  1. Hahah.... good go know. I did not realize they still did a paper copy... we will stick with that. Less need for my phone that way. And...I packed my highlighter!!
  2. Okay...good to know. I am hoping for some movies and 'tea time' which I saw in several previous weeks activities. Yes...I am lame...lol
  3. We sail in 2 days and have been perusing the app. Most everything seems to be there (menus, shows, classes, etc). However, ** the first night there is not a listing fir ANY type of the show in the theatre, although all the other evenings shows are listed..is it normal to have an evening with no show? (Lol..no-show). ** there does not seem to be any comedian or magician listed, all song based shows. ** there are zero movie listings for the entire week, where I have noticed every other sailing recently has been showing movies in Celebrity Central and on the Lawn. Not a major deal... none of these are musts and will not really affect our cruise at all. Although watching a movie under the stars while in the middle of the ocean is one of my favourite memories on a ship!! I am just curious if anyone else has noticed these things being added on when the sailing actually starts.
  4. The link did not really take me to a user friendly site, at least not on my phone. No mention of at par either.
  5. I have never sailed Princess, but just signed up for their emails in hopes of getting an ' at par' email ! Thanks for the info.
  6. One of my favoirite memories was also an evening at OVC. We were a bit tired and decided not to get dressed up and head with the masses to the MDR. Instead we had on shorts, t-shirts and flip flops and ate a fabulous build your own pasta and a caesar salad. It was quiet, we saw lots of officers, and the food was great. Afterward we strolled out on the deck and the sat in the solarium and just 'chatted amd strolled' the evening away while most people were in the MDR or the theatre. It was very peaceful. It was the last night of the cruise and it just felt so special.
  7. A few years ago I read a lot about NOT swimming at Great Bay because of sewage pollution. Is this still the case? I have tried searching for recent information but most things I find are older. We want to go for a beach walk, and would love to jump in if safe to do so, but do not want to play in the water if it is is filled with bacteria. Thanks to anyone who may have updated info.
  8. Apparently it is a 20 minute walk along a sidewalk from Crown Bay. I think because it is my daughter's first time I may go to Magens, that way she also gets to see a bit of the Island from the taxi as well (as ms suggested). Maybe next time (hoping thee will be a next time!!) I will do Lindbergh.
  9. Hi there, I have been to St Thomas 3 times on a cruise. First time we went to Megans Bay and absoluely loved it. We did DIY, took a taxi and sat our towels in the sand near the lefthand side. Second time we taxied to Sapphire and again, layed oir towels in the sand, did some snorkelling, etc. Third time we ended up just walking around town and the waterfront. This time I will be going with my young adult daughter who will be tjere for her first time. There will be 5 ships in port, (about 14,000 pax), so we are trying to decide what to do. Our ship is there 12:30-8:00 and docks in Crown Bay. We are pretty low key and are not looking for watersports, drinks or busyness. We are more looking for relaxation, beauty, and a beautiful beach. I was going to take her to Megans, but now am considering just walking over to Lindbergh and hanging out there for a few hours. Where would you recommend we go to show her a beautiful, swimmable, low key beach? (Between Megans or Lindbergh). Thanks.
  10. What happens when one of us does not have the app? I will have the app on my phone, but my adult daughter will not have the app.
  11. We do not sail for 2 weeks, but all the videos are now on my app under the safety icon, and they weren't a few days ago. I did watch them all, but no 'green check' or anything, so my guess is I will need to watch them all again on embarkation day.
  12. Curious to see if the following week brings as many cases as the Feb 5th sailing did.
  13. We had the same problem. Our flight does not land until after midnight, then in the morning, off to the port. I could not justify the VERY high rates mid March on a Saturday night...especially when we have to account for exchange to CAD . We deicded to take an airbnb in Dania Beach.
  14. After reading about balcony vs concierge, I decided to stick with balcony. I saved about $150 by doing so. Not sure if it was the right choice, but things I read and vidoes I watched swayed me that concierge perks may not be worth it for our cruising style We probably would not use the concierge, we don't make dining reservations, would not drink the sparking wine, do not need the mid day snacks, etc. The main perk would be the extra points and I did not think that was worth $150 CAD , so we went with the balcony gty instead
  15. Well I called and they gave me $100 USD in OBC!!! Worth the call.
  16. Well my sailing is within 3 weeks...so not sure they will match it at this late date. I booked about 6 days ago...upgraded yesterday.
  17. I guess I should have kept my initial promo of $200 OBC and went for a move up bid. But...I guess I need to be satisfied that I have my balcony now...lol
  18. Well about an hour after I got off the phone the balcony price on the website dropped another $135 CAD total. I should have waited the extra hour before calling!!! Now today I got a Move Up email. However, it is still showing us in an inside cabin. But here are a couple of options it gave me: Inside to Balcony...min bid $200 pp Inside to Family Verandah .. min bid $270 pp So... I wonder what my new/current move up bids may be? Maybe I should call. But...if it is the same customer service line, I really do not want to be on hold for another hour! I just want to talk with the same lady who booked my cruise to begin with... not the 'service' line.
  19. If fhey have the build your pasta station, the build your stir fry station, and some other random foods and salads, that will suffice for me. The build your own stations and a great caesar salad works for me!! I can always go to MDR for a good dessert or to the Cafe Bachio (sp?) I may go to MDR 2 or 3 times for the experience, but really do not want to spend 2 hours on dinner each night. I would rather a quicker meal, then time in the Solarium or out under the stars!!
  20. I think I may go to the main dining room just for the escargot and creme brule and skip the apps and main. Then head to OVC for the remainder of my meal. I need those escargots!!!!
  21. Is it appropriate to bring towels and lay on the grass to watch a movie? We do not want to rent an alcove. Are there other 'quiet' beds that have a bit of shade where we can enjoy the afternoon?
  22. Hi, we have sailed on the Summit 3 times pre covid and one of my favorite spots was the rooftop movie area. We would lay on the covered beds for hours and read, sleep, etc even if there were no movies or games showing. Right down the stairs was the back entrance to the OVC so we would go get fruits and snacks and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. On videos I have seen, I seem to recall that there may be an outdoor screen somewhere on the Reflection... but now I can't find it. If there is one (lawn club area?), is there seating? Or do we bring a towel and sit on the grass? It is quite possible I am mixing up my informatiin from viewing so may deck plans and vidoes from so many different ships... so clarification would be helpful. Any other areas on Reflection that might be similar to my Summit bliss? Thanks!!
  23. Fresh air... sunshine.. sound of the waves... We are excited. I lost my 31 year old son to cancer 8 months ago, so I think the brighter room and fresh air will be good for my soul. He would have said...GO FOR THE BALCONY!!!
  24. Okay...so after my 'short' hold of 58 minutes long...we are now booked in a GTY Balcony cabin. Cost to upgrade from inside gty to balcony gty was $532 CAD. That part I am happy with. I did lose my OBC ($200.00 USD...which came out to $269. CAD). So...all in all.. it is an $801.00 CAD difference for us. ($114 CAD per night(. Not sure if it was as good of deal as I had originally thought (because of the loss of OBC)....BUT...we now have a balcony cabin!!! Now...I hope for midship or aft, quiet, and unobstructed...lol Thanks for your help 🙂
  25. Well after speaking with 3 reps and over 2 hours on hold (throughout 3 phone calls), seems they will honour the balcony upgrade at $80.00 CAD per day total for the 2 of us ($556 for the 7 night sailing). HOWEVER...I lose the $200.00 OBC I currently have. Or: An extra $100.00 CAD per night ($694.00 CAD total for the cabin) for Concierge cabin. Again...we lose the $200.00 OBC. So Concierge would be an extra $20.00 CAD per night. I am on hold with them now to try and get the balcony upgrade. He is 'speaking with accounting' as I write this. Now that the balcony has become a possibility for us, my 22 yr old daughter is REALLY wanting the balcony...and she will pay for part of the upgrade. So although your 'move up bid' is an option, I am quite unfamiliar with it and also want to make sure we get a balcony as opposed to the gamble. Whether we go for balcony or concierge...it is GTY only. That is okay as we are currently in an INS GTY. We just booked this cruise 3 days ago! Will keep you posted when I am done my next hour on hold.
