  1. I was reading the description on the coffee select card and I'm a little confused. It states that with the card gets you 15 specialty espresso-based coffees, but also states that you get 50% off individually purchased coffees. Does this mean that I can only get espresso drinks free and regular coffee would be 50% off or that once I purchase 15 coffee drinks the rest would be 50% off?

Here's the verbiage from the RCL website.

"Indulge in your favorite brews any time of day with a card that entitles you to any 15 specialty espresso-based coffees throughout your vacation, all for one low price. Start the morning off right with a macchiato or latte and reenergize your afternoons with iced coffee or an espresso, then finish your meal with a cappuccino. Or enjoy your favorite cup of joe any time you'd like and save up to 50% on individually purchased coffees."

  2. Ummm... His 2nd birthday will be on our cruise so he really is unde 2 for the flight there, just not home

Make sure you purchase him a seat (or verify with the airline) for the flight home. My niece had to by a seat for her little one last minute because she turned 2 during the trip. they were under the impression that as long as they were under 2 when they started the trip it would be okay.

Check out the Bumble Bum inflatable car seat booster. I use them for the grand kids when we travel. very compact and not too expensive.

  3. Check out the Columbus Cove Beach Bungalow. We did that in Jan. Very nice. They keep the beach in front of the bungalows private (they chase people out), it's close to bathrooms, bars, and lunch. It's much cheaper than a cabana, and can accommodate 8 people.

Do you have any pictures? I've only rented the cabanas so I'm curious what the difference is.

  4. I'll be cruising on the Gem in June and it will be the first time on NCL so I'm not really sure what questions to ask but here's a few. Where is the best place to eat lunch on embarkation day? What time were the rooms ready? Where is the best place for sail away? How did the free style dining work? What else do I need to know as a first time NCL cruiser?

  5. That's good to know. I'll be traveling with my parents who are very down to earth type people and don't like fancy. A few questions How long does dinner service generally take? Types / quality of specialty restaurants (we got 3 free as part of our package) What types of shows do they have? Any must do activities, food, etc? Best place to eat on embarkation day? Can you board anytime day one or are they pretty strict on arrival time?

  6. First time Disney cruise....I'm looking at the Disney Magic and they have 10B and 10C categories. In some cases the cabins are next to each other and they appear to have the same description yet the 10c costs a bit more. Can someone tell me what, if any difference there is between these two categories.

  7. OneBlood is a scam...you "donate" your blood for free, they sell it to hospitals and pay their CEO a hefty salary. They should be paying you.

If you want to donate blood go directly to the hospital

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but almost all blood banks charge recipients for receiving blood. I've had numerous blood transfusions due to leukemia treatments and even with designated donor blood I'm still charged.

  8. My experience on Freedom last year was that children in swim diapers were only allowed in the baby splash pool which was a very small pool with 2 or 3 inches of water. Swim diapers were not allowed in the H20 splash area or in any other pools.

    Here's from RCCL website

Due to public health regulations, children in diapers, swim diapers, pull-ups or who are not COMPLETELY toilet trained are not allowed in the pools, whirlpools or H2O zone. Children in diapers or who are not toilet trained may use the Baby Splash Zone specially designated for them on the Freedom of the Seas®, Liberty of the Seas®, Independence of the Seas®, Oasis of the Seas®, and Allure of the Seas®.

  9. Adventure Ocean Club - My two grandsons ages 3 and 5 really enjoyed going to the kids club. I will say the area is very small but the staff was great and had a variety of activities to keep this age group entertained. Each day had a different theme with bugs and superheros being their favorite.

Pool area - This is another area that as expected was small. there were two pools, the main pool and one for small kids. The main pool was generally crowded but people seemed to be enjoying themselves. We spent most of our time in the kids pool area which at most had 7 or 8 kids in it.

No movies were shown on deck. Not certain what the issue was but heard that they couldn't get the sound to work.

Chair hogs - did not encounter any issues finding a lounge chair around the pool. On deck 11 there are comfy cabana style loungers and a few hammocks. There aren't many so finding one available was hit or miss.

  10. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Royal says on their website that Empress boarding is suppose to be quick. Not an hour and half.

    From the RCI website-

With fast and early boarding, dining what you want when you want it, and longer stays in port.

Someone who just boarded today posted that their pier experience was VERY fast and efficient. Sometimes it's the luck of the draw.

I really don't think it would have been as bad if they hadn't kept trying to split us up into different lines based on C&A status (not letting the non- diamond members of our party to go in the diamond line even thought they were in the same cabin but with different set sail passes)

  11. We were on the May 28th sailing. There was no kids menu and when we asked if there was anything else my daughter could order the waiter just looked confused. A few nights into it, the waiter said they could do cheese pizza. It was much later than the other food and was terrible. Just cheese melted on bread.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

On our sailing they did have a designated kids menu that listed entrée and dessert.

  12. Just off Empress (June 2nd - 6th) with my grandsons ages 3 and 5.

The kids area is very small but the staff was great and both kids enjoyed going.

At dinner you can either sign the kids up to eat dinner there or staff will pick them up outside the dining room at 6:45 p.m.

The food available on the kids menu is pretty much the same as we've had on other ships. Hamburgers, Pizza, Hot Dogs, etc. Nothing spectacular but they shouldn't have difficulty finding something to eat. They can also order off the main menu if desired.
