Nothing except that a Jamaican port refused to let a cruise ship dock, worried about Covid-19, and now I think the line is punishing them under the guise of 'not wanting to chance another refusal.'   Ship was the MSC Meraviglia originally.

Wow. That is so not right.  Hope there are other ships that will still be willing to go to Jamaica one day.

😂 Lol. Not promoting then just letting people know that there is another place to get discounted cards. If it isn't for you then disregard the information.

One day you'll misplace your physical card and you will freak out and, frankly, I won't care.

Thanks for this reminder. But just to be sure the egiftcard you would get is just like physical gc's.  In that they don't expire.  We won't be cruising until 2021. Thanks

Not only is it 10 dollars for the Krispy Kreme card, you have to be a member to get this killer deal 🤣. Move over Coke and Verizon rewards, I have a new worst rewards program that has been changed!

I do Coke rewards and have gotten a few maybe decent rewards, the latest being free movie tickets as well as a large popcorn and a couple of drinks to go with them...lol. But will look into Verizon to see what they offer..lol

    We..

    - fly with points

    - avoid high season and holidays

    - are not loyal to any particular cruise. The best value and itinerary wins our business.

    - book early, watch the prices drop and upgrade or get obc

    - skip specialty dining, except on celebratory occasions

    - bring the max allowable amount of wine and buy wine packages, if the value is there

    - fly with carry on bags only

    - don't shop onboard

    - gty cabins

    - sail long itineraries and repositioning cruises sometimes on older but refurbished ships

    - deal with a ta or book directly based on who is offering the best price and/or perks

I looked at this card briefly but ended up going with the Sapphire Reserve/Freedom Unlimited/Freedom combo. The Royal Caribbean card really only provides value when you are on the ship and it's 2x. The Sapphire gives 3x points for anything travel related and at a minimum you can redeem for 1c pp. Meaning if you spend $5000 on a cruise, you get 15,000 points which would equate to $150 (could be applied via statement to your onboard expenses AND you would earn points). If you spend $5000 on the RCL card (on a RCL purchase) you're only getting 10000 points which is $50 less in OBC. The Freedom Unlimited gets you 1.5x points on everything else (as opposed to RCL's 1x points on everything else), and the Freedom gets you 5x on rotating categories up to $1500 a quarter (these are fairly easy to max, which is an easy 7500 points per quarter).

Keep in mind most people use the points toward travel rather than statement credits. So if you have to fly to port or stay in a hotel, it's pretty easy to get your points to cover all of this. And when you redeem your points for travel they're worth 1.5c pp, which is more than what you get if you redeem for cashback. It's complicated, but definitely well worth it.

The CSR also has that  $300 travel credit. Would definitely apply towards a Cruise.

  6. Seems I am about to test out how good my QBE/Allianz travel insurance ANZ policy is.

Diagnosed with blood clot in leg today so my USA/Canada trip is off. Was due to fly next Sunday.

Not happy Jan, but it could have been much worse, happening on the plane or in USA.:loudcry::loudcry::loudcry:

Makes me think about being diagnosed with a,major illness 2 months after a trip. Definitely wish you well.

  7. We're looking at this port as well. We'd like to go to Rick's Cafe that is a couple hours away. I've heard people do it. But hoping someone comes along with more info such as recommended tours for this...

  8. We went on the Negril Excursion from Montego Bay and it was about 2 hours bus ride each way. Falmouth is further away than Montego Bay.

Even though this thread was started a while ago we just started doing research for a visit to Negril. We found the same thing that Montego Bay is closer to Negril. But we're looking to go to Rick's Cafe anyone do that from Montego Bay and can recommend a touring company?

  9. Depends on what plan you are using. Some are no carb, some are low carb. But in general, ditch the bun and use lettuce on a burger, thin crust or alternate crust pizza, (but you have to know the nutrition info and your plan rules) and no to cake (but there are protein bars if you need a chocolate or sweet fix).

Thanks for the ideas. I'll definitely have to start low...
