I can not even remember if I heard her not. i guess if i did i never went back. others have said the same.. Max got on Quest when Ed left. Ed was home for Easter. He told me in march he was going to JR .with all the sea days in the North Sea i wanted him to play at night. max has done more than 6 months but Ed perfers 4 months.. He enjoys being home in CA. Max has a new home. But the last 2 years has been hard on him so I think he enjoys sea life over the states. my guess in Oct Ed will be home again. Not sure where Max will be.
Either Max or Ed would be great, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Does anyone know who will be the pianist on Quest on the January Costa Rica cruise. We're hoping that either Ed or Max will be the one:)

Happy Birthday to the wonderful Journey and her staff and crew. Long may she sail:)

I did a "local eats" trip with Chef Fabio in Phuket, Thailand. The price was a bit less than your trip ($280 US), but I know that the asian tour costs are overall lower than Europe. Our tour included transportation to the shopping area which was really fun. I was amazing to see the fresh seafood, and poultry. We spent over an hour shopping. Then the chef left with his helpers and our group went on to a full Thai lunch, followed by a tour of a rum factory, and a cashew processor. We got back to the ship after dark (it was winter), so it was a full day. Dinner had to be postponed a bit to allow us to get cleaned up. The highlight was the absolutely amazing "Thai" dinner in Prime C using the ingredients we had purchased earlier that day. We only were a small group, and one gentleman did the tour without his wife and still had a great time. Do it if you want to.
We were also on that great "local eats" tour with Chef Fabio and his helpers. It was a great experience and we would definitely do it again. It did help to have a small group like we did.

Thanks again everyone. Rabin1 - Cruise Critic describe the role as to stimulate conversations in the forum and to remove posts that violate Cruise Critic guidelines. As upwarduk says I can merge threads - for example sometimes 2 Roll-calls might get set up for the same cruise, so I can merge them into one. I also try to help CC members by answering questions about Azamara, if I know the answer, or directing people to where they can find what they need to know.

Welcome Grandma Cruising, we look forward to meeting you on the January Costa Rica cruise:)

Their laundry service is one of the best. Like others, I have learned how to really stuff the bag (once did 40 items :))

We are going on the January cruise you mentioned (actually we're doing a B2B2B) which will be our 9th, 10th & 11th cruises with Azamara. We love everything about Azamara, the wonderful staff, great food and wonderful itineraries which include their fantastic AZAMAZING EVENINGS and WHITE NIGHT. If we can answer any questions for you, please email me at jtfourcpa@yahoo.com

We are currently booked on a B2B2B in an aft-facing veranda which we are so looking forward to. If we submit the form and are selected for an upgrade, would it likely only be for one of the legs rather than all 3? Also, do you have to take the upgrade if you are not happy with the room location offered?
The upgrade is only good for one cruise. We had an upgrade given to us for our 2nd of a B2B2B cruise. So we had to move twice but it was well worth it.:)

We are on the B2B2B Dubai to Singapore having previously sailed on five other
Azamara cruises. The main reason we keep coming back to Azamara is not only the wonderful small ship but the fantastic caring crew and the wonderful food. Their complimentary Azamazing evenings, their White Night, Jazz Brunch among other things and the way they support Cruise Critic are what
sets them above so many other lines. That is why they have such a loyal following. Add to that, we have Bonnie, who is always there for us.:)

As several have said, it will be a different experience. It isn't fair to either one to compare - the old apple & orange story. We have been on the Equinox and Eclipse and big as they are, the design flows well and we never felt really crowded except when the stores have a "big sale" and you just want to walk through from point A to B and forgot that. We have sailed O many times and that is probably our favorite line, however, we can't afford to cruise them all the time. Azamara either. Celebrity or Princess, whoever has the itinerary we want gets our business when we need to keep the price down. Enjoy the change.
You are very right. They are two different experiences, both great in their own way. Azamara is our favorite line (having done five so far and three coming up in the fall) but we have also enjoyed Oceania, Princess and Celebrity, having just gotten off a great cruise on the Silhoutte a few weeks ago. Enjoy your trip and be sure to go to the Martini bar!!

Does anyone know who the piano player will be on the Dubai cruise in October? We were hoping Ed Walters would be aboard but he is on the earlier cruise.
-
We love Azamara and have done 5 cruises with them. We recently did a 35 night cruise around New Zealand and Australia on Celebrity Solstice and couldn't have been more pleased. The itinerary, the ship and staff couldn't have been better.
-
Thanks everyone for the good info. Now I will call my TA and tell her she was wrong (she wanted us to go to a recommended site and pay about $45 pp):)
-
We are sailing on the Solstice in Feb to New Zealand and Australia. Will we need a Visa for Australia? We read recently that the US has a reciprical agreement with Australia and one wouldn't be needed but our TA says we do need one.

That's the one my friend told me about. She was on that cruise and did a tour with those people. I didn't see his review.
We were also on that cruise and knew that couple. Turns out the item that fell was glued and not nailed into the wall. Hopefully that has been fixed:)
-
We've done all 3 menus multiple time and heartily recommend them, either not knowing anyone attending ( a great way to make new friends! ) or in a group of friends we've sailed with previously.
You may want to investigate purchasing a package of specialty dinners that would include the 2 restaurants and a Chef's Table at a discounted rate.
We've done two on two different ships and loved both of them. As Bill said, the package they offer is a really good deal. If you like good food and wine, you will love it.

Of course lovely Max is my favourite pianist, but I have to say that Ed Waters, who is presently on Quest is great fun too. Max is on Journey until the New Year.
On Journey last year Ed had the Casino bar rocking! Went on late into the night too, we did music trivia, name that tune, singalongs and just loved the vibe all night long. We met up with some Aussie, South African and American guests most nights and just generally had a great time with Ed on piano. He has a good voice too and he's a lovely guy. You will have fun whether it's Max or Ed entertaining you.
We were on a B2B with Ed Waters in the Piano Bar and he was just great. He really packed the room because he was so popular. We're hoping he will be on our cruise in July.
-
We were on the Journey in February and, yes, we had a few minor problems, but they were immediately handled. The food was outstanding and the staff just wonderful. We already booked our next cruise with Azamara (our 5th) in July. When you see the number of Azamara "repeaters" you'll see that this line in very well thought of.

Yes, it is compared to other lines. Their liquor packages are also far better than on other ships.:)
-
Yes, but.....
A 375ml bottle of Rum gifted to yourself and waiting for you on board costs $17. Bombay Sapphire Gin costs $22. Using 1.5 ounces as the standard drink size, you would get roughly 12 drinks per 375ml bottle. For the rum, that comes out to $1.40 per drink (with no need to tip yourself. :D) For the Gin, that comes out to $1.83 per drink.
If you smuggle those same bottles (or the contents thereof) on board, first you have to buy them. The rum would cost around $8 and the gin would cost around $13. So your do-it-yourself drinks would cost you $0.66 and $1.08 respectively. And that does not add in the cost of whatever stealth device one had to by to get the liquid on board the ship. Are the risks associated with smuggling liquor on board really worth the savings achieved by driving down the price of a drink from $1.40-$1.83 to $0.66-$1.08? I can understand the desire of folks to bypass $8.00 drinks. But isn't the solution to gift yourself a bottle or two? It's not as if the smuggled-on liquor was free.
I definitely agree with you in principal, but your arithmetic is a bit off. 375ML equals about 13 ounces (12.68 to be exact) which works out to about 8.5 drinks assuming a 1.5 ounce pour. This makes the gin drink cost $2.60, still a far cry from the $ 8 charged on the ship.

I just read that Royal Caribbean has done away with their $25 corkage fee. Any chance that will happen on Azamara?:)
-
We should all wish her the best of luck and success in her new career with Azamara:)
-
Thank you Bonnie and the powers that be for listening to us and doing the right thing.:)

We know this is not your fault but we are all VERY disappointed that the promised announcement for Thursday never came. :(

How long do you have to apply the six free nights?
