  1. Oh... A live from is definately in the plans... Just trying to figure what to call it! Look around the 12th of January- I will probably start it then.

    :)

Will you be blogging your cruise, Marcia?

Tracie, I will try but I am a very boring person, especially on a cruise. I don't go to any activities, trivia, shows, etc. I do knit so if I'm by myself, I'll hit the knitters group if they have them on these shorter, port intensive trips. Food is no longer a big deal, so I won't complain about the MDR etc. I love to read and have about 6 books with me and enough yarn for 2 sweaters.

But, like I said, I will give it a go.... So look tomorrow afternoon. I hope to get to the port by 10 am and we'll see what happens.

    Best Wishes,

    Marcia

  2. [FONT="Comic Sans MS"]Thanks you guys for all your support as it has been a difficult month dealing with my Mom and having to put her in the NH. So I will truly enjoy this cruise.

Tracie, have a great trip on the Diamond. I hope to read your "live".

    Thanks Shreddie!!

  3. As some of you regulars know, I booked a last minute cruise on the Regal leaving tomorrow only last week.

I posted yesterday that I was concerned that I hadn't received a cabin assignment and got the email this am: I had booked an IF guarantee as that's all they were offering and was upgraded to BB (A301). This is a handicap balcony cabin so it is huge!!.

Thanks for all your great karma.

    Marcia

  4. Hey Marcia-

You will have a bed! And you will not have to share with strangers!!!

Go to the port- they luggage handlers will have a list with the names and cabin numbers so you can write it on your luggage tag.

I hope you have a wonderful cruise!

    Bon Voyage!!!

    Tracie-Lynn

Thanks Tracie. I've never booked this close to leaving or didn't know where I would be living!! Take care, will put up some posts from the cruise but I don't do anything exciting.....

    Marcia

  5. Yes its a suggestion. We arrive at 10:30 regardless. Boarding starts around Noon.

You should be fine. I have queued up at 10 AM, when my boarding time was 330. Because I have preferred status, I was one of the first to board the ship. At no time did anyone ask me for any boarding information other than whether or not I had preferred or standard boarding.

Good luck! And let us know how you made out!

Keith & Tracie, I have a question for you guys. I can be at the port by 10 or 10:30 on Thursday (Regal cruise) as I am driving. BUT, I still don't have a cabin assignment. Will I have to sit there until they find me a bed or would they let me board????

I'm waiting on the move over call!! :):):):)

  6. Last night i check our booking (35 days to go), and instead of saying GUARANTY, it had a cabin #, just what i had wanted , a midship extended balcony on Caribe, very happy with the cabin and location.

I was surprised that there was no email from princess showing the status change, but happy that we won't be getting to the pier not yet knowing our cabin. Mike in CT

    Nice cabin.

I leave Thursday on Regal and no cabin assignment yet. I only booked about 10 days or so ago. Hope to have cabin assignment before I leave for the port so I can get my luggage delivered. I check a couple of times a day as I know they never email that info.

  7. I hope you informed the tour desk about the problems with the tour in Antigua. Unfortunately this happens all too frequently in the Caribbean where the main function of the islanders is to rip off cruise passengers. This has happened to me numerous times as to where there are only a few islands I actually get off the ship.

I will be joining the ship on Thursday for the NY's cruise. I do have one tour booked in Barbados but have done this tour before - catamaran to snorkel with turtles. It was excellent last time so hopefully it still is.

  8. Since noro is caused by a virus, antibacterial wipes or hand gels do very little except provide a false confidence. The 2 BEST things you can do to combat this and protect yourself is to wash your hands frequently throughout the day with soap and warm water for at least 30 seconds (sing Happy Birthday to yourself) AND don't use public restrooms on the ship - go back to your room and use the bathroom.

Have a great cruise and yes, they do a great job in cleaning the ship but more than likely another infected passenger gets on especially at this time of year.

  9. Hello all, upgraded to a premium suite today. Regal D122, anyone have any info on this room?

I don't know about that particular suite but I've been in regal suites right across from the concierge lounge. I thought the suites were a little small compared to other suites I've been in but love the concierge lounge esp for the snacks. Have a great cruise.

  10. Thanks for coming back and letting us know.

Lots of people out there in cyberland pulling for you! :D

Thanks, it's just been really hard for me the past couple of months. I had to put my Mom in a nursing home today. I've been trying to care for her at home but it's gotten beyond what I can handle.

That's why this cruise is so important, just to get away and re-group so I can do what I need to do for her going forward.

  11. If you waitlist, don't just sit back and "wait" for the system to magically work itself out and hopefully clear you. Get on the waitlist AND check inventory a couple times a day. The only time I was on a waitlist w/Princess, I continually checked inventory. When I saw a stateroom become available on line, I grabbed it on a 24 hour hold, then called Princess. Although there were people ahead of me on the waitlist, they said they were obligated to give the room to me since I had physically reserved it in my name, etc. So that experience pretty much confirmed to me that when someone cancels a room, it goes back into general inventory regardless if there are people on a waitlist.

Good luck and be proactive! ;)

BEAV, I did exactly what you said and checking website every couple of hours. A few minutes ago I got a cabin, booked it via website, and called and cancelled waitlist.

    So glad I checked.................

    Thanks!!

    :D:D

  12. Your chances are pretty good. However, it might come down to the wire. We had to cancel a March, 2016 cruise four days prior, due to my husband's medical emergency. The chances of someone becoming ill or having a death in the family among thousands of people unfortunately is pretty high. On a positive note, I heard of a man who was booked on a Carnival cruise who won ten million in the lottery and bagged his cruise that week to collect the money. Many of those 16 waitlists might opt to book something else and give up their spots on the list. You also have the benefit of being close in Florida. Plus, you are looking for a single stateroom. That cruise date is very popular with families and the cruise might have a passenger maximum which would prevent third or fourth berths. Good luck.

That's my thinking here too and especially because I can just drive to the port. Now if I won the lottery I'd probably cancel too or else just hire a whole ship and invite a couple thousand of my closest friends.

    Thanks BEAV, I'll do that.

  14. We have just been told that my husband needs to be on oxygen, if not 24/7, at this point pretty close to it. In addition to the other logistics and life changes we will be making to accommodate this new reality, we have a cruise to Alaska scheduled on the Island Princess next August. Does anyone have any advice/tips/cautions about traveling while using oxygen. We had planned to fly into Vancouver, spend two days ahead of the cruise and I had been looking at spending an additional day or two in Anchorage at the end of the cruise. Is it even feasible at this point to do this, or should I cancel the cruise entirely.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Esmo

As far as the cruise is concerned, you can arrange to have O2 services delivered to the ship via companies like special needs at sea. You will also want to speak to your physician about getting a RX for oxygen concentrator rather than having to lug O2 tanks around, you would need one for the plane anyway as that is the only type of equipment allowed. Any medical supply store in your area can set you up with all this with a Rx from the doctor.

  15. The Vegas odds are 60 - 40 in your favor Good Luck!!

    Tony

Thanks for the positive vibes Tony!!

Don't know which HAL ship you are looking at but I would be pretty confident saying that whichever ship it is, it will not be anything close in appearance to the Regal.

It really has nothing to do with ships etc or bells & whistles. With over 50 cruises on Princess I have a lot of perks that I really don't want to give up and learn a new "ship or cruise line culture".

That said, I have sailed HAL several times and if the itinerary and pricing are right, I say go for HAL. Just remember that it will probably be an older crowd.

Young crowd, older crowd it doesn't matter to me as I am traveling solo and do my own thing.

And yes I am about 50 mins from the port so I do have that advantage of being able to take a last minute vacancy.

Thanks everyone - I'll let you know if I get on!!
