  1. Thanks! I really thought the $99 special was a good price, considering the circumstances!

I think the price steadily goes down, for example if it's your 2nd massage 20% off....3rd massage, then 30% They reward you for quantity!!! not sure how that figures on port days.

I do have to say. These steiner massage therapists tend not to give the TLC like you get back home from a regular therapist They know you aren't going to be a repeat customer so their treatments are very average. I'm saying this as someone who naively looked forward to going on a cruise for spa treatments. Their is no incentive for them to do a fantastic job, they probably won't see you again, no repeat clientele. Just one gals opinion.

  2. Tip the is not included in prepaid gratuities. You should tip what you feel te service was worth.

I know people say tip what you feel the service was worth but I feel like people now a days did not get taught how to tip from their parents. People are always asking how much to tip. That could be because they haven't travelled very much or it wasn't in their culture growing up. I wish someone would have a minimum guideline

I was taught (keep in mind minimums)

$2 per bag (hotel, porter, etc)

$2 for your shuttle bus driver

$20 for your tour bus driver

Valet - tip nothing when dropping the car then min $5.00 when picking up

bartender - $1 per drink (minimum, unless its auto added)

servers - 20% if service is poor 15% remember

Cruises - always pay the suggested

    hair/nails - 20%

To the OP, who said he couldn't imagine cruising without a genie. Sounds like the Genie made his cruise and was high value I would say $500 at the end of the cruise as I mentioned or at the very least $100 per person in the stateroom.

  3. Exactly. Even the teacher at my school who got a "Highly Effective" rating on her observation had "Suggestions for improving" on her write-up of the evaluation.

    NO ONE is perfect!

I disagree, their job is dependent on getting a good mark. I wish an RCI employee or insider would let us know how those ranks affect the crew. At my work, if a customer returns a survey less than a 10, it was a terrible job and nothing is awarded for less than a 10. Only people with a 10 or above get an extra bonus.

  4. Thanks for sharing your story. I would have had the same fit you did when not being acknowledged. I'm a lower roller than you and they usually treat me like gold (never had a room comped)

Royal needs to get their act together and have a more transparent casino loyalty program. everyone i hear from has a different experience.

  5. Hi Guys,

I just got back from a 3 night on the Enchantment. The Host Pedro was very good to me ( as most of the hosts usually are).

I know we have had these back and forth conversations about the (play being off) when playing at tables. Nick and I have definitely chatted about it before.

As I have said, my play is on average $155 per hand ( never less than 150 per spin and usually not more than 170).

On the morning of day 2 I went and checked with the host and yet again they had my average at 120/ hand ( totally wrong) Although they actually had the minutes of play right this time ( 4 hours for the first night of the cruise)

I expressed yet again that this was not accurate and this was not acceptable. They got together with the pit boss who knew I had never played less then 150 per hand... They made the necessary changes, but it is so frustrating that I have to take the time each day to go over my bets. It has something to do with the automated system and how they count spins, but no one could clearly explain it to me.

anyways... again cautionary tale.. make sure you check your play before you leave the ship. In my case the difference between the 120 per hand they were showing and the actual corrected average of 155 per hand makes a huge difference on my comps especially when I average 3 to 5 hours per day in the casino

    just my thoughts.

Thanks for the heads up....it's a good warning to bring it to their attention. I also feel my table play never gets accurately counted on the cruise, and some land casinos!

It's so annoying to have to point it out to them all the time.

  6. How come i placed a reservation through club royale originally during tax and fees free and everytime i call with a price drop if i get one of the women- they give me the price drop and do not try to add the taxes and fees back in but if i get one of the guys on the phone they tell me that i will actually be paying a bit more because THEY HAVE TO add the taxes and fees back in since i am changing the booking??????

I've called back for that same issues. haven't noticed it by male or female but just a different answer every time. The Club Royale booking phone number. ARGH

  7. Source?

I have friends who are flight attendants, and they are CONSTANTLY cruising, touring South America, touring Europe, etc., when not enjoying their Manhattan apartment.

They are definitely not frequenting soup kitchens and food banks!

Yes, my friend is a flight attendant for a discount airline and she makes more than $80,000.00 a year. Not rich but definitely can get by on that for one person in Florida. In the northeast it might be tough.

  8. Why are people so obsessed with tipping everyone and their granny? Is it for show? Is it a way of buying attention?

If this is a serious question I would like to know what year you were born if you don't mind saying so. Tipping is a way of showing appreciation above and beyond a thank you and a smile. Typically parents teach their children to tip.

  9. Ok, I did it. I calculated that a bartender gets paid $6.92 an hour, plus tips. With a beer that's $1.17 and a fruity drink that is $2.16 per drink. Pour an average of 10 drinks an hour, and they are getting $10 - 20 more per hour. Not bad for a bartender. I see nothing sad.

Agreed, they are well paid or else they wouldn't be there. That's good $$ !

  10. One of the values (if you can call t that) of having decent TV channels is following news, sports and weather while cruising. Princess gives you a local channel and a decent news channel at least--Royal gives neither.

It is funny that the very same people who seem to be deeply interested in internet speeds and service will say they don't need nor watch TV on a cruise. Electronic entertainment takes many forms and one is not 'better' than any other unless that is what YOU like it seems. Well I do agree with that--the best is whatever I prefer<sheepish grin>

Lol, you are right. Everyone is all down on TV (devil horns) but they have to have the fastest internet to live broadcast their cruise and post selfies

  11. Grease is not for children but things will go over their head, just make sure you accompany your kids. I remember hearing the song 'greased lightening' at age 8 and asking my mom what a "pu$$y wagon' was - lyrics in the song. She said something about Cats and kittens, and that was a good enough answer for my innocent mind.

  12. Day 1 of my cruise is embarkation day. This is a day I pay full fare for. My fare includes the use of the ship and included restaurants. This is why I get to the ship as early as possible and eat in restaurants I've already paid for.

    To each their own.

exactly - to each their own. There are some folks here that brag about ordering multiple entrees in the MDR and eating 12 lobsters. To get their 'fare' value. To each their own.

I'd rather eat in a nice ft. lauderdale restaurant and not deal with the hoards of people trying to get their value on!
