I know at least a good 8-10 people who got the vaccine and still got the virus. Some of them even got it bad too including one death unfortunately. A great example look at the NY Yankees 90% off the team was vaccinated and what happened? About 10 people got the virus.
8 of the 9 Yankees that got it were asymptomatic, showing the vaccine works. They only tested positive since MLB does daily tests. If they were regular people they never would have been tested. If these Yankees were tested who knows what symptoms they could have had.
However, it does show why we should be wearing masks even if vaccinated since it could spread but CDC threw that out the window.....

Those guidelines are only for ships bypassing the test cruise phase. Since it looks like Carnival is planning test cruises it doesn’t seem like they’re going that the 98%/95% route (except for Alaska, for now)

Since Carnival has already put protocols in place for fully vaccinated cruises (Alaska) what if they offer two types of cruises as the industry gets bsck up and running? Some ships that require all passengers be vaccinated and some that do not. This way they offer sailings for all demographics, appealing to those who want to sail only with vaccination while also appealing to families with children and those who do not want/can’t get the vaccine.

NCL crew who aren’t vaccinated are joining the ship in Aruba where they will undergo quarantine for 2 weeks in a private room. They will then be vaccinated after testing negative at the port (maybe Miami?).

That's not accurate, I just went to the NCL website and Jade is bookable, not frozen.
Jade sailings were originally starting July 25, now the first one available is August 29. Our guess is that they're pushing the season back and won't be ready to sail by July.

What’s weird as well is that they’re no longer offering the BOGO airfare promo for the 8/29 sailing. We’re booked for the 8/29 sailing so I’m hoping it happens but who knows…
8/29 is now under 90 days away so the option for air is no longer available in the website but in Terms & Conditions it says you can do it for Jade sailings up to 60 days before. If you call them they will manually add it for you. It’s just that the website is only built for the 90 day rule.

Now all the sailings before 8/29 have disappeared from the site completely. That means tomorrow morning we are going to get an unfortunate email 😕

From what I've been told by someone who I really trust, the itin won't be cancelled but the ship is changing to a different ship in the same class. That was as of last week though so maybe it will change next week lol
Any chances they switch to a larger ship and give me back the Joy I was stripped of? 😋
(I know that’s a no)

Just rebooked my. cancelled Gem for the Bliss. My PCC could not give me the air promotion because we’re inside 90 days. I’ve heard people say they have been able to get them to honor the cancelled promotion. Anyone have any tips for how to get them to give me the air?
I got a voicemail from guest relations saying they’re going to add the air promotion for the Bliss shortly that allows you to add it if your at 60+ days from sailing so just keep checking. Maybe tomorrow or Tuesday?

Huge eye roll.
"We have been working diligently towards our resumption of operations, focusing on providing you with the very best experience while keeping your health and safety at the forefront. As announced earlier this week, our highly anticipated U.S. return to service will begin with cruises at reduced capacity from Seattle to Alaska starting on August 7, 2021 with Norwegian Bliss. This means however, that we must unfortunately cancel voyages aboard Norwegian Gem with embarkation dates from August 15,
2021 through October 10, 2021." -

Just got off the phone with a CAS rep who said my Gem sailing on the 15th was temporarily "frozen" for new bookings while they are exploring departing from other ports. Other people on the same cruise have been told it has been cancelled via website chat and others have been given different answers on the phone.
Who knows what NCL is doing at this point other than making fools out of themselves and irritating their most loyal customers by cancelling their first "RETURN TO CRUISING" sailing on the Joy and doing this to the Gem after announcing yesterday it was still going as scheduled.
I literally just booked Gem 8/15 a few hours ago and the CAS rep let me after my Joy cruise was cancelled. This is nonsense!

For those who want to be heard, I spoke with the Resolutions Desk and while she said she couldn’t help me right then and there, that I should send in a case submission form.
https://www.ncl.com/case-submission
While the 10% offered is laughable, my main issue is that if I rebook Bliss or Gem for the same week or even the week after, which is when I’m off from work, they can’t extend the air promo to me because it’s <90 days from sailing. I’m not trying to swindle NCL, I just want a fair resolution: my booking transferred. Had NCL made these changes two weeks ago I could have hopped over the to Gem easily!

Can you imagine the expense of operating the Joy out of Jamaica. Having to transport provisions and fuel for 4500 passengers through the hurricane season to Jamaica weekly. Everything from food to booze to toilet paper to merchandise for the giftshops. Having to export all of that from the US and import it into Jamaica.
Profit, maybe. Prevent themselves from losing their shirt, just trying to get restarted, definitely.
BTW: Where to you think that the crew schedule for the Joy are going???? Hint Hint... Alaska.
Exactly. NCL made it clear in the their announcement that Joy was cancelled to bring the crew to Bliss for The shortened Alaska season. See Page 10 of this thread.

ok so.... Where is the Joy going if its not slated to begin service in Miami until after the Jamaica sailings were over anyway? Why piss all of your loyal guests that have reinvested FCC after FCC into you just to free up a ship to go... nowhere? Theres got to be more to this we dont know.
The Joy will just float. Sounds like they were all set with the Joy but because of the announcement that ships can sail from US States NCL thought they’d profit more with a ship in Alaska from a domestic port than W Caribbean from an international one. The one thing Joy had that Bliss didn’t was a full crew. End result: us pax get screwed

I jumped ship to RCL Symphony . Got a great price on a suite , cruising from Miami with 4 stops. Free wifi, free boozes. Changed our flights. If THIS cruise cancels I will become apoplectic!
Just looked at Royal - some decent rates I think we may jump to them too.

Does anyone have any screen grab or anything in writing that says something about how these sailings were "sure" to sail?
-
I guess it can't hurt! Yes, get a sales rep and ask for a supervisor.

Thanks for this. We were looking at going to Athens since our August 7 Joy cruise was cancelled. However, we are not able to book the airfare promotion. This sucks.
Same here. That was the one option of the three we were interested in but if they can't extend the same promotions as the ones we lost, we are out.
-
Get this kicker
You can't add the airfare promotion if you're 90+ days from sailing. Even though I had it on Joy 8/7, even if I transferred to Bliss 8/7 or Gem 8/15 they won't offer me that promotion. The least NCL could do would be to offer us to rebook under the same promotions we had due to their egregious changes.
-
I just called NCL to make a formal "complaint" and asked that it be documented and escalated. I wasn't rude but I was firm, bringing up everything in this thread. The representative said the more people who call, the better and that it has led to NCL making changes in decisions in the past. Not sure this will do anything but worth a shot.
In the meantime, I will not be rebooking anything.

If they transferred the crew from Joy to Bliss it's only fair to transfer the passengers too!

Word from my PCC is a 10% coupon as our only consolation for our canceled Joy sailing. I am waiting to hear back if it will be in addition to the ones we already have on our account or if they are keeping the 1 per account limit that they've had for all the canceled sailings over the past months. If it doesn't stack, then this is no different than the compensation they were offering for a normal COVID cancellation, which is NOT acceptable, since NCL made a conscious choice to cancel this sailing after having assured us these Return to Sail cruises would actually happen.
Edit: Just got a follow-up. It does not stack with our existing 10% coupons, so just a straight refund. As of right now, I think I am OUT.
Do you think it's worth writing a letter or speaking with someone with this argument? I think it's valid, but I also don't know if NCL will care.

Switch to one of the cruises on the Gem? Might as well take a cruise during the same time-frame if you've got the credit you have to burn
I’m not Jamie but I thought about this too.
The Gem prices are significantly more expensive, and while the itinerary is great, I’m not too psyched about the ship itself (have been on Gem 3x and I was looking forward to the Joy!). If NCL allowed me to transfer my booking at the price I paid I’d consider it though.
Appears as though the Jade August sailings are about to get the Gem/Joy treatment.

The Jade 8/22 sailing is back, and several rooms in every category are available so I don’t think it was ever actually ‘sold out.’
7/25 8/1 8/8 are all still missing from the site...
