Thanks all, can I just clarify, if (and it's probably a big if ;)) I had a win could I ask for it to be credited towards cruise account rather than take out cash?

I have seen lovely photos of the IC and even though I am 69 days away from my cruise I am lusting after more food porn.:o:o

You can even put US cash into the slots. You just don't get cash back as anything left goes on to your casino account. You have to go to the cashier to get the cash from your casino account.

Last cruise I booked with an American cruise line was Celebrity and although I am a UK resident I booked through a US agent. This meant that even past final balance date they let me upgrade and keep benefits when prices dropped close to sailing. Is this possible with Princess if I have booked direct with them in the UK?

I don't gamble a lot but like to have probably $20 or so on the slots of an evening or perhaps a couple of spins on roulette. Just wondering whether I need cash in dollars (I'm from UK) or if it just gets charged to the card. On celebrity it was cash - I think - and I withdrew cash on my cruise card at the casino cashiers window.

I'm hoping the Royal is better than the Infinity for food. We found the buffet on Infinity lacking in food choice and quality, only cruise ship where we really didn't enjoy the food. The MDR was little better.

We were in the aft area on Caribe deck,balcony cabin C711, on the Regal.

Since it is a sister ship,I am assuming that Royal has a similar layout and offers similar services.

It was easy to get to the HC buffet.

They had an area in the pastry section where they would make the specialty coffees and fresh brewed coffee that they make in the IC.

No need to go down to the piazza for "good" coffee at breakfast time.

We never had a problem with the aft elevators.

The cabin location is also convenient to the laundry room,if you are so inclined to do laundry on vacation!

Thanks sounds great, we found it odd on Celebrity that they have no laundry but we managed and I am now planning to manage without on every cruise lol ;)

I'd be happy with your cabin assignment & have not heard of any soot issues on cabins located on the side of the ship. You're 3 decks below Lido deck where the buffet is located & we'd much prefer aft over fore cabins...particularly my motion sickness prone wife because the front of the ship would experience more motion.

 

The midship elevators do not go above deck 7 & that's another advantage of your cabin. The aft elevators go to deck 6 (only to the Allegro traditional dining room) or deck 7 (Promenade) where you can walk inside the entire length of the ship. It is further away from the IC but the walk will burn off a few calories from your food. ;)

:D I am an early riser and I expect even with a balcony I will do a lot of early morning trotting around the ship. Although without hubby coming on this trip I don't have to be as quiet early mornings in the cabin.

Just got off the Regal today. Our cabin was E726, the last aft cabin next to the suites and we didn't notice any soot whatsoever. :)

We have A726 on a cruise on the Royal Princess for August and was concerned about possible soot problems, it is side facing but very close to the aft balconies. Hoping it isn't affected by soot.

We booked on a guarantee and were aloocated this cabin. Are you able to ask to be moved if you booked on a guarantee for the same grade cabin you have been allocated?

I have been studying deck plans and seems cabins above and below, with lifts fairly close by to get up to buffet, pool and kids clubs easily.

So still wondering abou the soot problem and whether the aft lifts go down to a floor where you can walk through to the atrium/piaza or would we need to walk through on Aloha deck to middle lifts? Looks like we are a good distance from international cafe :( so no just popping down for morning coffe and bun.

I booked a BZ guarantee which would have meant a forward balcony cabin on marina or Lido deck - which although currently listed as obstructed aren't.

I did contact Princess by email twice to say that I wanted to stay in that category BZ but seemed to get the same generic reply each time not really answering or replying to my exact request.

I have been allocted a balcony cabin on Aloha deck A726 which is very aft. Is this an ok deck and location, will there be problems with soot on deck?

Is it just one scoop of gelato for a whole punch on the coffee card? And are they $3.50 each without the card. I'm not a big coffee drinker but DD would definitely eat the gelatos.

Also is the coffee card only good while there is a punch left on it or can you still get brewed coffee free after all the punches have been used?

Yes at the bar next to the IC.

Children can accrue cruise points but they will not be eligible for any of the membership perks until they turn 18. So you children will always have blue cards until they turn 18. EM

Lovely thank you, exactly what I wanted to know.

I queried with Princess that one of my previous cruises with P&O was not in my cruise history and they have added it now. I also explained that my 14 year old daughter had been on that cruise aswell but she is still showing as blue membership. Are children under 18 only allowed blue membership? I know there are very little benefits to gold but she will be most put out to still have a blue card if she should have a gold one. ;)

Finally got the chance to try the egg mcmuffin sandwich one morning which I took to enjoy in a quiet lounge waiting for the first trivia session of the day to start.

 

My go to breakfast at home usually includes one of the Jimmy Dean egg sandwiches and these were very close and yummy.

Trying to get my head around the coffee card, does it give unlimited regular coffee here and 15 specialities/gelatos?

Just trying to work out if I could use for coffees and daughter also get the gelato.
