For Princess and Celebrity, the downtown shuttle stop is near Shushi Yakukosokusenryokaku Terminal.

Thank you. It looks like a shorter walk to the nearest tram station.

We're also doing Patrick's tour, now called Adventure Falklands I think since Jimmy retired. I tried to book Solo Expeditions to Magdalena Island, but because we don't dock until noon, they couldn't take us (nor other tours I had contacted.) So we're also on the ship's tour.

If you don't mind, could you let me know afterwards how both your tours went. Hope you make it this time!

    Loretta

    Thanks Loretta. Will do.

Incredible information....thank you very much, again!  I've now learned to double check with Oceania to make sure our tours aren't mistakenly canceled!  In Port Stanley, we're hoping to get to Volunteer Point in a 4x4, but once again, only if the ship doesn't cancel the Port. As you did, we booked O's tour to Magdelena Island, so hopefully we will be able to see penguins at one of the Ports! I'll study the other Ports too with your suggestions.

    Much appreciated!

    Loretta

We will be on the South American cruise right before yours, beginning in Miami and ending in Rio. We've done similar itineraries with Oceania a couple of times and have missed the Falklands both times due to high winds. We are hoping to do this again and will book Patricks tours once again. He does not take money up front, knowing that the chance of making the port is unpredictable. This time we will book the Oceania tour to Magdalena Island since both times we booked with Solo Expeditions and they cancelled on us. We took a private tour in Puerto Madryn to Punta Tambo and saw thousands of penguins up close.

How about a heating pad with an automatic shutoff? I called before a recent cruise because it was really not clear on the website as I have cranky back at times. When I called they just said no, not allowed. Luckily I did not have a need for it but just curios if others have taken one or had issues trying to take one onboard.

I brought a heating pad onboard with no problem. I didn't ask and they didn't refuse.

Thank you I appreciate it.  We will probably do the "Bangkok on your own" tour.

You’re welcome. We’ll do one of the tours in the area - Pattaya or An Sila since we’re spending 3 days in Bangkok post cruise.

My ship is the Oceania Riviera.  Believe it or not, Oceania is not offering any excursions from the ship.

We are also on this cruise. Tours for Laem Chabang were posted when I checked the Oceania website yesterday. The website seems to be down today.

    Dear Buckwheel:

Thank you for the "shuttle" update.  We will be on the Bangkok to Tokyo cruise in June 2023 and have a question regarding your Kyoto update.  For our overnight Kyoto stop we are porting in Kobe.  Did you port in Kobe or in Osaka during your cruise?

    Joel Barry

We have been on a couple of Oceania cruises with stops in Kyoto (Kobe). It has always been at the port of Kobe. Oceania offers a shuttle bus to Motomachi in Kobe.

  8. Thank you both for your replies. The cruise I was looking at is an all day cruise sailing to the less visited Lan Hau Bay, so I think I will take the chance to book it. If I find out after we board and speak to the Oceania staff that the timing is too close, I can cancel up to a week prior.

  9. We will be on the LA to Sydney cruise on October 4,2023. We are schedule to arrive in Halong Bay at 7am on 11/24, which is our first stop in Vietnam. Has anyone experienced a stop at this port who can tell me how long it takes for Vietnamese customs and immigration to clear the ship for disembarkation? Even though our itinerary indicates it is a tender port, the new Halong Bay International cruise terminal has opened and we may possibly dock. I would like to schedule a day cruise which departs from Tau Chau Marina at 10am, a 25 min.Taxi ride. Would I be able to make it or should I book a ship leaving later in the morning?

If you happen to have gone to Vilagarcia (port for Santiago de Compostela) or Portimao, and have any info on shuttles, I'd love to hear about them!  And Gijon and Santander in Spain.

Unfortunately we used a different port for Santiago de Compostela and the ship missed Portimao because of rough seas. There was a shuttle to town in Gijon, but we took a tour so don't now where the drop off was.

Hi, our cruise starts in Istanbul and ends in Athens. If you were to pick one of the cities , which one would you choose to spend extra time in ?

Istanbul would be our choice. We spent 6 days in Istanbul before our cruise. Took the bus everywhere. Food is good, people are friendly and helpful. There is a Marriott Hotel very close to Galaport. Athens is farther from the Piraeus port, so that was our initial thought. But we found that we enjoyed our time in Istanbul much better.

PORTO: Can anyone advise where the drop off point is for the Oceania shuttle in Porto?  Our tour guide is meeting us in town and I have no idea where to tell her to go and cant get any help from Oceania on this.  If you also know how long the shuttle ride is from the ship to the drop off point that would be very helpful as well. Thanks!

The Oceania shuttle drops off at a park near the Clericos Church right near the city center. Easy walk to the river, Sao Bento train station.

  13. We are usually in a C2 cabin and have never heard noise from the lounge upstairs, whether it is the show, rehearsals or trivia. The difference between C1 and C2 is location and the fact that most C2s are connected cabins. Noise that may result depends on how much noise the adjacent neighbors make. However when we were in a C2 this time it was very quiet abd after moving to a C1 for the next segment, we heard our new C2 neighbor’s TV all day. Good thing they went to bed early.

  14. Sirena is very much like the Insignia, except that it has Red Ginger and a combination Polo/Toscana. All the small (R category) Oceania ships have a different itinerary and are based in different parts of the world. Something to please everyone. We have sailed all of the Oceania ships and love them all.

Hello lovetravel63-65,Southampton, I am booked on a cruise next July.  Since you live near Southampton, I was wondering if you would provide information that will help me make a few decisions.  We will arrive at Heathrow on July 7 around 4 pm for a July 8th cruise out of Southampton. Do you think it best to stay overnight in a hotel near Heathrow or go directly to Southampton and stay overnight there?  Are you aware of any transfer companies that will take me from Heathrow to Southampton?  Thank you in advance for any information you may provide.

We took the National Express Bus from Heathrow to Southampton, then an Uber to our hotel. It was fast and inexpensive. We've paid over $150 for a shared car from Southamptom to Heathrow that took much more time and was caught in traffic. Never again.

  16. I would surely get tested before leaving for Barcelona. Fully vaccinated people can catch Covid and not show any symptoms. I would hate being quarantined in Barcelona if I were to test positive with Oceania's pre-boarding test. You're basically stuck in BCN, having to pay for your own quarantine and return flight home.  In such a case, Oceania would not refund the missed cruise.
