  1. Well one hesitates to contradict Copper 10-8 from whom we enjoy his many great insights and super information, especially about HAL, the ships and the folks who sail them. But in this case he has a small error. This is not the first time Captain Jeroen Schuchmann has sailed the ms Amsterdam. We joined Jeroen in San Diego, Dec 2019, prior to our WC2020, for our Holiday Cruise. We know he had captained the ship into the South Pacific. Jeroen did come from the Prinsendam where we first met him as he worked for Captain Tim Roberts.
  2. Appreciate your entry. Saw the same article first thing this morning. Despite the snub-- while not a 'luxury line' we deem HAL quite better than some listed AND we are taking, and are going to enjoy, the WC 2020.
  3. Yes, I guess I wasn't specific enough. Ian will be the combined CD/EXC Director on the Grand SA departing Jan 5. After the Volendam refit, the ship will be configured with all the gadgets to support the EXC task. Ian is quite impressed with the new look and he will make a super CD. As mentioned, you folks enjoy. If we were not on the Grand World, we might repeat the Grand SA just to sail again with Ian.
  4. We lunched with Ian prior to him joining his new ship ms Volendam in Vancouver, BC. We have always found Ian to be bright, personally helpful and on all occasions upbeat. He appeared to be at the top of his game most positively chatting about the revised position he is undertaking. His ship finishes the Alaska run, sails thru the Panama and undertakes a refit prior to the Grand South America. Guests sailing with Ian are quite fortunate to have him on board. Enjoy...
  5. As Vancouverites thank you for the most positive report on your one day visit to Vancouver. We love the city and surrounds, except the traffic. We have thoroughly enjoyed your many 'Treasures' reports from your WC2019, and look forward to meeting you on our first WC2020. T&L.
