  1. @LadyZolt thanks for taking us along on your adventure. I've enjoyed all your pictures. We did Ovation in April 2018 and were to have had a stop at Phu My for Saigon. Much to our disappointment....and everyone else on the ship....the Captain told us we could stop due to "port congestion". That was a 1st for us and we've been cruising since 1987. Happy that didn't happen with Serenade.

The door is 22 inches wide. Person will have to be able to walk and stand some to use the bathroom and shower. There is a step into the bathroom. There are some rentals that do fit through the doors. Scooters can not be parked in the hallways. The hall is way too narrow.

Many are parked in the hallways.  At least for this scooter they can park it outside of the door of the Mini-Suite. The walked could/should be folded and brought inside the cabin but.....This was on our recent Discovery Princess cruise.

    Wow in a good way?

Absolutely in a good way. Lots of good, live music, shows and parties in the Piazza area. Example....pre-dinner - music in the Piazza for 45 min, as soon as that stopped there was music in Crooners Bar (one floor up) and after that 45 min set more again in the Piazza. They also had Take 5...a good size Jazz Club plus Crown Bar and the Vista Lounge with live music in all those venues and, in addition, for Vista Lounge some pre-recorded Ballroom dance music every evening.

Just cruised both RCI and Celebrity with a day in between. RCI wins hands down.

We're just back from a 15 nt RT Hawaii cruise on Discovery Princess. We've cruised RCI and Celebrity since 1987 and can only say WOW! about the entertainment offerings on Discovery Princess.

I’m currently sailing on a 12 day to the southeast Caribbean on the Regal.  I decided to splurge for the Premiere package and it is pricey. I thought I read somewhere, in this great community, that on longer cruises a 3rd specialty dining was added to the Premiere package?  Not so here at guest services. Does anyone have insight on this?

    Tks

Currently on 15nt Hawaii with Premier and it's 2 nts Specialty with Premier.

Thanks for posting - timely as DW and about a dozen friends are boarding on Sunday.

How is the wine selection at other venues and availability on the Plus or Premier packages.   Any Caymus,  Rombauer, Ferrari Carano?  Other favorites etc?

Thanks again and enjoy the remainder of your cruise.

Wines on Plus Pkg are shown by Varietal. Premier are listed by name. Haven't seen Rombauer or Ferrari Carano by the glass but, in addition to those in the photo we've enjoyed Seghesio Zinfandel and Flowers Chardonnay with Premier pkg. W/Premier pkg Caymus is $8/glass + gratuity and was available in Crown Grill and Salty Dog pub. Another plus is with Premier your wine is served is a bigger, nicer glass.

Thanks…we’ll be sailing on Discovery soon…how did you learn about it? From your waitstaff?

Would you know if a Winemakers Dinner is available? I’ve enjoyed the $45 Silverado version in the Wine Cellar numerous times but recent reports from Discovery state only the $140 Caymus version was offered in the Crown Grill.

We found out about the Super Tuscan Dinner from the Sommelier but also saw roving crew selling it, the Caymus Winemaker Dinner and a couple of wine tastings. We're told the Super Tuscan Dinner is only offered occasionally and on sailings longer than 10 days whereas the Caymus Dinner is offered on 7 nt + sailings

Are you going on the Discovery? I would advise you make sure that you complete your preregistration and get your medallion shipped in advance so you are in the green lane. That should make your boarding process there much easier.

Discovery Princess boards at Berth 92 at the Port of LA in San Pedro so not through the more spacious main building but at a separate entry building next to the USS Iowa that is basically a glorified quonset hut. It is less than glamorous, and quite cramped. Lines for the blue lane to pick up your medallion can be long - winding through a line maze similar to one found in an amusement park following transit through a tented area with the metal detectors.

We waited in line for an hour for our New Year's cruise - while my daughter and her husband who already had their medallions literally walked right on the boat. Do yourself a huge favor - make sure you get your medallions shipped in advance and that should ensure an easier and more pleasant boarding process.

We were just on the Feb 24 Discovery cruise out of San Pedro. Arrived at 10:15am. Did que up for a bit to enter the area for Security the once through Security we entered the main building. The Quonset hut building is where you pick up your luggage after the cruise. We had our Medallions and went right up to check-in. It was a short wait afterward as the ship had not been cleared and guests were in groups.....Elite Boarded 1st, then Suites, etc. Next time we'll wait and arrive around 11am.

Thanks for the kid's menu. I would think it would be similar across the fleet. Sailing the end of April on the Caribbean with my younger daughter and her family. The youngest granddaughter has an egg allergy so that menu will help. We do plan on talking to the staff about it at our first dinner.

MDR staff are very good with any dietary restrictions. Speak to the Head Waiter the 1st night and he'll make sure your granddaughter gets the food she wants/needs.

Make friends with the bar tender at Vines two double doubles will arrive in no time.  We had the plus package and were more than happy, but we are not picky with wine.  Coffee and Champagne are another matter entirely.

Just off Discovery and if we got a double pour we were charged for 2 drinks. It was OK for us as we never came close to the 15 drinks/day.

Thanks for all the responses. I was only asking about the how/when/where for Champagne and Canapes as they were noted as Amenities and were something we weren't offered or saw anything about. Definitely didn't miss anything by not having them but if it's supposed to be a Perk of a Reserve Mini-Suite it should at least be offered.

We had a nice glass of what we wanted and enjoyed all the great wine offerings on the Premier pkg.

  12. After a few years away from Princess we're just home from the Feb 24 -Mar 2 '24 Mexico cruise. We booked a Reserve Collection Mini-Suite with Premier Package. We really enjoyed the cruise but do have a Questions/Observations about advertised Amenities/Services.

    Questions...

    1. Welcome glass of Bubbly - where is this offered?

    2. Premium Evening Canapes upon request. While this wasn't something we wanted how would one go about ordering these? Nothing in the cabin about it         nor did our Cabin Attendant ask/offer.
    3. Premier Pkg offers "unlimited casual dining meals". Ocean Terrace (DH is allergic to fish/seafood so not an option for us) and Gigi's were the only 2 available as the Salty Dog Gastropub turned into the Crab Shack the 3 Sea Days. Disappointing as we would have like to try this for lunch. Is this typical?

    Observations...

    1. Reserve Collection Dining was outstanding! and definitely a great perk. Food and service was great and being able to go when we wanted was a definite      perk we enjoyed.

    2. Princess Luxury Bed - let me just say that I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight.

    3. Great cabin location

    4. We used the touch screen outside the cabin and indicated "service requested" when we left the room...at about 8:15am each morning. Cabin was not            done until 11-11:30 each day. We did not see the cabin attendant on day 1 and were in the cabin from about 3:30 - 5:00. We finally tracked him down as        we left the cabin on day 2 for pre-dinner drinks.

    5. "Complimentary one-time wine set-up on Embarkation Day". There was a bottle of red wine but no glasses.
    6. Specialty dining was in Crown Grill & Sabatini's. Service and Food was excellent in both restaurants.

    7. Gigi's was a nice venue for embarkation lunch and another time during the cruise when the MDR wasn't open.

    8. Lots of music around the ship. It was especially nice to be able to have a pre-dinner drink @ 5:30 pm with musica. Cola Sounds, Mockingbird, Terry              McPhee and the Mariachi Band were all good.
    9. Loved the wine offerings with Premier Pkg and also that the wine was served in a nice, larger glass.
We return to Discovery in 2 weeks for the 15 night Hawaii Cruise and are looking forward to another great experience!

Well then, go to Crooners and ask bartender Henry to make you a "Bugsy".  You have to like Irish creme . That is what my wife drank most nights. Henry made the best ones.

Thanks fot the suggestion....I'll  give that one a try.
