  1. Love the spa on the Splendor - spent tons of time there. We have a spa balcony booked again for January - can't wait.

I also love the fact that the aft pool is adults only!!! Great fun to sit there in the late morning and they come around with the bloody mary cart - heaven!!

The steak house on the Splendor is very nice -- I found it much more elegant than both the Dream and the Magic.

Happy that there's a Red Frog Rum Bar now by the Splendido pool! Looking forward to that as well as returning to Belize and Roatan -- and going to Grand Cayman for the first time.

  2. Anyone ever do this? Just cruise with NO plans in place? What did you end up doing?

We're going to Grand Cayman, Belize, Roatan, and Cozumel -- it will be our first time at GC and on the advice of friends who have been there a few times, we're thinking of renting car...but not planning on anything definite.

We've been to Belize, Roatan, and Coz and are happy to wing it in all three places...

  3. Heading out on our 6th cruise in January - 3rd time on the Splendor.

Love the Cloud 9 Spa so we always sail ships that have it.

Love the service - agree with others who have said they've never had anything but excellent service - neither have we!

    I know what to expect.

    Love the beds :) Silly, I know...but it's the little things :)

    Love John Heald.

  4. Incredibly sad :( It is tragic that things like this happen.

I visited Roatan on the Dream in October - we got off the ship and took a taxi to West Bay Beach and had a wonderful time - I certainly did not ever feel in danger or anymore uncomfortable than I have felt on other islands in the Caribbean.

  5. We're booked in 1103 on the Splendor for our January 2015 sailing. We have sailed in Spa cabins on the Splendor (twice), the Magic, and the Dream -- we would not book any other.

We sailing the Dream in a Spa Interior this past October -- I would spring for the balcony -- going back to the interior after two spa balconies in a row was hard :D. You really do get used to the extra space and the light :D

Access to the spa is fantastic...I don't think we'd sail a Carnival ship without a thalasso pool!

  6. How many nights? We usually plan on $100 per person/per day for anything and everything - we certainly do NOT drink $100/pp per day! So that would be for things we do on the ship (including drinks), on shore activities (we typically do not book excursions via the ship), etc.

  7. The multi-jet showers, aromatherapy steam rooms, thermal loungers, thalassotherapy pool, etc are only available for use if you have a spa cabin or purchase a day pass or weekly pass (limited number available) for the Cloud 9 spa -- the ladies and mens LOCKER room/shower areas are available for use by all and I believe there is a "regular" steam or sauna in those areas but if you want to use the cool stuff....gotta have a spa cabin or a pass.....the showers in the locker rooms are a little bit bigger than the one in your cabin? But unless you've got a regular cabin close to the spa? Not really worth the trek in MHO - get a pass for the week - well worth it.

We won't book anything but Spa Cabins - it's one of the reasons we continue to book ships that have them....

  8. We just booked our third cruise on the Splendor - my sixth with Carnival, hubby's fifth.

We choose our ships for very specific reasons -- Spa Cabins being the number one priority for us. We have a Spa Balcony on the sailing in January 2015 sailing. I've sailed in both interior Spa and Balcony Spa....unfortunately, I must admit that it IS difficult to back to an interior after a balcony - I just felt claustrophobic.

We also really enjoyed the adult pool on the Splendor. We like the Punchliner Comedy Club -- we don't really partake much in the entertainment - maybe some karaoke :D but that's about it. Love the steakhouse and usually dine there at least twice.

I really wanted to book the Breeze but the Splendor itinerary with Belize, Roatan AND Grand Cayman won us over.

Can't speak to NCL...but I can speak for the Splendor and we love her.

  9. Love the Splendor! Sailed her twice while she was in L.A. and we're on her again in January 2015.

We DID pick a week when we can avoid unruly teens as much as humanly possible :D.

We're also very strategic when we cruise -- we book Spa Cabins, on the Spa deck. The days on the ship consist of Spa, Adult Pool, Serenity, Spa, more Spa, Steakhouse, bed. :D
