  1. I think the best deal with the UBP is that you can order Johnny Blue for just the $4 upcharge. Pretty much ended every night with one of those back in the cabin ;)
    .

How long ago did you do this as I believe the Price for JW Blue has increased to $35??? I ordered a Remy XO in November on the Breakaway and that used to cost me the same as your JW Blue. I asked the bartender in Prime Meridian how much that would be and it came out to additional $24 so I said no thanks.

  2. Not sure when you booked your cruise, but according to the "fishy" site, there were some price drops on most categories on 2/10/2017. Might be worth a look for your booking :)

I have and my cruise has actually gone up over $2000 since I booked as I got 3rd and 4th passengers free which is now gone. I got the DOS for $9k and it is now over $11k. Thank you for the insight though as I am always looking out for bargains when availlable.

  3. St. Martin has the best prices. If your after a real top shelf bottle there, just remember the better prices tend to be at the shops that are farther away from the beach and farther away from the cruise pier. San Juan only had good prices on the cruise pier. St. Thomas seemed to only be a buck or so more than St. Martin so it depends on how much time you want to spend looking.

FYI Last year on St. Martin

1 litre Bombay Saphire 12 bucks, 1 litre Grey Goose 19 (Celebrity was running a 5 for 100 for comparison). Johnny Walker Blue fifth I am almost sure it was 90 bucks.

For the most part St Martin shops run parallel to the water and away from the cruise pier. I was told that most of the shops up front are all run by the same families, prices are similar and a bit higher. The shops with better prices are more on the back streets.

The ship will tell you they will price match. They do. However, they won't take your word for it so you need to take a cellphone picture of the shelf with the bottle, date stamp and prices. The shops know this and understandably don't allow pictures. I was almost ejected out of a store in St. Kitts for taking one picture.

I second St. Maarten. Especially for high end cognacs and scotch. Bought a high end Hennessy Paradis in SXM for $275. It costs $700 at my local store in the states.

  4. I think the dry dock is now 3/19 to 4/4, right? Kid Rock cruise is the first post-renovation cruise and the 4/9 Western will be the first post-dry dock cruise open to the public, so we should get some details when they return.

I am in the DOS on the 4/9 cruise and will try to post as many pics as the internet will allow while onboard.

  5. Thanks so much for this info- I totally missed seeing the Jade sailings out of Miami as I thought only Dawn & Sun did the Southern trips. I just booked us for the 10 night out of Miami for December 2018.

Not sure if you would be interested in this one but we are booked on the Jade out of POM on 3/23/18 on a 10 night cruise with some really nice ports of call.

  6. Does anyone know if they hold back cabanas for haven guests? I would like to rent one but want to use OBC and am afraid they will be gone by the time we get onboard.

Call the shorex number and have them reserve one for you. They won't charge you until you are on board and use the excursion. This also allows you to get the $50 shore excursion credit and the latitudes discount if those are applicable to you.

  7. Being platinum and staying in the Haven that only winds up being one or less nights in the MDR. Three day SDP package, two platinum certificates, and two other dining choices which normally wind up being in the Haven restaurant unless it is one of the older restaurants without a Haven restaurant. Sometimes we miss the MDR though.

  8. Being a gopher is easy don't feel so sorry for her they all get tipped well and have a easier job than the folks on the cruise. On average they make $1000 a week non taxed on top of there pay. Just to run food back and forth to rooms . Cooking and cleaning is much harder and those folks get paid way less

I don't care what people get paid. If someone in the service industry does a great job and I feel they deserve a tip then I believe they deserve one. Whether its the guy wiping down my car after the car wash or the butler in my suite. To each his own.

  9. Curious to know if the 4 cruises I have booked in the Haven will be honored under the previous program? Bookings would have provided 21 points for a seven day cruise or if they are now only going to provide 14 points for a 7 day cruise? Under the old program I would be platinum plus by the end of the year.

  10. Funny u said you felt you didn't experience the ship cause u stayed in the haven that was my concern too .. I know I would something like that so the aft might force me not to do that .. so I will consider that a plus .. I think we will have breakfast in bed every morning and do a second breakfast somewhere else if we are still hungry .. I guess once I get on ship I will see if I really regret it or not

We were in 9316 on the BA and the balcony was bigger than most rooms onboard. Breakfast on your HUGE balcony every morning is awesome. Eggs Benny and Filet while you enjoy the beautiful fresh sea air. Priceless!!!! Just don't forget to tip your butler well as it is a lot of work bringing breakfast all the way down from the Haven restaurant.
