  1. I have a question about Port Canaveral. We are sailing the Magic and sailing out of Port Canaveral for the first time. I am curious as to why people like leaving from there so much better. I honestly found it much more expensive and troublesome to find transportation from the airport to Port Canaveral. I must be missing something. We usually leave out of Miami and stay in Ft. Lauderdale and I have never had trouble. I am paying twice as much since we are sailing out of Port Canaveral!

    Thanks :)

We drive to Port Canaveral from Ga. so we don't have to catch a shuttle from Orlando. That makes it easier. The price of the hotels and parking are much cheaper than Miami. Most hotels have free shuttle which is very convient and usually very good. Port Canaveral has a very good system for boarding and disembarking. They are pretty strict about how we get on and off the ship. Very organized. I have had a lot of bad experiences out of Miami with the lines, lack of organization for getting on and off the ship. I will not cruise the newer ships till they leave Miami. So I guess it is a personal preference for me.

  2. I have sailed both ships. The two are my favorites and to me just about equal. I do think the Breeze is a little prettier than the Magic. We just got off the Magic a couple of weeks ago and will be on the Breeze in 2018. I would rather sail from Port Canaveral than Miami. That is a determining factor to me. I don't think you will go wrong with either ship. Happy Sailing.

  3. They, Carnival, gave us the OBC due to the itinerary change. This only applies to previously booked passengers. We also got a $50.00 OBC when I booked this from them (Carnival). This way our OBC will cover the Cuban Visas.

    Thank you.

  4. Carnival gave us the OBC. But that was due to the fact we were already booked prior to itinerary change and were incurring unplanned expenses.

Thanks. I figured it out when I went back and re-read the post.

  5. They will also give us $100.00 OBC.

Sorry to have to ask, but who is they? Is it Carnival or a private T/A giving the $100. I booked yesterday for May 2018 and didn't get anything. Thanks for the info.

  6. Tabyana is part of West Bay Beach, as is Bananarama. It is located just past Infinity Bay Resort (the L Shaped pier), it is not only boat free but the reef comes steps from the shore.

This thread has everything (including maps) you ever wanted to know about snorkeling West Bay.

On a related note, Half Moon Bay has heaps of beach, how ever Half Moon Bay Resorts does not. There are several places along Half Moon Bay beach offering loungers.

Thanks for the reply and some good info. I will be checking out the link. I'm a little confused on West Bay Beach and West Bay Resort though. The one I have been to several times has no beach but a nice restaurant/bar at the waters edge and steps or maybe a ladder into the water with reefs up close and some pretty good snorkeling. I really like this place but friends want sand and a beach. So Infinity is my second choice. Thanks again for a quick reply. We leave in a few weeks.

  7. You should consider the Tabayana Beach Break excursion. I think you will enjoy it even more.

Could you tell me what Tabayana Beach is close to. Is it west end or west bay. We just got back from Roatan a few weeks ago and went to Bananarama and there were so many boats docked on the beach the water was all stired up. Looking for a better beach. I love Half Moon Bay for snorkeling but it doesn't have a beach for others that are traveling with us. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  8. I am also currently booked on the Dream out of New Orleans on July 9th. We currently have regular balconies on the 7th deck. My daughter was assigned the task of looking at reviews of cove balconies. For the most part they were all positive and we are thinking of changing because of the proximity to the water. I want to look straight down on the water and that is not possible unless you have a cove. Another plus is that no one can look down on you.

I love the cove balconies. I don't think they will let you trade down since a cove is cheaper than a regular balcony. But never hurts to try.

  9. Those deck parties don't last that long. There is a warning of the noise if you looked at the deck plans.

I did say in my post that I was already on the ship when I decided to stay another week because of weather back home. I booked this room on Fri. and was originally set to disembark on the following day. Only 2 cabins left when I booked. If I had been planning on this week for a cruise I would have done my homework. I am trying to help out here. No need for snarky remarks.

  10. I am looking to book a cabin on the lido deck and my husband tells me this is a bad decision. Cabin numbers available are 10288, 10289, 10284 and 10285. Has anyone been in these cabins or location? Is my husband right that I am crazy booking this location?

My husband and I had cabin 10289 and it is a nightmare. Unless it is your only choice, I would look elsewhere. Lido has some great cabins. This is not one of them. I would imagine the others you listed would be the same way. You also get noise from the hallway above. It looks like it is right over the bed. We went up to deck 11 to take a look at what could be making it sound like a heard of horses sometimes and it is the hall way. Noise doesn't usually bother me but when there was a party, I felt as if I was out in the middle of the Lido even with ear plugs in.

  11. Thanks for the info! I got nervous even before I seen where the cabin was, lol. We're booked on The Magic for a Christmas cruise as well this year , first time at Christmas being way and can not wait! How was your cruise? And also how did you enjoy the Magic? She looks like a beauty of a ship.

I enjoyed the Christmas cruise very much. Lots of kids but most were well behaved. Free champagne as we boarded the ship which was a nice touch. They had trays of it everywhere and would hand you two at a time. I was on the Lido deck cabin 10260. Very nice balcony cabin. Quiet and good cabin stewards. The ship is beautiful. I really liked the CD Swartz. Some didn't but I found him to be fun and everywhere. Would always speak. I saw 3 new shows I haven't ever seen. They were really good. Flick, 88 keys and a rock and roll show were all good. The comedians were good also. Whit I didn't like was the American Table. To few choices & deserts were limited. Hot Chocolate machines were down a lot. But those are just minor details. You will love your cruise. Just stay away from 10289. I forgot to mention that the hallway from the deck above is over the bed. It sounded like a heard of horses running through there. There is some type of metal under some carpet that when the kids ran across it, it would wake the dead. Happy Sailing.

  12. We did the cave tubing a few years ago and used water shoes. If I had it to do over it would be an old pair of tennis shoes. Still good enough for walking with some support but something you can leave behind when the tour is over. Water shoes offer little support and your foot moves around on the hike up the mountain.

  13. We just got off the Magic. We booked with a tour company called Way to go Tours. http://www.waytogotoursbelize.com Waylon is the owner and he was great to work with. His dad was our tour guide and he was so knowledgeable and even climbed the ruins with my husband and a few other guys to make sure they were safe. We did a city tour and the rum factory which is not worth the time. You have the driver for the whole day and he will take you where ever you want to go. I would use them again in a heart beat. We had plenty of time and were never rushed.

  14. I just spent 3 weeks on the Magic. Did the Christmas, New Years and then an extra week due to weather. I booked the 3rd week while still on the ship. There were only a couple of cabins left. I was told there was one available on the Lido Deck, so I jumped on it, then asked where it was. After a while I had forgot about the location not being shown. It was booked and I was happy UNTIL I saw where it was. It was the room from hell. It was cabin 10289 right inside the doors leading out to the pool area. I felt like I was out in the middle of the Lido during their parties. I put in ear plugs and still heard the boom boom boom. I'm a night owl and noise doesn't usually bother me but that room should not be sold. It was horrible. I always check out my cabins before I book but this being a last minute booking, that's what I got. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. Unless you want to party in your cabin, avoid this one.

  15. I would say it's like something you wear to church. I wear black slacks and a nice top. Husband wears slacks, dress shirt, sometimes a jacket, sometimes just a tie. The second elegant night is less formal it seems. Less jackets and ties for men, less glitter for women.
