankfully do not have their mobility issues.
Would be happy to check out any questions or concerns you might have. Please list and we will respond. Planning on posting from St. Kitts and then in Falmouth on our 2nd week. And, of course, from home after December 6th.
Looking so forward our cruise.

50's and 70's parties in the Centrum. Glass everywhere - loved the seaview elevators! Outdoor seating in the Windjammer. Patio type tables on the balconies.
Enjoy - loved the Jewel!

That bugs me! I did not type the above - I typed - "Two funny guys" were on Indy last November - Hilarious!
Hate when I don't notice the imp in my iPad changing my words

Hello there,
We are moving two decks up and I think I would prefer to move our stuff ourselves. So you say they will bring a trolley for us. Does this trolley have a bar to hang your clothes on from the closet?
Thanks in advance for the info. :)
Yes, the trolley had a bar where we hung our hanger clothes. It was like the trolleys in hotels.

Super easy to make the changeover. We moved 5 cabins down the hall on the Jewel of the Seas last November. Two different stewards.
Talked to both stewards a few days before changeover. 2nd steward said he would do our cabin ASAP in the morning. Sure enough, we returned from breakfast and it was ready for us.
We asked if we could move ourselves because we had plenty of time before we had to report for disembarkation. Of course they were quite happy about that. They got the trolley for us and we were packed, moved and unpacked within the hour (if that)! Rest of the day was ours!
Enjoy!

This is going to be a very enjoyable review - I can tell already!

It is nice to know about the special exit line. Are taxis close to go into town? I enjoy the free trolley downtown and can do that for a couple of laps. I'm thinking if the weather is crummy we may go into town otherwise we'll just chill on our balcony and smile big time!
We went into town on our turnaround day. Lots of taxis right at the port. We shared with another couple who were also going into town. Cut the cost a bit.

Were the high tables on Jewell? I have leg problems and the chairs are so hard on me in a high chair. Love the idea of having lunch on the balcony when in port.
Yes, the table was a standard table height with regular patio chairs. Very comfortable. Never had that kind of table before on a cruise - like our patio table at home but, of course, smaller diameter.

Thanks for the menu update. We might have had the crab cakes last year. Cannot remember exactly but we really like them so it is possible. Won't try the fish cakes!

We had a small sized patio table on our balcony on the Jewel with 2 chairs and also a lounger (think we were just lucky on that!) and we often picked up lunch at the Windjammer, poured a glass of our own wine and enjoyed lunch on our balcony both in port and a couple of times while sailing. It was Wonderful!!!!!!!
First time we have had a high table on a ship. Going on the Indy next month and we will be back to the tiny low table.
Loved the Jewel of the Seas! Loved the B2B! Enjoy!

Does your ship leave at 5 or is all aboard time 5? Generally speaking I find that all aboard time is 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time that the ship is set to depart.
Our departure time is 6 and all aboard time is 5:30 but we always consider the latest as an hour before sailing.
Thanks also for the bridge opening times. Will copy and save.
Quite sure now that we are going to Karakter again this year.

Thanks. We need to be back at the ship by 5 p.m. Will be bussing it to Phillipsburg and then walk to the port. If we leave Simpson bay beach at 3 p.m., I would assume we will be okay. Anyone disagree?

Last year when we were planning our day in St. Maarten, there was talk about the new bridge and whether we might need to leave the beach earlier to get back to the ship on time.
Can't find any update on this. Anyone know?

If you are moving staterooms, talk with both stateroom attendants so you can find out their method for moving your things, and how soon you can get into the new stateroom.
We learned this on CC last year and it worked very well. We were moved and unpacked in new stateroom well before we even had to vacate the ship for zero count. The rest of the day was ours to enjoy. Both attendants were very cooperative.
Enjoy your B2B.

Oh, yes there are!!!

Thanks. Still trying to decide between Divi and Karacter bar at Sumpson bay that we were at last year. So much easier to get to Divi but did really enjoy Karakter.

Did you use the local bus or taxi?

Anyone know if the CVS near the port carries Wine? Will need to pick up the allowed 2 bottles of wine for our second leg of a B2B. I know they will most likely confiscate it when we reboard the ship but will give it back just before the second cruise.
Thanks.

We did a B2B on Jewel last November and moved just about 5 cabins down for the second leg. Told our first attendant and then talked to our attendant for second leg. We were told to pack everything that was not hanging and they would move it.
However, the second cabin was obviously vacated very early and was made up for us by about 8:30 or so. We found a hotel cart and moved all our belongings ourselves. SO easy!
Needless to say they were thrilled! We were packed, moved and unpacked before we had to meet to leave the ship for the 5 minutes to have the ship get to zero count. No problems at all.
This year we are again doing a B2B on Indy but no change of cabin so even easier. LOVE B2B!
Enjoy!

Will be happy to check it all out for you. Just not sure about Americanized - do you mean that while she was in Europe the merchandise was European brands rather than American? I will look, but not being a "shopper", I have never looked at the shops for more than a walk through.
Pennielz and mcgore83 - also very excited!
