  1. I called purex and they no longer make 3 in 1 sheets. They had the pods instead. I told them this is a big mistake. crusiers love them. my best hint bring magnets and put paper to the wall. also one at the door and hang lanyards when you go in and out.

I still have one package, so I will hang onto them and only use them for cruising. I get free laundry, but I can use them for the items I want to wash cold and hang dry. Platinum laundry is hot and hot.

  2. Just checking to see if some of these are still valid.

    1. Do they still give out decks of cards at guest services?

Yes, but it may depend upon the cruise and GS. We got about 5 decks between the 6 of us with no problem at all but we were on a Transatlantic so they knew that we would be at sea for lots of days and lots of card playing would go on.

    2. Can someone still get a lanyard from the casino?

Yes, they are still available, I think. We saw a lot of people with casino lanyards and holes poked in their S&S cards.

    3. Can I still "cash out" at the Casino also?

Yes. They realize we do it but they haven't stopped it.

  3. Just wanted to throw this out there... I hear time and time again that "we" paid all this money to get this status you should not be able to buy FTTF as an option! I understand that there are a lot of folks who live near ports or are a cheap flight away. So cruising is relatively cheap those of you. Easy to get on two maybe three cruises a year. Fair enough right? I am good with that.

I live in Canada and love to cruise. I spend about 1700$ (CAD) per person including flights (three in our family) to enjoy he same cruise. Doing the math I figure for me to gain platinum which is even harder now would be roughly 127,500. That's a house !! We also spend 12- 14 hrs in planes and airports to get there. So 50$ to get those perks are a no brainer!!

The only reason I am doing this is to make people aware that we love the FTTF because it is not feasible to think we will be enjoying platinum any time soon:rolleyes:. My intentions are only to raise awareness to the fact that the option that carnival offers may be geared to those of us whom may not see these perks if it were not for these offerings;).I am not saying we are more deserving nor do I feel we are more important than any one else .. Just like to be spoiled once in a while!

False assumption. Just because you live in Canada doesn't mean you are farther from the ports than we are. How far do you think the West Coast (and Arizona) are from Florida, anyway? 3,000 miles! So, just because we are American doesn't mean we don't pay the big bucks to become Platinum. Most of my days at sea were in the Med or on a TA, so I paid REALLY big bucks on the airfare to get there.

So, just don't make false assumptions like that.

  4. Interesting.

Maybe this is a cultural or generational thing?

We always leave room service trays in the hall, thought that was proper procedure?

That way they could be picked up without disturbing occupants of the cabin(us).

    .

I believe it's a "hotel" thing. Most hotels want you to leave trays in the hallways so they don't wait in the room for the maid service. They also have wider hallways. Hotels are not like cruise ships, however, where your steward comes in 3 times a day to freshen up and removes them at that time.

NEVER, EVER, leave a tray in the hallway. If it's in your way, call room service and ask them to come and remove it.

  5. People feel when the rest of us can buy the FTTF (faster to the fun) for $50.00 per cabin? Yet it takes many cruises to get that Platinnm/Diamond status !! Just ! Please don't flame me :)

    ;)

FTTF is limited, depending upon how many Diamonds and Platinums are booked and if it works right, I care very little. I do care some, because I spent thousands getting my Platinum status, but not enough to ruin my good time.

If it works right, FTTF gets on AFTER DIAMONDS AND PLATINUMS and that's okay by me.

FTTF don't get gifts, don't get free laundry or chocolate covered strawberries. Platinum card still means more at the Platinum/FTTF window at Guest Services (I get lots of favors when I ask). Tender ports aren't that numerous, but nice to have I guess. I get off the ship whenever I want, so no crimp in my style there.

Many times, before becoming Platinum, I arrived at port minutes after boarding started and still got on within minutes.

All in all, some people will have just wasted $50 for what they get. JMO

  6. Headed out Monday....will let you know if they are just as good on the Sunshine...my magic 8 ball says - "All Signs Point to YES"

Absolutely YES! Was on Sunshine for 16 days and had at least 6 of them. Became our "afternoon snack" to tide us over for late dinner.

  7. :o

I was just watching the Ecstasy leave PC and noticed something I've never seen before. There was a banner strung up on the deck 8 aft railing that said "Security Warning: Stay 50 Feet Back". Did anybody else notice this? Maybe I've just missed it before.

They always put these on in port. It might even be a requirement, I'm not sure.

  8. Prior to the recent meetings, John Heald was asking quick fire questions on (that other place ) as to what people's favorite desserts were, whether they wanted to sit with others outside their party, whether they preferred Early, Late, YTD, whether they like orchestras or steel bands or DJs.

I got the feeling he was taking the info into the meetings. It will be interesting to see what they announce.

Personally, I would love to see (1) BBQ ribs moved to another night, (2) creme brulee on every night menu and (3) steel band or orchestra.

I think they are doing well already seating people alone who want to be alone and seating others at big tables with others if they prefer.

  9. For anything besides FTTF, the answer is NO. You cant book an excursion before the cruise is paid off. I think they let you book FTTF because it effects your boarding experience before you get on the ship. But I would make sure that if you do order FTTF before fianl payment it shows on your paid in full receipt.

I have NOT made full payment yet for a cruise next summer but I have chosen and paid for all excursions, so I think you are mistaken.

I have found, however, that when using one browser or another it would not let me book excursions and when I used a different browser, it worked fine. OP should not use safari.

    Try Firefox or IE.

  10. Originally I booked Sunshine because I was so excited to try 2.0. Now after reading all the reviews that Carnival is just cheapening things and only seems to care about getting in your wallet, I am so sad, thinking I will no longer like my beloved Carnival. I mean things like taking away my free pre dinner sushi, fish and chips and live steel drums music are practically deal breakers for me. Then everyone says the food is not as good anymore (in an effort to get you to pay a surcharge for the restaurants with the better food, something I really hate). What's next, taking away my beloved melting cake? I don't think a few changes of 2.0 can make up for the things that are now gone. I am sure wishing I booked one of the pre conversion ships :(

You will be glad you went for it and experienced the 2.0 The food was great. Guy's is not to be missed. WCMC is too popular--they won't take it away. When I asked for Bitter n Blanc and Grand Marnier Souffle, they assured me they were coming and they did come. JiJi is not much of an upcharge ($6??) and everyone says it's worth it (I don't do sushi). They had a spot on Ocean Plaza called "The Taste Bar" with samples of food that they serve so you can try just a spot to see if you like it. One night it was Sushi. During the day, the Taste Bar is a soup and salad (made to order) bar.

  11. So far it has always been renewed in the past few years we have used it. There has always been an "end date," but it has, so far, always been extended.

Thank you! You have just MADE MY DAY!

I just bought it not too long ago and my cabinmate is using HER shareholder benefit. Can only use one per cabin but I bought it on the assumption that I could use it next August.:D:D:D
