  1. Wondering if anyone who has been on the Crown this past summer can tell me if the Wine Package was offered.  We are headed there next week for the transatlantic.  My understanding is that if offered they only have the Gold Tier?  Does anyone know the level of price per bottle and the current costs and number of bottles included?  Thank you in advance for your help!

  2. Not in the atrium but my husband and I enjoyed going to the bar at the Bayou Cafe for a glass of wine before dinner.  Doesn't have the wine list like Vines but a nice spot for a glass of wine.  They sometimes have a musician playing/singing for the bar and restaurant guests.  Never too loud, just some nice predinner or dinner time music.  Never crowded.

    No problem

Speak in confidence with your Restaurant MD, and they will ensure you have a nice table for two, at your time, on the day or days required.

On embarking, if your dining arrangement is not to your liking, go to your Restaurant and speak with the MD for another table.  FYI second sittings are not popular, so you may be lucky in first instance.

Thank you!  Will see the Maitr'D.  I appreciate your help.

  4. Looking forward to our first Cunard cruise in September from New York to Southampton.  My husband has some slight communication issues so we have requested a table for 2, Second Seating for dinner but was wondering if there are tables for 2 for afternoon tea?  Thank you in advance for your help!

  5. We were on the same cruise and received our Patters every evening. Unfortunately it sounds like the problem was with your room steward.  I would have called or visited Passenger Services to fix the problem.  We went to the late shows in Princess Theater and never had a problem finding seats even though we went in about 10-15 minutes before the start of the show.  Had a great cruise!  Great crew all over the ship!

Having saved thousands of dollars through my HAL PCC, I was eager to use the services of a PVP, although I booked on line for myself (because I had no Princess emails assigning one to me). So I booked and got the email with contact to a PVP whom I promptly emailed...

only to get a "bounce" email detailing that they'd been on leave for two months before they were assigned to me, still were on leave, and no date given for end of leave, and oh by the way, no one was going to be reading their email while on this indefinite leave.

Seems a suspect way to do business! With HAL, if my PCC takes so much as a day off, I am routed to the same other PCC, whom I know by name. And when I contacted her on the Friday before a Sunday Xmas -- when the lines were unexpectedly dead! -- her manager could see that I had both called (left message) and e-mailed her with a cancellation (Hence the thousands of dollars).

The absent PVP did finish with a phone number to call if service was needed while on leave; I haven't done that yet as I was so dismayed at the casual disregard of Princess to ASSIGN me to someone on a planned and extended leave! That I'm not sure their representative(s) would have my best interest in mind. If @lljostwere to write me at my CC ID at that yodel sound dot com, I would be happy to ask for your PVP by name!

Yon should start by calling the number you were given. If it goes to their voice mail, press zero to be transferred to someone. Explain your situation and ask to be reassigned to a new PVP. Any problems, ask to speak with a supervisor. I don't mind referring you to my PVP but she can't take you if you are already assigned to someone (no stealing customers from other PVP's). But you can ask to be reassigned. I have been booking with PVP's for 10 years and have been happy with my service.

  7. Our current PVP has "found" some additional OBC on several of our upcoming cruises and lower prices on certain cruises than what was showing on Princess website.  My husband gets an additional discount on some cruises with the Casino Rates.  She always looks first if this is available.  We have been surprised on some of the discounts she has found for us.  We have only had her for less than six months but are very happy with her service.  On our last cruise, she even surprised me with chocolate covered strawberries for my birthday.  Never had a PVP do that before.  We hope to continue booking cruises through her for a long time.

  8. Can you point me in the direction where you saw this?

You were lucky, being Elite has nothing to do with it.

    Never happened for us.

Earlier this summer, we booked a cruise to Hawaii under one of the nonrefundable sales. Our Princess cruise planner told us it could be refunded or transferred to another booking. We were doubtful, but a few months later, found a better price on a different cruise. We called her, she canceled our original booking, moved our FCD to the new booking. Nothing lost.

  9. You can ask for a planner and have one contact you at the princess website under contact us or call

    1-800-901-1172

This number is correct. We have been using Princess cruise planners for over 10 years now. I believe they are trained and they have more knowledge than the customer service reps at the regular 800 Princess number. You can call with any question. We have had all kinds of questions answered and problems solved. Ours have found better prices than those shown on the website and on a few of our cruises, (two we have just booked), we received extra OBC not shown in the same offers. We know we could shop around and book elsewhere, but using a planner makes the whole process easy. The only downside (but never a problem for us) is they work M-F hours.

  10. Just off the 4 day LA to Vancouver, second time on this ship. Love the size of the Coral. Don't miss the show production: On The Bayou in the Universe Lounge. Very good! Also enjoy pizza for lunch in Sabatini's on sea days. Crooners Bar is always lively but if you want a quiet drink before dinner, go to the Bayou Cafe Bar, sometimes they have nice jazz or blues music there. If you want to avoid the lines for coffee in the International Cafe, go down to Deck 5 to the La Patisserie Bar. Good crew, good service.

  11. Is it possible to get steaks without seasoning in the Bayou Cafe?

Yes, you can order the filet or other steak offerings without the Cajun or spicy seasoning. And I agree about the nice music they often have playing during the evening. In fact we often go have a glass of wine before eating dinner elsewhere instead of Crooners or Wheelhouse if they have music playing. Enjoy the Bayou Cafe!

  12. Just herd that St Croix will replace St Thomas on our upcoming Regal Cruise. Does any one know if all the Virgin islands including St Croix , have the same more liberal customs laws as St Thomas, allowing for duty free liquor brought back home. I believe it's 4 bottles (an extra one if it's a USVI rum totaling 5 per person) vs 1 per person everywhere else!

Yes, St. Croix has the same liquor allowance as St. Thomas. Four bottles plus one USVI bottle of rum per person. And prices are generally about the same. But post hurricane, not sure who is open and stocked. Your best bets from the west end (where the ship docks) are probably the grocery stores: Plaza West, Pueblo or Kmart.

  13. In April 2015 my DH and I were on the Pacific Princess cruising the Panama Canal, Ft. Lauderdale to LA. Technically this was the last leg of the World Cruise that year. The second formal night (and yes we were dressed formal) was the Captain's Circle Cocktail Party. Upon entering the event and ordering a drink the Maitre d' Oscar stopped by and said "I have a nice surprise for you." The surprise was we were invited to join the Captain for dinner. We, along with two other couples were led into the Dining Room and were seated with the Captain. It was a wonderful meal start to finish. We were offered wines with each course and specialty coffee with dessert. While talking with the other table guests during dinner, it sounded as though the Captain had done this several times during the World Cruise. It truly was a nice surprise! The Captain was Tim Stringer. I don't know why we were chosen but we very much appreciated and enjoyed it. I can tell you we were not in a suite so that had nothing to do with it.
