  1. to crusing on the Oosterdam - almost went on the 21 day out of FLL this year. However, decided on the 15 day Eurodam when "our CABIN" opened up in inventory. The itin being different than usual for HAL sailing.

It will be so incredible to be able to get to the ship in 45 minutes YES once the Oosterdam arrives in our Tampa home Port.

    :p

  2. THANK YOU FOR ATTACHING THE PHOTO'S - THAT IS SO NICE OF YOU! I actually tried to transfer into E409 or E410 this afternoon it's sold out now. However, from what I can tell E407 is something like 4 - 5 ft smaller overall. We will still be HAPPY having the extended angled balcony. At least my DH can sit and face out to sea (he is quite tall) :-)

I so appreciate you taking the time to upload the pictures for me.

  3. Looking at the Regal Princess deck plans - I have found that the bump out area's appear to be fine for views in the middle section of Emerald Deck.

Wondering IF you had a choice would you take Emerald Deck 407, 409, or 410?

I think that 409 or 410 may have a few inches more to their balconies.

From what I understand these cabins do have a loveseat available in the cabin am I correct?

Anyone have pictures of any of these cabin's?

    THANK YOU:confused:

  4. Hi we were onboard for the 6 April 14 sailing and stayed in E410.

The Seaview bar is 7 decks above and you can just about see people walking on the glass floor, they cant see down into the cabins in the same way as the starboard side. The seaview novelty does wear off in seconds so there are so few people on it...

    33ygyt1.jpg

The cabin is rated as Deluxe Obstructed but probably best described as just about obstructed as the lifecraft are way forward and way aft. You are close to the seating area outside facets on deck 7 but the exit to that deck space is rather well hidden so we only saw a few people out there over the course of the whole week.

Only suggestion I can give is avoid the midship area due to the (well publicised) lack of midship stairs or just do what we did and use the front stairs as it's maybe 30 seconds longer walk

We are currently booked in D407 and wondering if by chance E410 or E409 might have a slightly larger balcony. I can still change it this evening.

Those cabins did have a loveseat in them correct?

    THANKS

  5. Here is my. I I review of my room...

The balcony is huge and I love the location. However, many (especially Elites) may find this location noisy. You do not hear the MUTS ,but I occasionally did hear the live bands or DJ. In addition , you can hear a lot of sounds from above you. I think it was from the crew cleaning the deck or moving loungers etc. Typically, you could hear this at night or early morning. That being said , I took it as the price to pay for the location and yes I would book the cabin again and in fact I did book it on the Regal next year.

Sent from my iPad using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app

on your Regal cruise in 2014? We had it held then just released it for a extended cabin E428 on Emerald Deck. Even though it is labeled as an obstructed view. It doesn't appear to be in that area of the Regal.

Now that I've read your post though - I'm wondering IF I made the correct decision on the Lido cabin. How noisy was in early morning? Was the cabin itself terribly small?

  6. Hugger, we're boarding on 11/15 & also doing the full two weeks B2B cruises..

Promised myself that this time will only take 9 outfits to wear in the evening, but our Friends don't believe I can do it.. This way I can sneak the shoes to go with the outfits past my DH & my Friends DH.. Wish me luck..LOL:D

We will be boarding on your 2nd week. So your outfits will be all NEW and BEAUTIFUL :)

We are staying on for the 8 night cruise the following week. Hope the ship is in good form being it's going into dry doc right afterwards

  7. We've been on several Thanksgiving cruises, as a matter of fact will be on the Eurodam this year..:)

They always have turkey on the menu, but it's not considered a holiday menu.. I always ask for dark meat & have sometimes been successful in getting it.. Other times not, as it's really not considered a holiday on Holland America.. Not sure what I'll get on Eurodam..

Betty I just saw that you will also be on the Thanksgiving week cruise as will we. We are doing the 15 night back to back starting 11-22. I can't wait to see your shoe parade ;)

  8. cruiser's by mistake a couple of cruises back. When I went in alone for lunch my DH was in the casino - they asked if I was dining SOLO and I said yes. After a few minutes at the table I figured out what had happened - I laughed and tried to excuse myself. Everyone was so friendly and asked that I stay - which I did. And, had a very ENJOYABLE lunch.

From what the SOLO cruiser's were saying at lunch that day it appeared to me that there had been a few SOLO gathering's. And, several were repeat cruiser's.

I doubt IF they weren't comfortable on HAL they would have continued to go again.

Another, thought I had was I have read that NCL is now offering SOLO cabins on their newer ships - might want to compare their offerings as well.

  9. Ok, folks, here is the "inane question" of the day! When you print out the renewal application it has two pages (info and signature), and then another four pages (with instruction stuff). You only mail the two pages, correct?

only mail the two pages you fill out.

Along with ONE picture - you used to have to mail two pictures in - which made me do a good deal of research to make sure that it's only the ONE now.

Be sure to sign the 1st page of the form you send in

We ended up using the priority mail and requested tracking. Mailed the in two separate envelopes.

  10. and desserts from the Explorer Cafe are so yummy - help to tide us over till late dinner.

We normally eat our breakfast on the balcony. Then skip lunch - so we need a bit of something to tide us over till we have our late dinner.

Many afternoons I either head up to the cafe or to the lido - to grab some snacks to go with our happy hour drink on the balcony.

BTW I take these little food grade shower cap looking cover's I buy at the Dollar store to keep the snacks fresh on the way back to our cabin.

  11. We just got off the Eurodam. The showtimes for the Mainstage shows are at 8pm and 10pm nightly.

Hope they keep the shows scheduled like that year round now. That is what they do on Princess and it's much easier to have a later dinner and still make the show.

THANKS for sharing that good news:p

  12. When we sailed on the Edam last Nov. (going again this Nov. too) the show times varied depending on the itin. for the day. There were a couple of evenings out of 14 nights that there was only one main show. The rest of the evening's there were two. However, times do differ some days too.

We found it difficult some evenings as we like to dine around 7:45 to 8. Lot's of times we didn't make the beginning of the main show if we went after dinner. As they seem to start a lot of them around 9-9:30.

  13. experiences with renewing your passport with me.

For some reason I have a gut feeling that I should mail them separately. I was all set to mail them together - but I have this little feeling that I should mail them in their own envelope and with their own individual payment.

Only because IF there were a problem with one of them we would only have to deal with tracking one of them down or having it lost.

THANK YOU all for all of your help - I SO APPRECIATE all of you!

  14. After reading the above posts regarding how many pair's of shoes we have in our closets as well as in our luggage. It brought back memories of my friends always laughing - saying I could literally smell leather anywhere in the world. And, find a place to buy more shoes!:p

  15. Funny ... I went to check on cabin assignment, got that message, and then wanted to check here in case others saw the same ... Cruise Critic wouldn't load for me either! Now CC is back (PHEW!), and thank you, fellow posters, for alleviating my fears! We leave in a week - EEK if my reservation disappeared!

I thought I'd been blocked somehow

Happy to see I can access CC again today.

I also had trouble getting HAL to load anything last night.

Guess I better go check to see our status now too

  16. Thought I'd get some input on what other's have done recently when renewing their passport's.

I have them ready to go and am trying to decide IF I should mail both of them together or Separately?

And, what type of trackable mail service to use? I see that there is a a Priorty Mail flat rate Legal size envelope that comes with free tracking when Requested.

Wondering if it's wise to use and IF I should also request a signature on delivery or IF being it's PO Box where it's sent IF that might DELAY them?

Any recent experiences would be appreciated.

    THANKS

  17. Thanks for that info.. Just downloaded the renewal form & will get our pictures this week..

    Betty

I was wondering being you also live here in FL if you went in person or mailed in your renewal for passport's?

And, how long it took you - we are sailing a week after you on the Eurodam. I have had our passports sitting on my desk since we sailed her last November. Finally, getting it done

Had our photo's done at CVS on Friday. Now to get the renewal taken care of too.

  18. One fun tip that hasn't been mentioned in a while is to check inside the Bible in the bedside drawer. CC members often will leave a few foreign coins or a card with a small balance still on it.

But when I went to do it the Bible hasn't been there our last few cruises :-( And, the cards now seem to be tied to our particular cruise dates.

I thought that was such a great way to welcome the new passenger from CC on their cruise. Guess we need to come up with another place to put things.
