  1. First time cruiser on a 14 day to abc then cozumel. Trying to pack and finding myself feeling like I will most certainly forget something useful. Any tips would be appreciated.

The walls in the cabin will hold magnets. I bring several clip magnets to hold the daily patter (initial patter usually has the cruise at a glance....save this on the wall to keep track of the cruise...formal nights ... hours in port ), shore excursion tickets etc. also have magnets with hook to hang ball caps/ sun hats/ sweater for cool dining room

    highlighters to mark patter

Pop up hamper to hold dirty clothes

led candles to help light the room a little at night

    small flash light

    lanyard to hold cruise card

  2. It's only a 6 day cruise. Location could be an issue: I think I recall someone saying that some suites are not in the best areas of the ship. I called back, but the contact person was gone for the day. We are sailing with friends as well and have 3 cabins side by side. Not sure if we want to move or if the offer still stands. Someone else may have grabbed it.

If you are sailing with friends.........only you receive the suite benefits.

If you decide to spend dining time with friends, you will miss Sabatini breakfast .....I think specialty dining is on 6 days or longer cruise ........your friends would have to pay.

Still get laundry and mini bar ..........

IMHO I would stay near friends.........but you could have a big party in your room and order off the menu!

  3. We were just offered an upsell from our mini-suite to a deluxe suite: cat S3-S4 for $399 pp. Is this a good deal? We are sailing on the Crown.

As others have stated....how long is the cruise and itinerary ?

We just took and upsell to a suite on a 16 day south east Asia cruise...suite benefits plus larger room ( sailing with our daughter....she is in another cabin).

    Very excited about upsell!

  4. So sorry you had less than expected service. We also love the Regal.

You said you were wine drinkers...........did you try Vines? On the Regal and the Royal they are a full service as well as wine bar. We were there most nights before dinner.

On our last cruise on the Royal..........many had the sip and sail (AIBP). We did not experience any problems with service. My DH bought the package and I did not. Did enjoy several bottles of wine with 40% discount ( for me) and some bubbly.

We also attended the wine makers dinner and chef's table on that cruise........and both were outstanding.

Just reread your post and I do think that the turn over of staff in December may have contributed to the slower service.

We have been fortunate to have the same bar staff in Vines on several of our cruises and they were leaving for contract break before Christmas.

  5. You will get a better deal if you buy the beer during the happy hours twice a day.........see patter for place and time. You would buy one bottle and get second for a dollar. You can ask not to open them. Keep in fridge in room.

Like Thrak....never heard of mini bar set up unless in suite or elite.

  6. I'm not sure what all the problems are that people are having but we haven't had any issues with the card whatsoever; in fact, we have been receiving our double points for Princess charges, single points for all other charges and have recently redeemed points for credit toward our payment. Sorry for those that have had the issues.

Glad you have had such good luck with redeeming points.

We are receiving our points......but have over 60,000 points and still waiting for the powers that be to be able to get a statement credit.

We took a cruise in October and were told it did not fall under the 180 days. They are now researching it and hopefully will have answer soon! We paid for an upcoming cruise in December ..........that also does not show. If this does not work out to our satisfaction.....will cancel card.

  7. Are we still able to get OBC for our points with the Princess card? Just wondering.

Yes......just go to web site and click on rewards and benefits.......then you can get your on board credit. If you have 40,000 points you can get $500 o board credit.

  8. I guess I need to be more specific! I have looked at pictures and read a few reviews. Is one cabin better than another?? Are the Lido cabins larger than the Marina deck cabins? M107 looks like there is a stairway alongside the cabin, possibly making it smaller. I do see the M cabins have a bigger balcony, but are the cabins on lido deck a lot bigger?

We booked M107, but I was just curious if one of the other corner cabins came available, should I grab it? Just opinions please!

    THANK YOU!

    Janet

We stayed in M107 and loved this cabin and would book it again. The cabins are the same size but our bedroom had more space than living area and no curtain to close off the two areas. The TV in room M107 is not close to the other TV as the other videos showed for L107. All the closet space is in the bedroom as opposed to right as you come in the door. The bed is also facing forward and no chair in room.

There is also more storage space under TV in bedroom in M107. Deck is only slightly covered and as you can see from videos, very large. We had the teak furniture on our balcony. From the balcony you can see forever, side to back of ship and every thing forward.

We have also stayed in forward facing balcony on both Lido and Marina.

I would not change from this cabin, but all things are relative. The closets and storage are all in the bedroom and the bathroom is around the corner. Lido is the reverse.

Have also checked out these other mini suites when we stayed in forward facing regular balcony.

    Hope this helps.

  9. This year in the spring we did a TA to Barcelona and in October we did the r/t LA to Hawaii . We loved the sea days on both cruises. The days seemed to fly by. As everyone has reported there are lots of activities to pass the time...........or just fill your days with reading, exploring, or naps and some activities.

On the TA we were in a balcony on the front of the ship (Royal). On port days it was awesome to get up early and go out on our balcony as we came into new cities. We could drink our coffee from room service.

On the Hawaii cruise we booked an obstructed ocean view on Emerald deck ( not too obstructed). Down the stairs to deck 7 and out the door to see the ocean or ports. With only 5 port days....this worked out well for us.

  10. Thank you everyone for your responses. We decided to go with the obstructed view and since it was upgraded we got a cabin that has the "least amount of obstruction" according to our TA. Plus, it was upgraded to mid ship. I looked at the deck plans (thank you for the link) and it looks like it's going to be fine for us.

I will admit that there is nothing quite like a balcony. However, the difference in price is going toward our airfare and hotel. On the east coast we just have to drive down.

This site has a plethoria of information. I have a feeling I'm going to be very busy reading and gathering a lot of info.

    Happy Sailing!!

We just completed 15 day on the crown in October with Emerald obstructed view. My husband is usually a balcony only man........but did surprising well with this cabin. We could pop down to deck 7 to get outside when we wanted. We usually went up to the Lido deck for breakfast. We also went to have cocktails before getting dressed for late dining.

You can really make this work for you. We also live on east coast and had air and hotel to factor in.

We received a great last minute deal on our cabin. Would we do it again ....definitely.

We spend the sea days exploring the ship, playing trivia and enjoying the entertainment and fun on deck 5.

Port days were really busy and we were off the ship almost the whole port time.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  11. We are on a 10 day Caribbean cruise on the Royal in December and we have booked a mini suite room M204.

I started to get an idea about changing after reading posts here as it looks like there is a great deal of availability showing on the Princess website for our cruise.

Should we consider one of the forward facing minis that have huge balconies? It looks like we can do that for the same price that we paid.

It appears that some of them have both side and forward facing areas. I do realize that we may be staying inside if it's windy (we are boaters). I also don't want to be underneath the fitness center or some loud venue.

    What is everyone's opinion?

    Thanks in advance!!

We have stayed in M108 Mini and loved it ( a little windy when at sea) but large balcony ..........also stayed L102 for a TA & M101 to the Caribbean. Larger forward facing balcony is wonderful....pretty much protected from wind. Noise was not a problem on either deck.

If I had my choice would always book these rooms.

  12. ?!I have not cruised Princess in 4 years but have decided to do a cruise to Hawaii on the Grand Princess with family. When I try to book any cabin (other than expensive mini suite) it tells me that my deposit will not be refundable for any reason . Since the cruise is six months out I am shocked - have never heard of such a practice on any cruise line! Is this now normal for Princess??

  13. Does anyone have a price list for pressing services? I am thinking of packing a couple of dresses for my next cruise that I am afraid won't travel well. I know you can do them yourself in the laundry rooms, but I hate pressing clothes and don't know why I even bought these dresses to begin with. (Actually I do, they are super cute :), but I still don't want to iron. ) I tried a search and google and couldn't come up with an answer.

list from April shows :press only ?$9.00 ( this is for cleaning)

  14. WOW, just wow.....the CP is outstanding....glad we didn't pay attention to some of the negative reports we read.....

we flew into London the same day as embarkation (which we never do but couldn't turn down EZ air price.....all was good with EZ Air

we have 26 cruises with Princess...this was by far the fastest embarkation ever.... in Southampton...

So far we have only have eaten at the buffet...some of best variety and quality ever....ship is in GREAT shape...still looking for all the "run down" parts....as usual staff is outstanding.

I noticed little cards in buffet area for the first time... on every table....i will paraphrase..." please don't sit here all day playing cards and reading when folks are looking for a place to sit and eat"...or words to that effect.

first time with the sip and sail program....after one day we put it to use pretty hard...best idea ever since they started putting pockets on T shirts.....

we got note in our room ...elite laundry may take 3 days due to all the elites on this cruise....i am sure this will generate calls and protests for a super secret "double special elite" status...

if you have a cruise on this ship planned, i really think you all enjoy it....sadly,we only have 28 more days left on this cruise.

This makes me more excited to sail her again in November!

  15. Just booked my first Princess cruise in about 15 years so I'm not familiar with this line. We have booked D510 - a mini-suite, o the Emerald.

How do I find out if the balcony is steel or glass?

Anyone know anything about this cabin?

    Are refrigerators/chillers in the staterooms?

    Thank you,

    Jane

    Fridge in room.

This balcony should not be steel but see through for the balcony.

  16. Hey everyone! I'm booked in cabin L101 for my 15 day Mediterranean cruise next June. The cabin is a forward facing balcony and it notes that the cabin is locked when not in port due to winds. Trust me, I've looked at YouTube videos of the room and have read that the balcony isn't locked during sea days. My question, how windy is it generally in the Mediterranean in June? We're in port 13 out of the 15 days so I'm hoping it won't be much of an issue! This is our first time with a forward facing balcony, first time being so far forward, and first time being so high up. This is a dream trip for us so we're super excited! Thanks for the help! Never cruised the Med before so this is all new to me! Lol

    Love the forward facing balcony.

We have had M108, M101 ( both Caribbean cruises) and L102 in April 2016 for a TA to Barcelona. I think you will really like this cabin since your cruise is so port intensive. Sailing into the new ports especially Lisbon and Gibraltar was amazing. The balcony is very private and large.

Easy access to breakfast buffet for those early morning excursions.

On port days wind was not a problem and we were usually up early and outside to view the new ports and after leaving port we stayed on balcony till sunset or later.

You will get a lot of exercise with this cabin.

  17. Are mimosas included in the

    All-Inclusive Beverage Package?

Just can't seem to get an answer. TIA

Yes they are! If you want them for breakfast order OJ and a small bottle of Korbel and make your own!

  18. I just booked a cruise on the Crown Princess for next year. I did the booking online on the Princess website. When I booked the cruise, it fell under the category for getting the current all inclusive beverage package for balcony cabins. I am looking through the emails I got back from Princess though and don't see any mention of the free package. Is this usual? I looked online at the booking also and didn't see the free package mentioned? I just want to make sure we are getting that promotion.

    Thanks.

Go into your cruise personalizer and pretend you are going to purchase the Beverage package and as you scroll down it will show as complimentary and the price p/p shows up.
