I am not worried. As far as I am concerned what I have bought includes sparkling by the glass. If they try and move the goalposts post purchase guest services will get a visit and they will have to please me by upgrading my package to deluxe for free!!
That said I am not convinced that anything has changed. Not in the written form. When MSC publish changes I will get excited.
RCCL changed packages post purchase last year and we got more than we originally paid for...

The written version looks almost identical to the one I booked last year for this November. I interpret the non inclusion of bottled wines and sparkling wine as bottled sparkling sparking wine. I am fully expecting glasses of prosecco on bar and dining lists.
BUT the OP says the changes were explained verbally. Perhaps the OP can explain further what was said as I for one would be VERY upset not to have sparkling wine

Be careful what you wish for. They upgraded us to a fantastica cabin two floors up but directly under the dining room on the opposite side of the ship which is not suitable for somebody that does not like a lot of noise. This was done without our knowledge and took a number of calls to get put back to our original cabin. Keep an eye on your booking if you have selected a particular cabin as you may find you have been 'upgraded' already.

Wîth Costa we had a ship basic cheap bus transfer into Marseille. A lovely old port complemented with great modern architecture on the port side in the form of massive outdoor public market roof in steel. Good Roman ruins under cover walking distance in port free? and walled fort and art museum. Free WiFi in tourist office. Get ice lollipops in packs at little supermarket and your done!

I am interested to, travelling on Musica in November.....I am a Costa fan so love European style cruising but any information on Musica would great ad this our first MSC trip. Day activities, evening shows?
-
Thanks Pete, super, I am looking forward to my first balcony cocktail from the my package already...
-
Musica 10221 Bella balcony? Does it have a glass balcony or is it in the metal structure at the rear of the ship? Looking at the pictures I was assuming glass but any information would be comforting.

The only reason why I might buy (and I have in the past bought) obc in advance is because on some cruise lines the exchange rate between Home currency and ship currency is kept constant for some months , the exchange happens at the time of purchase and it can lead to real savings in terms of currency exchange rates. Clearly in the case of MSC this is not going to be the case you say they only exchange at the beginning of the cruise.
Thank you for the information to assist my decision and hopefully I have answered your question at the same time.

I am on a grand voyage from Venice and assumed that the ship account would be in Euro.
I just looked at the customise section of manage my booking and it says that I can buy amounts in British Pounds. It does not give a Euro equivalent.
For anyone in the know, how does this work out when using the credit on the ship.

Hi Heather be great news you came to Jersey in the 80s. That is spooky as I have just finished as a volunteer runner on a film for a local museum which is going to be called Bergerac's Island, Jersey in the 1980s or something similar. If you get a chance to visit Jersey this year you can come and see the lovely exhibition on the top floor of our museum in the Weighbridge area. It will bring back all sorts of memories for you. I was chosen because I too was there in the 80s indeed I was Miss St Mary 198O for one of our local small parishes. Reluctantly I might add!

Heather thank you for your reply. We will look at the wine lists and take a view when we board as wether or not to upgrade. We sail in February from Sydney which adds further complications as the limits are higher anyway on the Australia based cruises!
-
Thanks James, yes we could upgrade but only drink wine and beer generally. I hope they increase the limit to mirror the price increases as if they don't it will reduced the wines available to the package. It may get forgotten now the package is just running until it ceases. Anyone out there on select with experience of the current 'live' limits and if they are in line with recent price increases?
-
I have a select built into my cruise deal, hence my question. I am advised that it will be honoured so I am really interested in the effect of the price increases. Is anyone on a ship on a select package that can answer my question?
-
Does anybody have any experience of using the select drinks package after the recent increases in drinks prices?
I would be particularly interested to know if the package limits have been increased in line with the increase in prices for the beer and especially the wine prices on board ship.
Any first hand experience would be most welcome.
-
Keeping the $8 limit for wine and paying extra for the difference now the prices have increased seems mean..Is any one cruising with the select package that can confirm this?
-
I was planning NOT to upgrade my select package and stick to wine and beer. Does anyone have any 'live' information on what the price increases mean for this 'old' package. Has the price limit per glass increased in line. I am beginning to worry that there will be little if any wines available under the terms of the package.

Can anyone help?

Kimmy I did get onto the MSC site and that sailing on the Preziosa doesn't look like it is there. There are some earlier cruises on her in the 5 Plus 15 percent category. Assuming you meant 2017.

Not sure we are allowed to post websites but...I searched a well known engine for 'selection departures MSC xxxxxxxxxx' and it was 3 or 4 on the list. If you include the date of your cruise is may get a bit closer. It it is a voyagers club cruise it will have s paragraph a way down the page saying..Selection Departures for MSC Members.

When we booked the cruise we had not status matched yet so we were only classic members at the time of booking. After we received the status match, I realized that our cruise was one that qualified for the $50 OBC pp. When I called the travel agent to inquire, she called MSC and was told that we needed to go to guest services upon boarding the ship so our onboard account could be credited.
I have just booked and subsequently got my status match. I advised our TA that our cruise was one that qualified for the additional discount over the usual 5 percent and the additional 50Euro obc pp. She contacted MSC and after a short back and forth sent us a revised invoice with full discounts and we were told as it was a qualifying cruise as a gold member we would automatically get the 50 Euro obc on boarding. It would not be on the invoice. Great news all round. Just take a copy of the cruise details from the voyages selection cruises page in the club member's pages online, if you can log in....I too am having problems with that ...but there are other sites that have them listed.

Does anyone know if Musica is in dry dock mid November?
-
I was beginning to worry there.. I have only had the select package on a China to China cruise and as they say here 'that was a whole other kettle of fish' The select was cheaper than normal on that one and I could not remember if we had sparking wine in the price range.
-
Are there any sparkling wines affordable on the select drinks package. Australian cruise and non Australian cruises? I just want to set my expectations ...
