  1. I think we did this, if we are talking about the same thing....it's an easy walk; and once you get there lots of paths thru the greenery. It's a pleasant stroll but nothing truly memorable. Good views and good people watching - lots of European tourists strolling as well. It appeared to be a popular area for vacation rentals.

It was a good way to recover in peace after all the "attention" you get in the bazaar!

    Good luck.

  2. A few months ago we were driving to San Pedro from San Diego for a short getaway cruise, and we got trapped on the freeway due to a chemical spill which closed all but one lane! We had to creep along for almost 3 hours before we passed the blockage...

We walked (ran) up to the terminal at 3:30 - there were still a couple of men taking luggage, and there was one check in window still open; most of the other check-in staff were leaving as we were entering! But no one said a word about us being late, so it must not be an uncommon occurrence... We were never so happy to get on a ship!

Last month when we did a similar cruise we left SD earlier than usual and were among the first to board. :o) We took advantage of the extra time to walk over to the USS Iowa and take their tour. It was a much more relaxing way to start a vacation!

    Good luck and have fun!

  3. Husky Homestead with Jeff King is fabulous!

Had a great small group tour to Giverny and Rouen with lunch at an old inn out in the country by the Seine -- beautiful and romantic.

Our first guide in St Petersburg back in the '90s was a university professor and know so much about both the history and current events, she was very enlightening.

We did not enjoy our recent Butchart Garden bus tour - we were there way too long. There are so many good private excursions on the Alaska cruise that I would probably not book through the ship.

We tend to do a mix of Princess tours and private tours, and really can't think of any disasters - planning is part of the fun!

  4. We're taking a Princess cruise from San Pedro next week. Does anyone know for sure whether/when we can drop our bags with the porters so we can go elsewhere while we wait for them to start boarding? We intend to get there a little early and take a look at the Iowa on the next pier.

    Thanks!

  5. Thanks for the help! It's completely my fault; my glasses are just for back up to my contacts, and I frankly do not remember where I stashed them in the room, but they are definitely not at home. I didn't even think about it until I unpacked.

The thing I hate is the cost of replacing something I use so seldom! I'll give Celebrity a call and keep my fingers crossed.

  6. I suspect I left my glasses in the room when I debarked from the Solstice Friday. Can anyone tell me the best way to contact them to ask if the cleaning staff found them and turned them in?

    Thanks. Lynda

  7. We were on this itinerary a year ago on the Sapphire, and the food in the MDR was outstanding. We are longtime Princess fans, and commented every night about how much we enjoyed it. We also had Anytime dining, and had no problem with long waits for dinner - always between 6:30 - 7:30.

Makes me wonder if the difference is the chef, kitchen crew, menu ??? Apparently every cruise is different...
