  1. Not sure whether to post this here or under the ports of call section but here goes. My DH and I are on the Regal Princess back2back Oct 22 and Oct 27. We are flying in late on Oct 21 and staying at a hotel near LGA so no time to sightsee then but will have time on Oct 27 to try to see some sights around town. Our wish list includes the 9/11 Memorial, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. What is the easiest way to do at least one or two of these? Is a cab to the 9/11 Memorial doable? Or would it be better to try to get over to Battery Park and do a cruise tour to the Statue and Ellis Island? I would appreciate any and all help! Thank you!

  2. Like CruiserBruce said, you won't have any trouble finding a good lunch! When we want to sit and relax, we usually end up at Lowell's in the heart of the market - we like the window seats overlooking Puget Sound. If we've wandered down to the waterfront, it's usually Ivar's or Elliot's Oyster House - both just past the Great Wheel.

Google has a nice 360* view of Lowell's here, though I've NEVER seen the market that empty. ;)

    Elliot's is here.

Thank you for the suggestions. Those look like some good choices, especially Lowell's. Looking forward to wandering through the market and hopefully enjoying a nice lunch in Seattle.

  3. Thanks! Sounds like cabs will be no problem getting there and back. Luggage is not an issue as this cruise begins in Vancouver and Seattle is just a port of call. Any suggestions for lunch in or around the Pike Place Market area? I see on tripadvisor there are many choices. Hoping for fresh fish/seafood...

  4. We will be in Seattle on September 19 off the Crown Princess on a Coastal Cruise to LA. My DH and I would like to visit Pike Place Market and have lunch (preferably fresh fish) somewhere in the market area. How is the best way to get from the pier to the market? Any idea what a cab would cost? And will there be cabs available at the market when we are ready to return to the ship? Neither of us likes to drive in the city so we do not want to rent a car. Thank you for any and all suggestions!

  5. I have had this happen a few times to me. I found out that it only happened when I was trying to pick my seats on the flights I selected. When I finally just booked the flights without picking seats, it would go through with no problem. I would then go back (sometimes a day or two later) and pick my seats and enter my frequent flier numbers. You might try that.

  6. We've never had a problem ordering a second drink quickly. Often in the dining room for lunch or dinner, we will order a glass of wine each and then go ahead and order a second glass right after they deliver the first as it sometimes takes a while for them to deliver the second glass. This way, it has already been delivered by the time we are finishing the first glass. Works perfect.

  7. The corbels you order for mamosas, do you get a little bottle and open it later or is it a glass?

It is the small bottle of Korbels and you can ask to not have it opened at the bar. There are always bottle openers in the cabin although we usually bring our own. They must assume those bottles are single serve, even though we both buy the package, we each order a bottle to take to our cabin. Never a problem.

  8. Yes, mimosas and Bellini's are included if ordered from any bar or in the dining room, international cafe or the horizon court. We order them often. If you want one in your cabin for breakfast, we always pick up korbel or two from any bar on our way to bed and order oj on our breakfast room service card the night before. A perfect start to the day.

  9. My first cruise won't be until 2018 (15 day RT Vancouver to Hawaii), and I was really looking forward to formal nights. I even bought a tux (ex-rental, couldn't pass up the deal). Will I be out of place wearing it, complete with a black bow tie? I was planning on getting it tailored closer to the cruise, but I'll save that cost if most men are dressing down, as is the vibe I'm getting from this thread.

Please plan on wearing your tux. My DH and I always dress up for formal nights (tuxedo for him). It is something we enjoy on our cruises. Do we dress like this at home? Of course not but once or twice on a cruise is fun for us. I don't care where we are cruising to, Alaska, Hawaii, Caribbean, Europe, we always bring formal wear. Have fun looking forward to your cruise!

  10. Hi, there on the dock is the Skagway Fish restaurant, its very good, has a view of the harbor. Hope this helps.

Thanks! From the reviews from tripadvisor, this sounds like a good place to try.

  11. We are on the Royal , 11 June from Athens to Barcelona. We also selected anytime dining for the first time. We tend to dress up most nights, but I was hoping to hear, everyone dresses down because they are tired and need to get up early the next day for all day excursions.

You can always skip dining in the main dining rooms on formal nights. Eat at one of the alternative restaurants or the buffet. Will save you room in your luggage by not taking your formal clothes. Having said that, we choose to dress on formal nights, no matter where we are cruising.

  12. My DH and I went on our first Alaska cruise on Princess in 1985 for our honeymoon. We loved it! Our second Alaska cruise was in 1995 for our 10th Anniversary with my parents and they loved every minute of it. We are headed back for our third Alaska cruise in May. Can't wait. Alaska is definitely worth doing at least once and I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering it.

  13. Love the Pacific Princess. My DH and I did the Panama Canal last April on her. You will be completely spoiled by the crew. Service and food was excellent. Yes, it is a quieter ship, no late night entertainment but the shows we saw were very good. You definitely get to know your fellow passengers but you can still find quiet places to spend alone should you choose.

    Enjoy your cruise!!

  14. Neither my husband nor I like those banquette seats. They are not comfortable for either of us. They make you sit too low to the table and as stated before, you can't scoot close enough to the table. We always politely ask if we can have a different table with dining room chairs. We enjoy eating in the main dining rooms (breakfast, lunch when open, and dinner). You might as well be relaxed and comfortable to enjoy your meal.

  15. Lucky you! I faxed both my sister's and my shareholder requests (we're in separate cabins) in the same fax. They received and applied my sister's but not mine. Physical impossibility. I made a copy and mailed it and it was finally applied weeks later. You used to be able to email the request. Wish Princess would get out of the 1990's for this and allow you to upload or email a pdf file.

I never have this problem. I simply attach it to an email to my Princess Personal Cruise Planner and she sends it straight over. My shareholders request is often processed within the hour or at least by the end of the day. One of the advantages of using the Princess Cruise Planners.

  16. My DH and I will be on the Crown to Alaska May 6 and we will be bringing our formal clothes. Tux for him and two dresses for me. I don't care where we are cruising to we still bring formal clothes. If we eat in the Dining Room we dress appropriately. Otherwise we eat elsewhere. If people will read Princess recommendations, it is only in the Dining Room they request you dress up, otherwise, wear anything you like.
