  1. Hi Lois,

I take a 21 inch bag on my trips plus a lightweight tote for things like medications, cosmetics, small items that don't fit in the suitcase. I need a bag I can handle. I have different size totes depending on what doesn't go into the suitcase.  Also if I'm taking a flight, I pack at least underwear and a top in case my suitcase is not at my destination. This size works for me whether I am cruising out of Florida or Boston or flying. I have done Alaska and British Isles with clothing for cooler climates and have had no problem. But everyone is different and I like to travel light.

If you get laundry,  you could send sleepwear, undies or tops you feel comfortable sending out.

Also the way you pack can make a difference. Some people roll their clothes, double fold or put them in packing cubes. I bought some and will try these out next month.

  2. The weather can really vary at at the end of September. Living in NE all my life, there are warm days and more moderate temps. I see you live in MN so maybe you have the same type weather. I have taken many Canada/NE cruises at different months. I never packed heavy clothing or waterproof boots. I wear sneakers. Are you planning to be outdoors a lot? I usually consider the weather in my area and plan on it being slightly cooler.

The best advice going anywhere is look at the extended forecast and you can get a good idea of what to expect and pack accordingly.

  3. My facial cleanser is Philosophy Purity Made Simple. Leaves my skin soft and doesn't feel dry after washing. When I wear eye makeup or foundation, I use Beekman cleansing cloths. Removes makeup easily, even stubborn mascara. The towelettes don't leave skin dry plus they smell great.

I do the same thing as Mum 2 Mercury cutting tubes in half to remove product. I do this for my facial moisturizer and body butter/creams. I've been doing this for years. There is so much product in the tube that is wasted.

  4. Hi Lois,

The only time I have been asked is if I'm in a discussion with others and we all talk about where our families came from. Never in a store by a cashier.

I had an MD appt. this morning and had a cognitive test for the first time. I was given a piece of paper with a circle and had to show the clock hands for the time asked. I was also given 3 words and then had to repeat them after the clock drawing. Maybe this is something new this year for Medicare??

  5. Hi Lois,

Everything is very well marked, When I went on my British Isles cruise, I took a train to Paddington Station from Heathrow. I had no trouble following signage as to where to buy my ticket, where the trains depart, and when I arrived at Paddington, where to get a taxi.  I stayed in London one night before the cruise. You should have no trouble if you follow signs to arrivals and baggage claim. Everything is very straightforward. As Cynthia mentioned, there is only one way to go.

  6. Lois, The same thing happened to me when I returned from my cruise in January. I called my handyman and he used a tool that made the disposal work. It looks like an S shaped tool. He told me this can happen when a disposal isn't used. It worked like a charm.

If your plumber doesn't try to reset (not sure of the term) your disposal and wants to sell you a new one, please mention your disposal wasn't used for a couple of weeks.

  7. Hi Melody, Beautiful pictures and the outfit really suits you.

Glad to hear you are doing well with PT. You seem to be making good progress.

FLL airport opened at 9 this morning. I'm sure a lot of people are supposed to be flying in. Next week is school vacation in Massachusetts and I'm sure other states as well. So you have the cruising people and people who are just coming to FL for vacation.
