1. My daughter and I are looking to stay one night in between cruises in the Port Canaveral area. Since we will disembark fairly early, we hope to spend the day at the beach so were looking for a hotel that we could at least drop our bags off, change into our suits and walk to a beach closeby until our room becomes ready. Would appreciate some good suggestions on where we can get a decent hotel that would fit the above description. Does not have to be fancy but safe and clean. Would be helpful if it has a decent restaurant or is within walking distance of one. I usually stay in Marriotts for work but wasn't sure if the ones in this area fit the bill.

    Thanks for the help.

  2. Thanks for the review! I'll be there on Wednesday and can't wait to check it out for myself. I noticed there's a rather negative review of the property on the Carnival excursion site from a very displeased customer. Their accounts of what happened on that day are polar opposites of what everyone else has said between Rocky Shores and the original location. I was surprised to see such a negative opinion of the place.... makes me wonder what really happened that day. I'll be sure to snap pics and post up a review once I return from my trip as well!

I guess everyone has different expectations and experiences based on who they are and how they act. We were looking for a little more upscale then usual and a more quiet/refined experience and felt that we had just that. My DH and I both agreed we would do it again for a peaceful, relaxing day at the beach. Like I said, the only downside for us was the rocky beach area, would have enjoyed it more if we could have just waded out easily and floated in the sea....

  3. WE just got off the ship and I was posting reviews about this place. Thought since you all were asking, you might like my review:

A great way to relax and be pampered!!

We have been to Cozumel many times and have visited various beach resorts and areas where you pay one price and food, drinks, beach are all included. We were looking for something a little more "upscale" and private and this excursion fit the bill. We were greeted by Alexis warmly, given a sticker and shown to a shady spot at the port while we waited for others from our ship to gather, the tour promised a small, intimate group and there were 28 of us in all, really a perfect group. It was myself and my husband, both early 50s. Shown to vans in groups of 6, we were quickly at the hacienda and being introduced to our hosts for the day. There were a chef, our bartender, a couple of waiters and Alexis, plus a massage (extra charge) if we wanted one. Everything else was included, from the welcome freshly squeezed lemonade, they had thought of everything! Towels were provided, lounge chairs, hammocks, comfy outdoor beds, the house was simple but very clean and nicely furnished, two bathrooms inside and two out, both spotless with soap and towels. Forget your water shoes, no problem, they were provided, snorkel gear and floats also. A small pool for cooling off overlooked the beach, (which is private) and you could pick shade or sun for your day of relaxing. Drinks in hand we were then given choices of the menu of the day, fajitas, tacos, mexican baked grouper, all very good, plus freshly cooked corn chips with fresh made salsa and guacamole (so tasty). We are asked when we would like our lunch served and there are tables set up outside under shade for your dining pleasure. The only thing we felt that was lacking was there was really no music, we would have really enjoyed hearing some nice background tunes to relax by. My only other complaint (and I guess seeing the Rocky Shores in the name should have tipped me off, there are a lot of rocks and coral at the entrance to get into the water (thus the water shoes) but it was very, very uneven and hard to get in and out of the water. Once you were out in deeper water it was better, but it was a little hard to navigate. Highly recommend the tour for a couple or some friends wanting to just do nothing but relax and be pampered, but please note this about the beach area.

We had a great time, but I did think it was a little overpriced for Mexico but, since it was kept to a small group and the service was so good, we were happy to have the day of R&R.

  4. PD - I can also confirm that they will drop off at the airport - the rational behind that is that there is a hotel at the Airport so they treat it as a drop off at the hotel when in fact they go the short extra distance to the terminal.

    Cheers

I checked with them and they will drop off at the airport, but....we need to be there by 2pm and they will not guarantee this, so I am still looking for a tour with drop off.

    Thanks, Laenie

  5. Hi, I searched but have not seen this question yet...we are arriving into Vancouver off the Disney Magic and have a 4:30pm flight, we have never been to Vancouver and would love a little ride around the town, then drop off at the airport in time for the flight. Do you know of anyone who would do this?

    Thanks a bunch! Laenie

  6. We will be stopping at Mo Bay, Jamaica & its our first time there...

My fiance is really interested in the ruins, but we read that its a pretty long commute to get to them. We are doing snorkeling/sting ray city in Grand Cayman and now we don't know if we should stick with the ruins in Jam...We are also interested in the zip lining, but afraid of some of the jungle bugs (we saw a crazy Discovery channel show about some type of bug that can crawl into your skin and actually eats on your muscles... I know, I freak about everything..) and the building standards.

Has anyone done any of these OR did another excursion that was fun? I would love any ideas! :o

In Jamaica we did the Sandals resort, it is an adults only, all inclusive. We had a great time, small but nice beach with shade, a swim up bar at the pool, either sit down to eat or a beach grill and you can even take a little boat over to their island where they're spa is (we didn't do this but it looked neat!). It was a nice, relaxing day we spent there and it was a pretty place.

  7. We had 6225 and did not notice any difference from our midship Verandah cabin we had the cruise before' date=' as far as movement/noise/wind. Did not hear any noise from theater either. I don't think there is a "bad" balcony on the Conquest! going on our 4th and trying the aft this time. :)[/color']

Which aft will you have? We just got off the conquest and had an aft on deck 8, very nice and the balcony was extended!

  8.
Ok so I have a question...since noone is on the boards for jamaica and talking about what to do there I'll ask here...been to Jamaica twice this year and both times went to doctors cave beach and margaritaville so looking for something else to do...what excursions have yall done? Anyone recommend anything? Thanks in advance...
I have been to Jamaica numerous times also and wanted to do something different, we did the Sandals all-inclusive day and had a fun time. The resort we went to was very nice, shaded chairs on the beach, all the liquor you would ever want, nice sandy beach and swim-up bar in pool. We ate lunch at the grill but you can also go into the resturant. We left the ship at 11 am and boarded the shuttle back to the ship at 3:30pm, plenty of time to soak in the sun and relax.
