  1. Loved your review! I read it all (all of these pages) in one sitting after numerous potty breaks lol.

I'm heading out on the Breeze in November and went searching for info.

Thanks for taking the time to post all the info and pics. I love the museum in FLL and the bank of America card. I knew they offered free admittance to certain museums I've just never taken advantage of it. Next time I'm in FLL I will.

    Thanks again!

  2. I waited too long to book Carnival transfers so now I'm looking for other options. My fault. I know better but it is what it is.

My husband and son (10) will be cruising on Carnival Imagination this Saturday (October 31).

I need to find them transportation to and from the port-Long Beach.

I'm trying to keep it easy for him and budget friendly (he's traveling without me God help him) He's use to me doing everything lol.

They will arrive very early Saturday morning.

    Options?

Can he just pick up a super shuttle or similar there at the airport? I am trying to avoid the cab as those seem to be very expensive.

I need cheap and easy lol.:eek:

Thanks in advance for your speedy help.

  3. sounds like a great stress free way to begin and end your cruise. room, breakfast, transportation to and from airport and port...that's great. it's a decent drive from hobby to Galveston.

    for a group of 4, I think that's reasonable.

we have in the past, rented a car one way from hobby and dropped it off in Galveston, then they shuttled us to the pier. that was the cheapest way we found of doing it. that was back in 2007 and I do not remember who we used.

I'm sure you could find cheaper ways of doing it, but your way includes a lot less stress I would think.

    have fun!

  4. No one is forced to go on a cruise...free will and all that. If someone doesn't like a cruiseline's "contract" they don't have to vacation with them. CCL has given passengers the choice, just like airline's have, of keeping their luggage with them and carrying it on and off...but then peeps think they need to pack their entire wardrobe and bring onboard all their latest electronic gadgets and fill their suitcase with stuff that really isn't necessary. I can easily pack for a 10 day trip and only fill an approved carryon size suitcase. Who cares if I wear the same thing twice and one of the reasons I no longer worry about dressing elegantly on formal night. Heh, many of us traveled Europe in our younger days with nothing but a back-pack for six weeks and we survived very nicely.

I can bring as many suitcases as i wish. This has nothing to do with the issue.

As long as we all just accept it and not hold businesses accountable for poor customer service, then they'll continue to do as they please at the very minimum. It is not unreasonable expectations to have your luggage (regardless of how many pieces) returned to you as you left it in their care. It is negligence on their part. They did not secure the luggage safely, overloaded the bins etc. It wasn't as if if one dock worker went crazy and decided to throw bags in the water.

Carnival, if not held responsible, should assist in holding the proper company accountable.

If you fly on an airline, they are responsible. it doesn't matter who pitches your bag in the cargo pit. Cruiselines should be held to the same standards and shame on us for just sitting back and accepting such crappy loopholes.

  5. No photographer needed. make it quiet, intimate and personal. that will be perfect. any open air deck would be great, underneath the stars, near the railing.

thanks for being in love and a romantic and sharing with us.

have a wonderful time and congratulations!

  6. My wife is my best friend and I love her with all my heart, weve been married 19 years in may. I want to make this cruise special. On our last cruise I was going to give her a much deserved upgrade on her wedding ring, but the finances wernt in place, so this time the ring has been bought and now I need recomendations on how to surpprise her and make it as special as possible. Thanks for any input.

    I consider myself a true romantic. I'm a woman.

I would say, depending on her personality.....is what you should do. Is she a showy "look at me" kind of gal? You know, does she like all the attention?

If not, a nice walk around the deck late at night, under the stars. Speak from the heart, and give her the ring. That would make me melt. Tell her you'd marry her all over again, etc. etc. You can make your own vows to say to her right there. Who needs a ceremony and $'s spent when you can do it yourself.

That's my opinion anyways, that would make me melt....and guarantee you would be getting lucky that night lol.

  7. Sounds like we all revolt and have CCL change their pathetic cruise contract. I personally think it's awful and piss poor customer service.

It's their easy out of being responsible.

Blaming the OP is not fair either.

And regardless of having insurance, one should not have to purchase insurance to cover something that Carnival, or the dock workers should be responsible for.

I promise you if this happened on an airline, people would be having a cow. I don't know why we give cruiselines a "free pass" on instances like this. I don't care what that stupid contract says. It's bad customer service.

  8. Booked two cabins at the same time, oceanview guarantee, traveling with immediate family. Carnival has assigned us cabins on separate floors, isn't that nice? One is a category 6B & other 6C. Even offered to take the lower categories as long as the rooms are nearby, don't even have to be next door to each other. For $300, they will downgrade us. Have been on over 25 plus cruises, 15 with Carnival, and I am a platinum carnival member. Totally aggravated with Carnival & their greediness.

I'm sorry, I don't understand why you are upset? You got what you paid for, an ocean view. They assign cabins wherever. Surely after 25+ cruises you know this.

I do not see this as greediness on CCL's part. If you wanted specific cabins you should have paid for that option.

sorry, count it as lesson learned and i hope you still enjoy your cruise.

  9. My ds now 10, has been on several cruises and loves it and camp. every night before we fall asleep, we take his schedule from camp (you are given it for the entire week) and we highlight (i always bring highlighters-different colors for each person) what he wants to do the next day.

We also bring a board game ie travel yahtzee or something like that, to play and wind down in our cabin at night before bed, waiting in the airport etc.

there will be plenty to keep them happy. the build a bear is great, and priced just right as well. ds still enjoys getting a new dog lol.

we have dinner as a family every night except i let him pick one or two nights to eat with camp if he chooses.

once, we had ice cream for breakfast. that's a huge treat for him because i usually don't allow junk food lol.

have fun, don't stress. The camp counselors are great!

  10. Besides Camp Carnival and the pool/water slide, what do your kids like to do the most while on board? :)

mine loves going to see the hasbro family game night show and he loves the "build a bear". I figure at any time now he'll outgrow the build a bear.

He also loves participating in the competitions they have around the ship, even some with the adults. He's 9 and been on about 6 cruises.

  11. we have been in the aft several times. it's not that big of a deal for us...we were on higher decks however.

Yes there is shaking you will certainly feel. I consider it our alarm when we are pulling in to ports. It wakes us up and gives us plenty of time usually to head out to our balcony and view.

Lower decks i can only imagine it would be more noticeable. I cannot say sound was an issue for us, but we were above the disco....

  12. My son and I cruised during Halloween and it was great. We loved it. I too like it least of the "holidays" but we had fun.

I didn't see anyone knocking on doors...but there was handing out of candy. People (many) were dressed in costumes and we had a "parade" and then a contest.

The photo backdrops were really cute too.

I told my husband to take vacation off again for this year so we could be on a ship during halloween.

    Have fun and enjoy.

  13. My daughter swears that they were required to have their passport when they debarked in Grand Turk for their honeymoon cruise last year aboard the Carnival Conquest last November.

She said they made announcements and actually "swiped/scanned" her passport after debarking there in GT.

Has anyone experienced this? It was a closed loop cruise, beginning and ending in Miami.

I have never had my passport swiped except at the airport for itn'l flights.

She said that it was on the tv in her cabin and they made several announcements reminding people.

Was this a special situation or do you think passports are required for debarkation in Grand Turk?

Either way, we are good, we have them. I'm just curious.

    Thanks in advance.

  14. We are booked for the Liberty April 4 out of Port Canaveral and just got info that they are moving the Valor to Port Canaveral instead. No biggie but..... The Valor does not have the 2.0 upgrades and hasn't been in Dry Dock in awhile and they are offering no compensation for the loss of amenities or inconvenience.

I know they can move ships, change policies, etc based on the ticket contract but I don't feel that a non 2.0 un refurbished ship is an equal experience.

Guess we'll have to think about if we still want to take Carnival that week.

When they did a swap of the Conquest and Splendor I was not happy either. I cancelled my cruise. I booked a specific ship for a reason. I agree that it's not the same.

  15. Yes. Carry on due to the fact that if they get busted or smashed they will not soak everyone else's clothes. I cannot stand it when I read about people hiding beer, liquor or wine in their checked bags. I would be so mad if my clothes got soaked from some alcoholics stash.

First off, crazyfrazee, carrying wine in a checked bag doesn't make you an alcoholic LOL. Exaggerate much? LOL

Wine, beer, juice, water, perfume, make up, sunblock, hand lotion etc.....any one of those items can spill and ruin someone's clothing. But thankfully, most people take precautions so they don't ruin there own items, much less someone else's stuff.

For those that don't protect spills, just be happy (which I'm sure you are)knowing that if they don't protect those bottles and it breaks, their stuff (and more of theirs) will be ruined before yours is.

    Smuggling for 13 cruises...never had a problem.
