Hi everyone
Remember me?
You all were so right. I'm sailing solo & loving it .
Ruth: thanks for your words of wisdom
I love the Neptune suite and all it's perks I'm directly opposite it and the concierge Nikolai is fantastic!!
Just had dinner in the pinnacle grill
Will do a full review when I get home

Continue to enjoy:)

Many years ago before HAL had the Neptune Lounge on ships for those of who sailed in the PS, S, SA, SB and SC cabins we used to order breakfast so that we would be ready for excursions and not standing in long lines. We had quite a few bad experiences. We tried the club sandwich one time when we got back late from an excursion -- many people recommended -- it was horrible. Also tried the cheese plate -- barely could see the 4 tiny pieces of cheese on it. Never tried dinner.
So -- for at least 10 years or more we have ordered nothing to the cabin and have no intension to do so.
I also can not understand why people wish to dine in their cabins.
It's ashame that's was your experience, I think room service is one of the things Hal does best and one thing not yet changed by cutbacks!

As we were sailing away from Fort Lauderdale, a woman on the verandah below us asked. "Which way is the pointy end?"
Funniest on this thread IMHO
-
And it sounds less steak house and more "we don't know where we wanted to go with this".
If a change is being made make it special.....
Just my impression, haven't tried it yet.
-
And things can change drastically even from one sailing to the next. We loved NA and Eurodam and food great on both several different times.
Once on a b2b on Noordam food went from excellent first ten days to poor on the second 10.

This thread seems excessively negative, so much bickering. Opinions are appreciated but a salty lobster tail or an Italian meal that wasnt a favorite shouldn't be the focus of or reason to spoil ones cruise:rolleyes:

Not even a teaser or hint of your impressions of Oceania. Can't wait to hear your thoughts. Being an Oceania fan myself I'm guessing it will be a positive review. Welcome home!:D

Those chocolate fortune cookies are spectacular :p

I'm sorry, but I think flashing your card is sort of bad form to me. It's kinda like hey look at me. I think it would be better to fill out a comment card.
Seems to me leaving the PS room card on the table would be a classy suttle way to attain the service one deserves when paying for those accommodations

Still appears occasionally, best dessert offered IMHO. Rich dark chocolate shell with coffee ice cream inside. If you like it tell your waiter! My last cruise on NA my waiter got it for me several nights in a row, sometimes two:D

Hey, neighbor. Have a safe trip to Rome, and a great cruise on such a pretty little ship. I'll be about a week or so behind you, so it will be a while yet before I get home.
I don't intend to post from the ship, as Oceania Internet rates are even higher than HAL's. But yes, I do intend to do a report once I get back. I don't know what I'll find, but expect it will be lovely, and HAL traditionalists will want to read about it.
Perhaps it really is an alternative for those who say they would rather pay more to cruise the way HAL used to be.
The chocolate is plentiful, and it's real chocolate with lots of flavor. The flour less chocolate cake in the MDR and the chocolate milkshake at waves are not to be missed. Looking forward to your thoughts. ENJOY!

I have never tried this on Celebrity and am looking forward to dinner on the balcony one evening on Silhouette in January!!
-
Since the regular room service menu is ordered on the interactive system, who do you call to order off the MDR menu? Also, does anyone know how far in advance to order?
-
Yes, but I am guilty of throwing flower leis as well. Of course I was careful that we were moving fast enough and that the apparent wind would land them in the water. After you have lost 2 loved ones and buried their ashes at sea, it can be comforting to throw them some flowers.
And can be dangerous for marine life:eek:

Hey Randy -
Yea, the Oasis and Allure are very different than anything HAL has to offer. When we want to get away and do not much, then HAL is a good choice. Our trips on the Allure and the Oasis have included adult children and friends! We have enjoyed an Owner's Suite, Crown Loft Suite and most recently the Aqua Theater Suite. All are amazing and different experiences.
The suite amenities are pretty amazing. Happy hour in the Concierge lounge includes all the liquor and wine you want! No need to haul your own and race back to your room and pour refills (you know who you are).
Another fun experience is to have "dinning room" menu room service for breakfast, lunch or dinner. White table cloth dinning on the balcony - a great way to dine.
Shows include broadway productions, intimate comedy clubs, Ice shows, traditional shows!
I too love smaller HAL ship experience too.
Check it out and let me know if you have any questions. There are also a lot of open minded people on the RCI boards who will also share their experiences.
Don't let the narrow minded and uniformed rain on your desire to consider another experience.
CHEERS!
I have been docked next to Oasis and Allure. The loft suites looked incredible. Would you elaborate on that experience please
-
Eurodam does dock across from the Sheraton, love that port!
-
Thanks for posting KK, seeing the menus reminded me of my new favorite drink that I discovered last February on NA, the SUNSICLE, delicious and refreshing.
I had forgotten about it and will now remember to order it on Eurodam next month. I highly recommend it for those who like sweet drinks!:)

1982 on the Stella Solaris through the Greek Isles, but Sitmar sold me on cruising
The Stella Solaris was my favorite ship ever. She was a little tired, and no balconies, but there was a feeling about that ship that I can not describe. The Greek crew and Greek food was awesome. Sailed on her three times and have yet to feel the same about any other ship. :)

We are thoroughly enjoying your LIVE FROM posts! We will be doing the reverse trip-Rome to Ft Lauderdale in October. Your eloquent descriptions make us feel like we are already sailing. Congratulations on your wedding and the most unusual wedding cake ever:)

Wish we could go back to that time with Noordam out of NYC:p
