  1. There was a previous thread about this. Some people said that the machine puts out more powder for one cup than one packet's worth if you were making it at home, and that's why it's so much richer. Is that true??? I don't know. But it sure is tasty! :D

  2. We will be in Ft. Lauderdale on Jan 1, pre-cruise, staying at the Best Western Oceanside. Would most restaurants be open for lunch and/or dinner? Are there any moderately priced, casual dining options within walking distance? That translates to 5 or 6 blocks one way. Is there a better option on the bus route that goes past this hotel? The only ethnic food my DH will eat is Italian. A nice sandwich shop or deli will work as well.

I stayed up the street at the Courtyard Marriott Beach back in September. There was a really tasty place that had pizza and pasta. It's right past Bubba Gumps (heading north). I can't remember then name, though. We had dessert one night at the Oasis Cafe. It was OK.

  3. Been away awhile so jsut now hearing about all of this. I will be saving some money room in my luggage by not buying and packing clothes for elegant night, I guess. There is nothing at all on the elegant night menu I would eat. Last trip, I had the prime rib, and it was awful. Don't like lobster, have no desire to eat bass.

  4. We are staying for 2 nights after our cruise at the Riverside hotel in FLL. If we stay 3 nights our air will be less yet will need to pay for the hotel. What I wonder is if their is enough to do and see in FLL for 3 nights or 2 is perfect. We don't swim or go to the beach. We like to see all the sights and attractions. My felling is that 2 nights is what I need to do yet I love Cruise Critics point of view. Also would you recommend any trip for the 3rd day, out side of FLL? Thanks

We just went out on the Carrie B boat cruise, which is right at the Riverside Hotel, so I would recommend that. We enjoyed it pretty well.

Or, you could do the dinner cruise deal on the Jungle Queen. That sounded pretty neat, but we didn't have time to do that one.

  5. I just got these in teh mail today:

I got them on sale for 29.99, and they are even cheaper now, darn it! :p My right foot is very, very comfy in it (just worn in the house so far). Can't judge my left because I am having problems and have to go to the doc about it. Hopefully if he can get it fixed, it should be comfy on it, too.

Sure wish my knees and feet could handle a wedge, becasue I'd sure love to get these:

    Only $19.99!!!!

  6. You can stay at Hyatt Place for $99 through valuetrips.

My reservation thru them is $109/night. I'm guessing it's because they are charging an extra $10 for our third person.

I was thinking of switching to the Embassy, but I missed the Groupon deal I found. If I find a good deal before we leave (Labor ?Day weekend), I will switch.

  7. Thank you for the information...

oh that sounds kinda interesting...have to see what flights they was showing us for west palm beach airport again. ...it is our return flight home...so no hurry. How far from the ship would you pick this tri-rail up? Thanks again! :)

www.tri-rail.com is the website. It shows all the schedules, maps, etc. You would leave from the Ft Lauderdale station, not hte airport one.

There are free shuttles, but it doens't look like any go all the way to the port. Looking at a map. I'm guessing from the port to the tri-rail stop couldn't be longer than a ride to the airport.

  8. Can someone tell me how far the West Palm Beach airport is from the Ft. Lauderdale port? Also if how much the taxi would be from the cruise port to the airport? thank you,

It's like 50 miles. I'm guessing that a taxi would not be cheap.

If you ahve the time, you could take the tri-rail to the Ft Lauderdale station and catch a cab there. The tri-rail fare would be like $6 each.

  9. Does anyone know how late the water taxi might run in the summer? The current schedule on their site is winter hours. I will be there Labor Day weekend and am trying to decide if we do the after 5 discount pass if we can see all we want to see.

I'm trying to save what I can since we are coming in on Saturday for a cruise that leaves on Monday from POM. Our flight arrives at FLL at 1:09 PM (give or take :) ). Don't know if we are renting a car or not as rates right now are way higher than I want to pay. I'm hoping we can do the water taxi that day ASAP after 5 ($13 vs $20) and then use the Sun Trolley on Sunday.
