  1. If I ask for something when we arrive I will give the person $5-$10 then if he continues good service, I will give more every couple of days....say I ask for a lounge chair on the balcony, or to have ice in my room twice a day, extras like that. One time we had my mother and she was 80something, the room stewart was really good with her. When we went into port and she stayed in her room, he would check on her and bring her things. I gave him between $10 and $20 a day.

My mother felt she was a queen.

  2. For price drops it shouldn't matter if you used a travel agent or booked through Carnival, what makes is the difference is the fare code you used. For example, it sounds as though you used Early Saver on your other cruises. If AAA is telling you you have only 48 hours, either that is their own person policy as Carnival allows price drops until final payment on bookings should the price go down. Many times though, the price doesn't really drop until after final payment.

We use travel agents and tell them we want to book Early Saver. If they don't want to do that, we don't book with them. It can be a pain in the neck for an agency to make adjustments and lose commission, but it is a fare you can get if you want to meet the restrictions and it's available.

I have to say and I am not trying to be mean, but the way you asked your question was very confusing and I can see if your agent was confused. To make it easier you need to know what cabin category you want to book, i.e. 8A,8B etc and then make a comparison to the same cabin type 8A, 8B etc to see if the rates went up or down and then look at the taxes you paid.

Good luck and I hope you get a reduction if it applies to you

Thank you, no I do not think you are being rude.

I was confused myself. I have called Carnival and talked to a PVP and I want to book through them, but others have already booked through AAA and I hate to cause problems with getting tables together at dinner. They said AAA could tie our reservations together if they give them my reservation number, but I am afraid that might not work right. Any advice?

  3. Can anyone help me understand, How do you get the price protection? What I am reading, through AAA they only price protect for 48hours. The last time we cruised we were able to keep lowering our price right up to a few days before the cruise.

Is it better to book right through Carnival?
