  1. NO. except for first and last nights...

I'm not a dresser for formal night either. I and many will not like this and think I'm strange, but on one of our last cruises, I virtually wore the same pants on all but 3 nights out of 14, and NO ONE NOTICED or cared, also they were just a dark colored easy wash/dry, yes I did have to wash them once LOL. We travel pretty light, I did have several matching, good looking shirts to wear with them.

  2. I like the Mojito's

But I have enjoyed some great one and some :(. My lady made me a Mait

Tai sorry maybe misspelled. All fresh ingredients and I usually do not care for sweeter drinks, but it was great, you will get mostly mixes on most drinks some OK some not so OK

  3. But fun, however they will not let you dock or drive the ship LOL

A lady captain actually as my lady if she wanted to set in the captains chair and gave her a captions hat. and of course she took the invite some fun pics were made. Now she did have to promise not to touch anything LOL.

  4. I doubt that the new pax will even notice loose rings until later. It will all depend on the pax, some will do the right thing and some will not. RC should make some what of a effort to get them back, but asking people to do the right thing can be a PITA, but if they pax chose not to turn them in, it might make them feel guilty LOL, well maybe.

sorry for the young lady, I hope they were insure.

  5. All,

Thanks for reading and replying. We will be on the Rhapsody of the Seas on August 26th, and we had wanted to avoid dressing up for formal nights. We thought we would go to Chops Grille and the Italian restaurant on the two formal nights. We had read on a website that the speciality restaurants require formal attire on formal nights, is this true?

We are on a one month Europe tour with only one bag each, we are trying if we can to avoid bringing formal clothes.

    Thanks so much!!

We are doing the same a little later.

We will have NO formal clothes, suit or jacket>>>>>>>>........ We will look nicer on the "SO CALLED FORMAL NIGHt(suggested dress). But nothing even close to "FORMAL" and will eat where we wish. We will not feel out of place or worry about what the fashion police say.

  6. It is creating a modern atmosphere on their cruise ships. and it was needed badly IMHO. I love the Evening Chic requested dress code it has made my cruise experience better. I do dress up, a little, even a jacket, well depends on the cruise, but I think maybe more modern, at least I do not look like I'm at a old style funeral and my so called dressier clothes look good everywhere except at a FORMAL event, of which I never attended, even when invited did not go........

We are in our late 60's and early 70's so age has nothing to do with it.

Having said that X and other cruise lines like HAL need to enforce just basic attire like long pants and a collard shirt of any style, and maybe a foot covering of sorts LOL. NO shorts, LOL what about short dresses, which make you look and wonder. Men are easy, women are hard to say what is basic LOL.

  7. You can do with a lot less luggage and packing if packed RIGHT with the right type of clothes. Yes you will wear the same clothes more than once, no one will mind or know except your self.

Having said that many cruisers like to DRESS to the nines, NO PROBLEM with that, I guess it is a take back to the earlier years of cruising or like us, only a few places in Florida can a person dress to the NINES and not look out of place. I still like the Evening Chic dress code which can be easily achieved by shopping at TJ MAX or similar places and most of the clothes will look good any where. Heck my wife just bought another simple dresser outfit that is wrinkle free, easy wash, takes up LITTLE room and LOOKs great for the so called "FORMAL NIGHT"

  8. They are simply doubling the price and then adding what the missing person would spend on Drinks and other ships services.

Many many cruisers go on a cruise and NEVER spend a dive extra. They do not drink alcohol, or need or buy anything, they just want to cruise and doing something other than staying at home.

OH well, as others have said has to be a glitch and we all know RC is perfect.

  9. Prices will fall some what. Some booking sites will let you put a email price alert to some flights or cities.

I just booked to Athens, and waited and waited and finally it did come down and I was alerted to it by a web site.

  10. I have always been the FRUGAL traveler............ and when we were young we did similar things. Yes, you can do it, but if money is that short, WHY(this is how I feel now) go anyway. I simply want to enjoy my cruise/vacation, at the cheapest rate we can get. I want to be relaxed and enjoy without having to work, live or be bother or bother others by my and theirs peculiarities.

Oh what the heck give it a try!!!!!

  11. On my last cruise the lobster tails were the small warm water variety that are not that tasty.

I have enjoyed all the Florida Spiny Lobster I could every want. The biggest issue problem with cooking them is over cooking and how they are cooked. It took me many years to find the best "overall" way to cook them. RC and most other cruise lines must cook them, I guess by steaming, some times they are tougher than cocky pucks. It is a very thin line between over done and underdone. I have experienced both on RC. I will agree they are not Maine or Cold water lobster, but if prepared correctly they are "almost as good"

  12. Post like this get my hair, what is left of it LOL, UP I'm 75 and think, behave and act like a much much younger man. I know many people age differently, but If your MIL is truly a SENIOR citizens, they will enjoy a trip where they do not have to make the bed or cook, and do many thing that they already do at home., like read, watch a movie, and just RELAX, with a lot more "activities" like the evening shows and, yes belly, flop contest.

  13. There are two Ibis, we chose the Expensive one LOL McDonalds and TGI Friday are across the parking lot, breakfast at the Ibis is good and well priced for the UK. We stayed 4 days there before our cruise last year. Southhampton is a expensive so get ready. Remember, I do not think any hotels have AC. well the more expensive one Maybe. Only issue we had was some people yelling in the parking lot at 1 AM but remember it is a College town LOL.

Check the price often, book or rebook as needed, sometimes they will give you a free breakfast.

If you have the time wander to the old city and visit the Titanic Bar and restaurant, it is where the Passengers and crew ate before the sinking, and truly some relatives still eat there. Not touristy at all.

  14. Please do not go out and buy unwanted, unneeded, clothes,.

IMHO, as other have said, and if you are concern, just look a little nicer on Formal nights. My wife and I always dress nicer for the quote "FORMAL" night but NEVER look like we might be going to a old time funeral. or a debutante party.

  15. I think this depends on your physical condition, more than which one you choose. I have done all you mentined and I will tell you that if you get to the rim of Mt Vesuvius you are in great condition, Pompeii is extremely interesting if you like history. As mentioned you will be sweating most likely will be hot and bring rain gear. Capri is fun, and easier to do.

  16. Cruises/Land tours, etc. What was, for us, any kind of travel adventures of 3 weeks to a month were between $5k and $8K are now between $10 and $15K or more. However, traveling on you own, and staying a week or more in a special place and touring the local area is still a reasonable adventure, even if you have to rent a car.

Having said that, one Travel Agency we have used has around two week hub and spoke tours to many places with B and D daily including air and transfers for less for about $2800 PP when we did one it was $2300,
