One of my favorite drinking spots in Brickell, So Cal Tacos, shares a building with a great pizza place called Mister 01... There's also Coyo Taco, which has great food and drinks.

Thanks Sid- I’ll be sure to check these out!

  2. Going on Breakaway 8/11 and am a little nervous reading recent reviews.  I know it will be crowded because it’s summer, but hoping to have good service.  Been on Pearl, Dawn, Epic, Getaway x3, Escape- so far Escape has been my favorite.  Sid, are any of the bars/restaurants you went to in Miami kid-friendly?  We will have my 8 y/o with us...would obviously not go for a fine dining experience.  We are staying in the Brickell area.  Thanks!

  3. I don’t see how they will do this with the current configuration of adventure ocean.  I don’t know what they have done on the Oasis regarding physical changes to the AO rooms- can someone enlighten me?  The kids are in separate rooms depending on age so unless the rooms all connect, then I don’t know how they are doing this??

We went on Disney last month and their kids club was very large, with two huge rooms connected by another play area with many different nooks and rooms so the kids could do what they wanted.  They also had scheduled activities for the kids, but they weren’t forced to participate. When you checked your kid out they use the gps in the wristband to find where exactly your kid is.  I think it was either 3-11 or 3-12, then the older kids had their own teen clubs in separate areas of the ship. It sounds like Royal is maybe trying to do this?  I can see thus being problematic for a 3 or 4 year old being mixed in with much older kids 🤷‍♀️

We plan on moving to south east of Raleigh. Charlotte is supposed to be really nice too. That’s farther west. I have friends who moved down to Clayton (SE of Raleigh). We are looking around there in that vicinity. Love the weather. They have all four seasons but much milder winter. I’m a NE gal but I’ve about had it with these winters! Would not like Florida though. Too hot.

You will love it here! I’m in the RDU area for about 10 years now.  We get four seasons, but very mild winters (mostly ice, not snow).  A lot of people from NY/NJ move here.

I cruise and travel a lot and fly from RDU frequently.  There are plenty of nonstops from RDU to FLL or MCO on Delta and Southwest.  American has three nonstops a day to MIA but they are pricey. Delta has seasonal nonstops to MIA.  Also cruised from NY and NJ and there are plenty of nonstops at good prices ( I will only fly nonstop).

  5. Sorry to hear about your flat tire- I hate car trouble.  I was driving home from work Thursday and a deer decided to commit suicide by leaping into the side of my brand new car.  Luckily, we were not hurt and the car can be fixed.  My son was traumatized because the deer was still alive 😓.  I called the police to get an accident report and he ended up putting the deer out of its misery.  Headed to Orlando on Thursday and going on Disney Fantasy on Saturday!  I can’t wait!

  6. We were just at Coco Cay on Easter Sunday and it is looking really good.  I was shocked that we actually docked- was there December 2018 and the dock looked no where close to being finished.  The water park looks awesome but I am disappointed to read about the outrageous prices.  The pool is really nice and quite large, with a swim up bar, zero-entry area with little fountains, and loungers that are in the water.

I would not knowingly drag up an old post.....  be happy to read your VIsta review (love all reviews and doing them if you read my Oasis review).  Totally up front question (really trying to keep it up scale and above the weeds), if you feel so strongly on the clientele, then why be here at all?  Obviously as you mention, you can speak with your wallet and that says more (to Carnival) then words posted here (especially on a Carnival board).  If you feel strongly that most of the clientele that sails these ships are pond scum then turn around, walk away and be done with it.  For the record, on my last Carnival cruise on the Breeze, there were many smokers, and I have allergy based asthma that this causes havoc with, so I cannot argue the smoking point.  I have no idea on drug activity on the ships, on a rare event (for the record experienced it on the Oasis as well) we smelled pot.  All that said my question about being here stands, why be here?

Honestly, I am rarely on the Carnival boards anymore.  The only reason I responded to this thread was I got an email notification today about it.  I’m not a frequent poster on CC, as you can tell from my post count.  However, when I feel strongly about something (such as my 8/18 Vista cruise) I do like to speak up.  I am very disenchanted with Carnival and actually very disappointed to see what my once-favorite cruise line has been reduced to.

I am just making a generalization when I say Carnival clientele are low-class.  This is of course not true of EVERY Carnival cruiser.  I guess I’ve just outgrown the drunken frat party scene, and I’m OK with that.  I travel a lot with children, and just don’t want to be exposed to fist-fights, pot smoke, twerking, constant f-bombs, etc.  Our next cruise is on Disney, go figure.

When I see news headlines that concern Carnival, I may come over to CC and peruse these boards. An example recently is the people in the elevator that are now banned from Carnival.

  8. Hi, it will be my first time cruising as a diamond on the 3-day Enchantment Cruise. I have looked at the guide on Royal’s website regarding tier benefits, but does anyone have the specific coupons that will be loaded on the seapass card?

Also, is there a ‘Diamond Club’ on Enchantment?  Am I able to bring my minor child to this - I’m assuming he will be a Diamond as well?  Thanks for any tips!

  9. Our guest was the head security officer, and his first time traveling on a world voyage.  When he asked the three of us if this was our first world cruise, we all said no.  But when he heard how many we and Barb have done, he looked in disbelief.  No, we don’t make these things up, and truthfully, few people ask this question.

I am curious about this statement.  When meeting new people, I would think cruising history, especially world cruises, would be a topic of conversation?  Is there an unwritten rule in the President’s Club or world cruise etiquette that makes asking such questions rude/verboten?  Enjoying your blog and pictures- been reading for years.  I’m still working/raising kids, but dream of a world cruise one day!  Would you ever sail a world cruise on another cruise line?  Do you ever get bored with HAL?

  10. Following...I read one of your reviews when you were on a Carnival ship and really enjoyed it.  You seem like an interesting person to hang out with.  Going on Breakaway in August, so I’m looking forward to your review!  Have an awesome time in NOLA!  Went to Mardi Gras years ago while I was in college and let’s just say I’m glad there were no cell phones/social media back then!! 🤔
