I have 13 cabins (26 people) going on the Quantum on January 3rd. For us, the ship is the destination. The ports are a nice side effect. Don't care where the ship is going - just got me on it. :)

Find a price you are comfortable with. Book at that price. Don't look at any more price drops after you make the committment to book. If you have flexibility, wait until after final payment to see if you can get it at a better deal - if the ship is not sailing you can likely find something within a month before sailing.

Will commercials for the Super Bowl be shown during a cruise? Well that is a first. I could see caring if "your" team was in the Super Bowl that you were able to watch it. But, questioning the commercials. Ugh.....
There are many of us who couldn't care less who is in the Super Bowl, and watch ONLY for the commercials...

Whatever category you decide, look for something that is closer to one of the elevator banks. The Oasis is a huge ship, and there are no mid-ship elevators.
-
Which ship?
There were MANY wine tastings offered on board the Oasis of the Seas.

Until my Dec 7 Oasis cruise, points have been posted quickly and accurately.
"Improved" website is to blame, as far as I can tell.
My Dec 7 Oasis cruise has not been updated on the site either. Ugh.

You need to choose which is better for you - the discount or the OBC.

My dad got one of these, and he's currently deciding when to go.

Greetings all!
I will be on the sailing on 1/3/15 - in fact, my friends and I have a total of 12 cabins book (with the possibility of more coming on board!)
We are all so excited to be saiilng out of our home port - I've been out of Port Liberty many times, but quite a few of my friends had their first cruise last month on the Oasis, and are very excited to be able to drive to the port rather than having to fly to the port.
I look forward to 2014 bringing more fun Quantum news - and to continuing to speculate with all of you!

Does the Oasis hold any poker tournaments? I'm talking about ones with live dealers, cards and chips. None of that video poker pro nonsense. Thanks!
There were SEVERAL days of poker tournaments held on my Oasis sailing in December 7th -- of course that particular cruise was the one where all of the winners of the poker tournaments across the fleet had their final championship tournaments. That being said, I believe there were several ones open to the general public as well.

Be prepared - I took a bunch of first time cruisers on the Oasis earlier this month, and now they do not want to sail on any other ship. ;) Have a great great time!
-
the only time I found the ship crowded was when they had the $10 sale in the promenade. Then it was like no one had ever seen $10 pocketbooks before. ;)

Oasis and Allure have different wifi packages than the rest of the fleet (right now). Most in the fleet charge by the minute and have packages that reflect such. Oasis and Allure offer unlimited packages.

Would you expect them to make a shipwide announcement that a drill was going to take place at say 9:00AM. That probably would have woken you up as well. Also most effective drills are unannounced so everyone is caught off guard and they can practice their emergency skills.
Since I'm pretty sure that they do this drill every time they are in Labadee, it's hardly a surprise. A note in the cabin the night before stating that you should expect to not sleep in lest have the you know what scared out of you at 9am by emergency alarms would have been a little bit more welcome than jolting out of bed.
-
That reminds me - when i was on the Oasis in the beginning of the month, my roommate and I decided to sleep in the morning we were in Labadee. We were going to get off the ship, but were in no rush.
Imagine our surprise when we were startled out of bed by the emergency signals. First, panic, and then the realization that we were in port and it was likely a drill.
You'd think they'd warn people when they were going to do a drill like that...

I had the best food I have -EVER- had on a cruise while on the Oasis at the beginning of the month.

I love sailing locally. It's true that you might not be able to fully utilize being outside until the middle of day 2 or so, but keep in mind - the Quantum is being built for cold weather, so you will still be able to lay by the pool, it just will be in an interior space.
For me, the tradeoff of not having to fly is worth having to wait for warm.

The question I have is --- how successful were you?
Not very. I called it the "no pants" cruise. I did find a lovely skirt though.

Buying the next cruise certificates is a no brainer. $100 deposit, and you get it back in OBC on your next cruise? Yes, please.
-
I once went on a cruise (not RCCL - the NCL Sun) where I had forgotten all of my pairs of pants.
Ever try to go shopping for plus sized clothing in Roatan?
-
After you have the Next Cruise certificates, how do you go about transferring them to another person? I am assuming that the other person would be treated the same as me when I call up to assign a cruise to my Next Cruise certificate.
If you have a travel agent, they can take care of it for you. Otherwise, you will need to call reservations and have them change the name over. You will need the sail date as well as information on the person you would like to change over to (full name, date of birth, zip code, cell number).
-
Then it has changed, since I have done this as recently as this past summer.
This was on December 7th.
-
you can buy up to 3 next cruise certificates while on board. They are all fully transferable. I was told that you cannot purchase them for someone who is not on the cruise. So your best bet is buying then in your name, and then transferring them.

I'm so happy these guys won! I saw then on the Explorer back in January and thought they were fantastic back then, and really felt they far and away were better than any of the other groups (not that the other groups were bad by any stretch!).

Maybe Jimmy will just take the ship out, since it is going to be his ship.
