  1. We canceled our Dominican Republic tour yesterday. We still plan to try & stop by and say Hi & meet you guys at the atrium bar 3:30 0n Tuesday. Then I hope to run into you all again after DR to hear all about the tour.

We are ready to sail. Haven't decided what we want to do in NY though, the day before cruise other then walk around, maybe check out central park.

Location suggestions needed please. I will be meeting people to hand out Magnets to those who have committed to meet with me for pick up.  Because  I have never been on this ship I dont know of a good place to pick as a meeting spot.. Im looking for somewhere that I can sit at a table and that people can find me at with no problem. What do you all suggest?  Thank you

I haven't been on the ship before, but in a video I watched a while ago, there was an area with tables, not congested with people, I'd have to look back to see deck # etc. but it was up above the lido deck, you can look down on the pool, I think there was also games on one side like ping pong etc, and lots of seats on the other side, some with tables. Just a thought.

  3. I use Keyano aromatics sun defense SPF 30. I only use this sunscreen on my face, & never burn anymore. I got it at the salon but you can find it many places online. It is from a skin care line. It is not oily or greasy. Great stuff.

  4. To those going on the Amber cove carnival tour we are signed up for, is anyone a tad nervous about going despite all going on in Haiti? We are considering cancelling that tour, will make a final decision next week. I also read they have armed guards with machine guns on the tour busses, this was from last year.  If the tours are that dangerous to be on before all this, I'm just unsure. I want to go though😏.

We have everything ready to go in the suitcases next week. Can't wait, looking forward to the cruise and meeting you all.

DonnaMarie- Im looking forward to getting the beautiful magnet, I ordered on the other site.

Can't believe we have a potential storm for next week.  Fingers crossed for perfect flying weather in a couple weeks. Safe travels to all.

  5. Hey Everyone, its getting close fast, Wooowhoooo!!!!

Regarding Amber Cove Tour- Hubby & I still have plans to be with you other 4 couples on the 9:30 tour. I will admit it makes us a tad nervous regarding the situation in Haiti.

Meeting on Tuesday at 3:30 Atrium bar sounds good to us for meeting, looking forward to it. Hopefully we won't be late we are doing the 2pm slot pull, providing the smoke smell don't do me in. Fineartsmama we are the same age as you & your husband.

Can't wait for this journey!! Bring on the palm trees. I get excited when I see my first palm so I know I'm officially on vacation. Wait, starting in NY this round will be different, no palms when I board. Once I hit NY vacation is official😊

  6. I was there last April.  Correct, you cannot use your cruise card to charge things in the port area Taino Bay. The lazy river did not have a lift. I did not find it easy either to get on the tube for the lazy river. But it was fun. I don't remember seeing any in the pool area either, and we swam around the entire area,  but that don't mean there wasn't.

Sorry I have no tips for you regarding wheelchair access. If I remember right the ground was very nice for wheelchairs, smooth & all new.

good Luck, have a good time.

  7. We docked at Tiano Bay in April, got off the ship and there was lots of individuals standing waiting to give you a guided tour, walk you into town, for what ever you wanted to see. They don't take no for an answer. It ended up being a good thing. No fee, just tip at the end. So it is an option to wing it just walk out of the gated area and they will find you.

  8. We'll see ya on the tour, looking forward to it.

I'm enjoying the buildup to the cruise, its half the fun. It's almost February, that's when I'll start getting my stuff ready for packing day & make sure I have everything from my master list.

We had 4" of snow this week, our coldest day yet was today, but so far not a bad winter. Looking forward to palm trees & tropical breezes.

  9. Happy new year!

I am now in full cruise mode. We also paid with the aarp cards. Good deal! Another Great tip I learned on cruise critic.

In Ambor cove we are also considering the coffee, cooking, casa tour.  All 5 star reviews is rare. It has been years since we booked a cruise sponsored excursion. I hope the drive is not to excessively bumpy. I need to decide before it sells out. Anyone have more info then what is on carnival site?

Almost double digits til we set sail. Wooowhooo!!

     Looking forward to warm weather.

  10. I had a connecting room for my upcoming cruise, but wanted one that was not. I saw one came available this weekend, same floor, same category. It was to late on a weekend to call my PVP, so I just called Carnival and they switched it for me, very quickly, no problem, no fees.
