  1. I think it's worth it, but I will say that last year we got an upsell from an SY to an SB for $199 pp, for a 7-day Alaska cruise.

We got the same deal two years ago and have to say I really enjoyed the neptune suite perks, for us the breakfast was one of the top perks course the coffee in the neptune lounge was good too, course so was the pressing of our clothes for formal night, well lets just say I thouroughly ENJOYED the Neptune suites!!!! :D I just booked a neptune suite for Eastern Car on her for Jan 31 got suite 7151 and really looking forward to it!

  2. We always do Carnival for the Caribbean cruises and have done Princess cruise tour and Holland 7 day for Alaska. To me and only my honest opinion... I chose the cruise line on the departure port and Glacier Bay. Your pretty busy with scenery on this cruise and ports that I hardly notice the ship LOL. I have done both Glacier Bay and Tracy Arm and love love love Glacier, but Glacier you will find to be higher in price as well. So it all comes down to, where you go out of, which Glacier you want to see, and what activities you are going to do and if there is enough time in port to do the activities you want to do, than the ship will fall into your lap. No offense to the rest of my age group but Holland is what I called the Ben Gay Ship, very quiet and relaxed and had to kind of laugh when I would go for my 11 pm stroll the ship was empty, but in all fairness you want to be up early most mornings, that's when we spotted humpback and amazing sunrises and scenery so staying up late doesn't always work ;)

  3. I went on Princess twice last one three years and Holland two years ago. I felt there was a big difference between the two. Princess seemed to have a younger (30-45) age group where Holland was bit older (45-70) both in August and one in May. And of course this is just my opinion, I also felt that Princess directed more of their activities to a bit younger crowd.

  4. I am not good at reviews so bare with me....

We stayed in Tampa at Quality Inn airport. It was for one night so we were okay with this. It had a grocery store across the street for easy access for chips, pop and wine. We got in at 8P so all the port shuttle spots were filled so had to take a cab to the port. Turned out for 6 of us it was cheaper doing it this way.

Got to the Pier around 10:30 and got on the boat around noon. Had three rooms on our sail and sign card however, we were the ones in the suite and were the only ones with priority boarding, so we waited with the others. If I had to do it over I would just book a balcony with FTTF since you had better perks with that than a suite.

French door 4K 4188: My daughter had this room and we had set it up for their honeymoon. It was nice for them to be able to open the door for some air at times and the room seemed roomy enough.

We had room 4237 aft balcony suite and really enjoyed the balcony on this room. I especially loved the separate bedroom so it allowed someone to rest without making the other person go to the casino ;)

More on the boat and ports tomorrow along with pictures:D

  5. he could have boarded with you without the FTTF.

really, if you're in a suite, or traveling with people who are in a suite, there's no need for FTTF, unless you want to be in your cabin quicker and want the special line to stand in for the front desk.

the suite perks SUCK for carnival. after living the high life in a suite on holland america i couldn't bring myself to pay more than a grand extra for a suite. this is where carnival is failing miserably.

We had a suite last week on Legend and my daughters 27 and 30 were on my sail and sign card and still could not board with us. If I were to book another cruise thru carnival I would book a balcony and FTTF, those that purchased the FTTF were treated far better than those with suites.

  6. My husband and I have booked a July cruise for our entire family. We have cruised with Royal for a long time. We waited too long to book for our large group so Enchantment was fully booked. We love Port Canaveral, so we decided to jump on over to Carnival. I may have questions that seem silly to you veterans of Carnival . If my questions annoy you or you think they are silly, then by all means please don't share that . First, I read that each adult is allowed to a bottle of wine on board. Will your steward bring you an ice bucket for it? If you take a bottle of your own to Main dining room, are you charged a corkage fee? . I think I read somewhere that you can bring some 20 ounce colas and bottles of water on board---True? I feel a little antsy, since I am a newby here. We will have our daughter and son-in-law and 4 grands---11,10,6 and 6. Kids have never cruised and are so excited. We adults are eager to see how we fit on Carnival. I am sure I will have more questions. Thank you in advance for your help.:D Kaye

We just got off the Legend yesterday and I brought a bottle of wine on board ( 1 per person over 21). They do charge you a corking fee if you bring it to the dining room. You are also allowed to bring a 12 pack of pop or 6 pack bottles on as well as water. We however did the pop card since we didn't want to keep going back and forth to our room for drinks and haul them around if our room wasn't ready. Our room steward actually brought us a bigger bucket to keep our wine in to keep it chilled along with the normal ice bucket. Just ask and they will deliver. Have fun with the planning!!!!:D

  7. We've done a number of cruises but for most we've driven to port or had nonstop flights and we're not frequent flyers.

We'll have a layover at Tampa and will probable need something to eat. So....my silly question is....is there anyplace to eat inside the security area or will we need to go outside the area and then go back through security to our gate?

We were just there yesterday and they had a pizza hut, quiznos, and a few rest at the gate area we were at. I am sure they will similar if not the same near the gate you get off. No need to go through security.

  8. Got on the legend Sunday and are sitting at mr sanchos! It appears everything is up and running, there was a glitch in the system yesterday not allowing anyone to buy soda cards, gift shop items etc. all transactions were done on paper. Medical emergency delayed departure and we lost our spot so did not leave till 7pm. All in all so far so good, weather at this point has been phenomenal .

  9. The connecting room will be a Vista Suite (aft-wrap) that only accommodates two people. I wonder how much noise they could possibly make?

This is only an assumption but it would depend on the ship. We will be on the legend next sun and we have 4237, our daughter and her hubby have the connecting room however the bedroom is separate in 4237 so it is on the other side of the room so at night I would ASSUME you would not hear as much as if the bed was right next to the door area. If you do a you tube search for the legend 4237 you can see the layout of that type of room. I understand these types of VS are only on the spirit class ships.

  10. You will just enjoy that Guys Burger and DOD, THAT much more:D:D:D

Hope you get on soon, and give those knees a break...

Keep us posted.....and most of all, ENJOY

No guys burgers on the Legend.... and there must be contractors on there cause it is just back from dry dock. New water slide though :D
