You swipe your ship card and indicate how many wash and detergent tokens you need. The charges are then added to your onboard account.

Last time I used self service laundry, it was $3 wash, $3 dry, $1.50 detergent.

    Thank you both!

  2. I just wanted to post this. I e-mailed Carnival about my son with Autism, since we will be sailing on Sunday. I also e-mailed RCCL because in December we will be traveling with 4 children with varying needs. The responses I received back couldn't have been more different.

Carnival called me personally to ask me a few questions. They are e-mailing the port with our expected arrival time and names. When we get there, we simply give our names to the porter when we hand over our luggage and we will be immediately escorted onto the ship. No standing in the long, crowded lines. My son and I will get a private muster drill in the stateroom, while DH takes our two daughters to the regular muster drill. I will show our son where the muster station is at some point that afternoon or evening. They wanted to know what DS functioning age was in case he needed to be in a different club than Circle C, which is his age group. Since they have video games in Circle C, I expect that he will go straight for those and we won't see him again except at dinner and bedtime. They asked if we needed a private table in an isolated or quiet part of the dining room. When I said I didn't think that would be necessary, the young man said that if it turned out to be needed I simply had to talk to the Maitre'D and they would arrange it for the rest of the cruise. He was just AWESOMELY HELPFUL.

RCCL was completely the opposite. They said we couldn't get priority boarding or onto the ship faster, without the crowds and long lines. And then for my other questions I was told to simply talk to guest services once we were on board and they would see if they could accommodate our requests. And this was sent in an e-mail. I don't know what sort of review or qualifications Autism on the Sea does to give the rating or recommendation that RCCL got from them, but it is so not deserved at all.

Carnival has my loyalty from now on. We may try a Disney cruise in another year or so. They are so much more expensive that I doubt we will, but other than that, we will stick with Carnival.

I receive the same response from Princess after letting them know when we would arrive and it wasn't their suggested time of 2:45p. I did explain that we can not board and rush my son straight to the muster drill, he needs time to adjust to the ship. I just asked for a quieter place to wait after we arrive at the port and if we can stay in the room till disembarkation too.

  3. While some would rather be surprised. Some of us enjoy seeing the activities and specials as part of our excitement and prepping in our upcoming cruise. I can also plan around our sons time in the clubs with playing Bingo, so we can spend time together too. And what spa treatment I might want on a port day. To each his own. :D Happy Curising!!

  4. You can see the Pacifico Brewery from the ship. Just head in that general direction once you leave the terminal. It's less than one mile each way.

Information is conflicting as to whether the brewery still offers tours.

Thank you! Guess we'll take our chances on a tour if we just show up.

  5. We did a 4-Day CA Coastal on the Crown from 02/06 to 02/10. Afternoon movies in the Princess Theater were Gone Girl, Boy Hood and Guardians of the Galaxy. Evening movies on MUTS were Concert: Maroon 5 Live at Home, The Fault in our Stars, The Giver and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. We enjoyed the first two movies in the Princess Theater but skipped MUTS.

    Thank you!

Any from the current Mexican Riviera??

  6. I was just on the Royal and we went a few times to the Bogo but like mentioned Crooners was CRAZY. Club 6 at 11 pm was much better.

We even bought bottles of wine - got two for the price of one! Very handy.

They also had a shooter deal. $3 and you got to keep the glassSee attached

This is during the Happy Hour too?

  7. I found the blue line walking route on Google maps. I had to zoom in all the way to see the Blue line that is painted on the street.

It starts at the exit of the port at Emilio Baragan & Calle Playa Azul. Turn right on Carnaval. Go straight on Carnaval to Plaza Machado (must go up the stairs).

Thank you so very much!! :D

You wouldn't happen to know the route to the Pacifico Brewery too?

  8. Shame we have to look out for a staff member in a white coat. For one, I would never touch another person's belongings. Some passengers are just downright inconsiderate.

Yes it is darn right inconsiderate to hog a chair/lounger for hours with stuff left there when people are walking around waiting for a place to sit and try to enjoy their vacation too. If they feel it's their right it save THEIR spot then someone from their group better stay there to save them. As the OP stated a reasonable amount of time should be given if they went to their room, bathroom or grab something to eat. But hours to half a day is crazy. I for one do my best to consider what I do effects others and would never leave my chair unattended unless I am coming back immediately. But that's me and probably most of our fellow cruisers.

  9. There is a child safety restraint that worked really good for our son at 4 1/2 when we went across country and multiple airports. One less thing to carry around when you have a stroller and carry-ons.

As for outfits, make a list of days and try and use the outfits twice or even 3 times. There is the laundry option or like me I carry a little woollite, but on our 15nt Hawaiian we used the laundry option halfway through the cruise. It made it more worry free.

  10. My husband is dying... he's had several bad issues with his medical care provider who said that's all they could do for him... yet, someone who spends their day watching which ship is leaving late or on time... frankly, I hope they can pursue this pastime... goodness knows, not many people have the time or energy on something this frivolous. IMHO.

So sorry to hear this. Please take some time for yourself so you don't get too stressed. It can and will take a toll on you. As the OP said hugs to you and lots of prayers too.

Jamesnnb, I too sometimes watches the port cam and dream of my next cruise. If I could only go as often as I dream. ;)

  11. Our youngest was 5y/o on our 15nt Hawaii cruise. Yes there were less kids. Yes the programs hours were the same as any other cruise. There were fully if not over staffed and they even did a lot of family activities in the club that they would not be able to do with a full club of kids. Most nights the staff would come to the main dining room at the right time to wisk them up to the club so we could end our dinner relaxed. If you unsure, call the cruise line and ask. They can tell you the total # of kids that will be on it and I bet with it coming around spring break it will have way more kids than our Oct sailing.

  12. We did an egg hunt in the room with money (1's, 5's and 10's) in the eggs. He loved having money to spend in the onboard store and if there's left over there always the video arcade. Don't stress whatever you do she'll love. Don't forget to go by the dollar store and get small decorations or window/mirror decals for your room and magnets stick to the doors and walls. Enjoy!!
