I would apply for the authorization about 2 weeks prior. They do them in order of sailing, and it seems like no one gets anything back until about 10 days out not matter when they applied.
That's my plan anyway.

The May 3rd Encore cruise to Bermuda we booked in early February went down in price originally but is now up a $500 for a studio and $1,000 for an inside. I would not book now..
-
Unless things have changed, the unused portion of your refundable credit will be refunded back to the credit card it was originally paid for with.
-
It depends on what was being offered last week when you upgraded. When I looked into it for myself, the perks were the same and I hesitated. Today the perks offered are much more and they were included in my upgrade from studio to inside.

That’s cool. Do you know if they changed the set on the Escape? It was only one level when I saw it last year.
-
Pure speculation on my part, but Choir of Man started in 2018 on the Escape, I think your chances of it still being onboard in 2021 would be better on the Encore.

Thank you all for your responses.
I spoke to some very pleasant people today. They both see his cruises. Latitudes passed me to someone who could fix them not showing up on the website, that department then informed me that they will not show until after he cruises again. It’s not a huge deal, but the excursion discount would have been nice. I’m not going to stay upset about unfair policies I can not change.

HI all,
We are traveling with my son's friend this summer. We normally let our son have access to our credit card via the sea pass, and we monitor any charges. So, we do not wish for his friend to be able to charge to our card. Is there a way for him to charge to say his parent's credit card or just not at all? We are also hesitant to let our kid to have access to charging on the sea pass this time as we don't want our kid to tell his friend... "It's okay!" Teens! 😉
You can certainly deny any person charging capabilities on their sea pass. I suggest asking his parents to add him as an authorized user to their credit card and have him use that credit card.

Everyone who books a cruise is enrolled in the Latitudes Rewards (points) program - so you get an account
number and then after the cruise completion you are awarded the points for that cruise and your son will
get the same points you have accumulated after that first cruise.
Those 5 cruises you took 9-10 years ago - were they standard 7 day cruises resulting in Latitudes Points
of 35 (7x5=35) ? Rating a Silver level (more points if booked in suite - insider offer and perhaps grandfathering
in those that were booked more than 9 months before sailing).
Hope you kept records and in case you did not then go to your NCL.com account and check your history -
your son's points to be posted should be identical to yours.
Nothing serious here - bronze and silver do not rate much - even gold is only a token step to rewards
(Gift Shop discounts and reduce cost laundry)
At the Platinum level - specialty dinner - wine and free laundry - back scenes tour now there is something tangible.
But every point does count and as noted these occur after cruise completion.
So check your history to get an idea of what your son's points will be - if there is any discrepancy your history
will be used to post the points to your son's account.
Have any problems I have a source to resolve the issue.
When I spoke to NCL a few years ago, they had the cruises he took attached to his Latitudes number. We made him an NCL account online last night and none of his cruise history was listed. He should have 55 points for the cruises.
I would very much appreciate a contact to help resolve this. The consultant last night told me twice that he will not get credit for any of those cruises. Past experience leads me to believe calling again will be a crap shoot at best.

I would call the vendor (Price Line) directly and ask them about it. And then call NCL and ask for an amenity statement.
None of the on board credit from Priceline will be there. Travel agencies don't usually purchase the credit until the last minute.
I would call Price Line and see what their intentions are regarding the new limitations.

From the NCL FAQ page...maybe he won't get past credit until after this cruise?
When will I be enrolled in Latitudes Rewards? We enroll all guests who have cruised with us and who are at least 18 years of age in our Latitudes Rewards program within 48 hours after your cruise is completed. No action is required on your part and your membership and rewards in this exclusive program are automatic. Cruises taken as a minor will be credited to the guest on their first cruise taken after they turn 18 years of age.
THANK YOU! I never looked at “when” because I know he’s had a number for years.
I feel he should board the cruise as silver/gold and receive the perks, but at least he will get them..... eventually.
If I learned nothing else from these boards, I’ve learned not to completely trust the answer of an NCL rep. lol 😂 😀

My son has a latitudes number and has cruised with us 5 times in the last 9 or 10 years. He will now be booking his first cruise since turning 18. I was told (in the past) that he will get credit for the cruises he took and be given the appropriate Latitudes level upon reaching 18. Today I was told he will not get any of the cruises credited and he only has a number but no level. Is that representative correct? When did they change this?

I'm looking to fine tune my plans for our cruise. We are sailing on the
-First milk can we get milk any time of day like royal and carnival and what kind of milk are we talking? Should we expect little cartons of milk like we see at schools or is there a chance we will be stuck with ultra pasteurized shelf stable milks? While on that topic what about creamer for coffee is it powdered half and half in little cups or real cream?
From what I remember, you can get milk any time of day. There are school type cartons available in white and chocolate. Feel free to take a couple back to your room from the Buffet. The will be real half and half in containers like you get in diners.
-Second can we get ice cream without paying additional anywhere besides the main dining room?
soft serve is available in the buffet all afternoon and evening. During certain hours of the day, there will also be “hard” ice cream available.
-Third what are our lunch options? It seems like multiple venues are open on embarkation day what can we expect later in the cruise?
at least one dining room will be open on sea days, the buffet every day. O’Sheehans will be open every day as well. There is often a pool side BBQ as well.
-Fourth my son is asking about if there will be a tea time on the ship,my research says no but can anyone confirm that? Also what tea is included on the ship?
sadly, there is no formal tea that I’ve seen, but on my last cruise or two, I did notice “scones” and some other treats available in the buffet and the great outdoors around 3 or so. There will be a basic selection of tea available all the time. Black, green, early grey, herbal, etc.
- Fifth are the doors magnetic? We like to hang whiteboards and need to plan a way to make that happen.
yes, the door and walls are magnetic.
I tried to get all this information without asking but it either doesn't exist or its inconsistent so thank you in advance.
I’m fairly confident that all the above is still accurate. I’m sure I will be corrected if I am wrong. Enjoy the Gem, she’s my favorite ship.

What is the show about? Kid appropriate? Thank you!
Yes it is!

My sister in law cruised with her minor niece, different last names and had no problem.
I’ve cruised with my minor son without my husband and had no issues either.

A small electric outlet extender with a breaker, ..…….
By breaker, do you mean a surge protector? If you do, they are not allowed on cruise ships. A power strip without that is fine.
I like to bring an empty gift card so I can keep the power in the room on while I am out and about. No more dead camera batteries this way.
As mentioned before:
A battery powered light for the bathroom at night.
Magnetic clips.
Post it notes.
I prefer a card holder type lanyard. Its easy to slip my card in and out plus I can carry a few bills for extra tips when I don't have pockets.

My son was booked but didn’t sail with us on our 2017 cruise and without our requesting it, we got a refund of his port fees and taxes back to the credit card we booked with about 2 months later.

Walked off the Escape with my luggage a week ago. I had an ideal walkoff. Here is my timeline:
7:45 - Ship cleared customs
7:57 - left my cabin (14 aft)
8:38 - was walking out of the terminal.
Pick up is across the street on 12th Avenue.
If you are under the customs limits, you no longer have to fill out a customs declaration.
Disembarkation was forward, but once we cleared customs we were told we could go aft as well - you still wound up walking towards, and leaving, forward, but it seemed to still be faster that way as my cousin who left well before me got out maybe 2 min before me.
Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

It was in the low 70's while we were there. The water was warm enough that I could swim, but I am from upstate NY so I am used to cold water.
The ocean was smooth the first day almost like glass. I could not believe the ocean would not have waves and white caps. The second day we were going pretty fast because of a medical emergency, but the waves still were not that bad.
Like Glass is exactly how we described it as well. I personally thought this was the smoothest cruise I’ve ever been on.

what was the other arrangements for the ferry not working?
They wound up getting other boats to ferry us and times were changed. The ride was a lot longer than the paid ferry.

Was it OK for kids?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Forums mobile app
Yes, it is fine for children. I saw at least 3 of them there. As a matter of fact, one was a young girl - maybe 3-4 yrs old who was a pleasure to watch. She was smiling and clapping and enjoyed the show as much and I did. lol
-
how long is this? on my edocs, it shows it as 1 hour which seems short on a dinner and show
Dinner service is very fast and eaten before the show show starts. I’d say count on about 1hrs 15min until you start leaving.
-
Menu and my take on the show:
Beer (no opinion on it as I despise beer)
Potted Salmon appetizer which since I don’t eat seafood was substituted with a mixed greens salad. Very good.
Bangers and Mash (sausage & mashed potatoes & Savoy cabbage) entree. Meh
Bread pudding and strawberries and whipped cream for dessert. Both were OK but not like bread pudding that I’m used to.
Although the food wasn’t to our liking, the 4 Of us thought the show was wonderful and well worth the charge even without eating dinner.
They have great voices, they were very interactive with the audience and it was a lot of fun. Two thumbs up.

Directly dialed calls from your own staterooms to shore and/or other cellular/mobile #'s were priced last year at $5 a minute, billed to onboard account
On the Escape now and it is still $4.99 a minute. 👍🏼👍🏼
MSC Meraviglia boarding at Red Hook Brooklyn
in MSC Cruises
Posted
It isn’t as bad as you fear. Earlier this month, I had an appointment in Bath Beach, Brooklyn at 10:30am on a Tuesday morning. From central NJ (exit 9) it took me around 1 hr 10 minutes. Maybe 15 minutes of traffic. Once that early work traffic eases up, it’s not so bad. Red hook is further, but you probably wouldn’t want to check in much before 11 anyway.
