  1. We have future reward credit of $250.00 plus $100.00 OBC. I booked about 3 weeks ago and nothing is showing up on my billing. Does it reflect it? I only have $25.00 OBC showing up? Do I need to call NCL to have it applied or is it automatically applied.

Need just a little more information....

Did you book directly with Norwegian? If so when you log into your myncl.com click on view reservation/vacation summary/payment page...

You should see the total and amount due. The difference in those 2 numbers should be the $250 from the Future cruise reward, if it were applied. If it wasn't applied it seems as if your reservation would have been cancelled within 24 hours with out a deposit applied.

Below that in the green box, is that where you are seeing the $25 OBC? Where did you get the $100 OBC figure from?....with the future cruise reward you would have received $100 on the sailing in which you purchased the Future Cruise Reward, that isn't what you were looking for in the new reservation is it?

Example as shown on the payment page.... Total: $2,087.34 Amount Due: $1,837.34

  2. Where did you see that deposits were half off? I just looked at the NCL website and it makes no mention of this.

    http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPagesPopup.html?pageId=dashterms

It's in the terms and conditions at the bottom or the promotion page....

    Offer:

Kids sail free on select sailings

    Free Balcony Upgrades

    Reduced deposit

E-coupons booklet work over $300 delivered with e-documents

    Applicable destinations: Select sailings

    Booking Window: 7/1/14 - 8/2/14 11.59 PM EST

although, I didn't have time to check a mock booking this morning to make sure it's still offering the reduced deposits.

  3. Current promotion (until 8/2 at 11:59PM EST) offers 50% off deposits. Normal deposit for a 7 day cruise in a mini-suite or lower category of cabin would be $250 per person, so with the 50% off promotion it's $125. The full suites have a much larger deposit, and aren't part of the 50% off deposit promotion.

If you book 1 person in the cabin, you only pay 1 deposit...but will be charged the single supplement. (extra cruise fare). When you try to add on another guest if the ship has reached life boat capacity, where too many guests in that section of the ship have booked more than 2+ guests per cabin then they could deny you adding an addition guest in the cabin even though there are extra beds in the cabin. Typically this only happens during school vacation periods or holiday sailings.

US deposit is totally refundable right up until final payment time. If you use a travel agent, some of them may possibly charge a cancellation charge or a fee to change/add a guest on to the reservation....so ask before booking with them to make sure.

  4. This is what is says on their website

    How To Claim Your Guarantee

Just complete the "Best Price. Guaranteed." claim form and submit it online within 48 hours of making your booking. If it meets the Guarantee criteria and you choose to receive an Onboard Credit, we will automatically attach that credit to your account. Once you are on board the ship, you can use the credit however you please. "

why does it say 48 hours ??

That's really more for someone booking a cruise after final payment date.

  5. Thanks that is good news !! Does it say that on their website? I couldn't find it.

Up until final payment time you can cancel for any reason without a penalty right up until final payment time....so you could always cancel and re-book if you see a lower price, so Norwegian has no issues doing the price adjustment right up until final payment time. :)

Keep in mind you may lose out on any current promotions you may have on your reservation....if you have On board Credit, or kids sail free always have them check to see what you will lose in order to get the lower pricing.

  6. Me and my wife are booked on the 9 day cruise from NY in October.

We currently have a midship to aft Balcony room on the 10th floor. Thinking about upgrading to a mini suite, but it would be a front room on the 11th floor.

Can anyone tell me what the differences in the rooms are other than the square feet? Is the balcony bigger? Bathroom bigger? Where is the extra feet?

And if my wife is a little prone to sea sickness, is the mid to aft room a better choice?

    Thanks

You'll have about 80 square foot more room in the cabin, a tub/shower combination instead of just a shower, and a curtain to separate the bed from the sleeper sofa in the mini suite.

The mid ship location is best for feeling the least amount of movement, and a lower deck is better for feeling less of the rolling type movement. The front of the ship generally feels the most motion, followed by the back....and mid-ship feeling the least motion.

Deck 11 has the pool deck/buffet area above and there can be some noise from the pool deck in the morning as they set up the pool lounge chairs...a bit of a bang and scraping noise.

for the largest balconies on the GEM look at the category B1 aft balconies, these are located right across the back of the ship. The ones on deck 10 being the largest, followed by deck 9....deck 8 would still be larger than the balconies on the side of the ship...but may have some noise issues from the Bliss lounge/bowling alley located on deck 7 below those cabins. I know at one time there were reports of a base sound from the speakers in the lounge.

  7. All master beds in suites on all NCL ships are ONE bed, and can not be separated. The rep that told you otherwise, was wrong....

We had the 2 bdr suite on the Gem a few years ago, and it was a very beautiful suite. We were in the Haven, but I have been told that the 2 brd suite on the Gem that is not a Haven suite, have the exact same layout.

Below I will enclose a photo from the bedroom as seen from the bathroom.

There are suites on some ships with master beds that split, but not in the 2 bedroom suites.

On the DAWN I know the master bed in the SJ/SD suites separate...and I believe the STAR has the same setup in their SJ suites and the SG Penthouse on the STAR has a convertible master bed.

This is the description from the website of the DAWN...SJ suite...

Bring the whole gang because this suite sleeps up to six guests. It features a balcony, queen-size bed that converts to two lower beds, a sofa bed and additional bedding to sleep two more. Everyone can hang out in the living and dining area and there is a luxury bath with shower. Includes butler and concierge service. Note: Accommodations shown are artists renderings and are representational only.

  8. Thank you everyone for the quick responses.

Just double checking on the bed. I have spoken to NCL twice; one rep said the bed can be split into 2 singles, the other said no. Has anyone had one of those suites where it was possible to split the bed?

We were in #11018 on the GEM in January and the bed in the Master bedroom couldn't be separated. I noticed that the website lists that bed as a queen size, it really did feel like a king size to me?

I've also stayed in the 2 bedroom family suite on the DAWN and that one wasn't able to be split either.

  9. We are going on the Jewel in Dec. Any idea if they have one of those machines on there?

Does anyone know if you can access the NCL website from their computers onboard without paying? When we were on Carnival you could get on their website for free and they had message boards where you could talk to people back home. I used it a lot to check in with my mom.

You can access the Norwegian website for free from the ship, but no message boards on there to put messages on.

  10. There is? Where? Closer to O'Sheehan's, or closer to the casino? Port or Starboard?

I've spent 21 days on that ship, and had no idea such a machine existed.

    .

17 days on the Breakaway and never noticed a machine there, and have never heard any mention of a machine on the Getaway before.

It does sound like an awesome idea. :) Wondering how long the lines were for this machine?

  11. Hi

Was wondering if anyone knows if there will be nickelodeon on the gem sailing next October 3 2015

I was assuming that because the sailing was so late that the numbers of children would be limited

Every sailing on the GEM offers the Nickelodeon characters and activities. :)

  12. Honestly I don't too much care for the meetings..Just booked the studio because is was the most reasonable price. Lol. How can I tell what categories are higher than BX? I just like to look and kill time...or days to say the least. LOL!!!! Thanks for your reply by the way!

    http://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/getaway/staterooms/2/balcony#tab_detail

The BX is the lowest level of balcony category, there are 9 levels of balcony cabins above that which you could be assigned.....or there's a small possibility you could be moved to a higher category like a spa or mini-suite category......or even a Haven suite....but only a small chance for those.

  13. When I booked Getaway for October 2014 I originally booked a Studio...As of today my TA has changed me to a Balcony Guarantee...When I look it says that it's a Balcony Guarantee on deck 8-Forward in BX. Looking at the deck plan on deck 8 there's only 4 of those cabin categories. I understand that I will not get assigned a cabin number until after final payment, but just wondering if I should expect to get assigned one of the four available? I just don't see with only having FOUR that one will be available. So I am preparing myself for anything, but hoping for a good cabin. Which going from a studio to a balcony what could possibly be bad. Lol! Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced!

With a guarantee category you can be assigned any cabin in that category or higher. You'll definitely enjoy any of the balcony cabins, and can still meet others in the studio lounge during their regular meeting time in the early evening. :)

  14. When I do that, there is no real price difference price difference (it was $70 more for three people). That's why I'm so confused and wondering if I am not going far enough for the promotion to be reflected.

The shark is right, that first price is an average price per person, and is quite confusing with this current promotion.

Enter the 3 guests and then select a cabin, you'll see a total price (including taxes) on the right side of the screen. Click below the total price there in the "details" section....that's where you should see the actual price breakdown per person. That should show a 0 fare for the 3rd guest at that point.

There are some of the kids sail free cruises that have reached capacity, and are no longer offering the free 3rd - 8th guest fare as free. The website only updates the outer price grid, with the icons, once a day....so it's possible your cruise reached capacity this afternoon and isn't offering the kids sail free pricing.

  15. Did anyone notice on the NCL website 2 new choices when booking the breakaway. I was doing a mock booking (checking prices) and did like I usually do and pick date then pick ship. It used to come up with one choice now comes up with 3 choices. 1 includes hotel the other includes hotel and air. I'm attaching photo.

    http://www.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/cruise-and-hotel-packages

Looks like the vacation packages/bundles are now on the website to book for the Jewel, Breakaway, Getaway....and the Pride of America.

  16. Anybody else having issues being able to view their reservations, make a payment etc. once they log in to NCL? I booked the POA for May and haven't been able to see my reservation or make a payment. I tried calling NCL last week and was told they were having a problem and it should be fixed soon. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I haven't heard of any issues, and I've been able to log in many times in the last week to view my reservations.

  18. Hi everyone! I am new to NCL and looking at booking 2 cruises in 2015 on NCL.

I have been watching both cruises for quite awhile, but haven't ever really noticed promos. I have just noticed the Hawaii offer on their website.

Does NCL offer promos from time to time? If so, is there a better time to book with NCL?

We are booking regardless, but a penny saved is a penny earned!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Promotions run frequently. Personally I book directly with Norwegian as early as I can and continute watching prices and promotions. If I see something lower or better on the Norwegian website before final payment, it's a simple call to them to get the pricing adjusted or promotion added. FYI, you may lose any current promotion you have when you move to another promotion. I haven't used a travel agent in quite a few years, but I'm sure they would work with you on a new promotion before final payment as well....but beware there are a couple at least that charge a fee to make changes to a reservation.

After final payment I have been able to call into Norwegian, when booking directly with them, and move to a higher category of cabin if those have come down to a price I'm willing to pay...and just pay the difference between what I originally booked and the new lower price on the higher category.

  19. I am looking to cruise alone on the Getaway in August. I have a free CAS certificate for 2 but will like to by myself. Just wondering, why if I put in 1 person in an inside cabin the website price is much more than twice what the inside price would be for 2 people. I will call tomorrow. Don't know if I can use this on a studio and pay difference.

Cabin prices, other than the studios, are based on double occupancy. If you enter 1 guest you will be charged a single supplement charge (typically double the cruise fare) on all but the studio cabins.

Since your CAS certificate is for 2 guests, you should be able to get 2 free cruise fares or the one cruise fare and the single supplement. I think you will find CAS has no issue with you booking alone in the inside cabin.

Be aware that CAS calculates the taxes a bit differently than the Norwegian website, so expect those to be a bit higher through CAS.

*Definitely doesn't hurt to ask them about the studio cabin as an option, then you'll have access to the studio lounge to meet up with other solo guests and sign up for group activities/dinners.

  20. If the credits perhaps came from a cancelled cruise after final payment, I have had these transferred to me in the past from a friend and I was able to use them as payment on the cruise....so in that instance you would be able to have those transferred and use it for payment towards an upgrade.

I guess we have to wait until we have a bit more information on what type or where these on board credits originated from.
