  1. I believe the only ones that are restricted on the Royal are the completely forward facing premium mini-suites and deluxe balconies on the Marina and Lido deck.

Yes, not very many of them, maybe 8. It does state that in red when you look at the details of the cabins on the deck plans shown on the website.

We have that category booked for a coming cruise, and are hoping for a cabin on the lower deck and on the side, or better yet, a visit from the upgrade fairy;).

  2. We're booked and paid in full for our 1st TA and celebrating our 45th anniversary. Selected this sailing to return to some places we've enjoyed, see new things, and meet the lovely people we've shared the past year with on CC. We also love the food, the great martini's, and the wonderful crew members who serve us all.

We've found that when you look for good things and nice people, you tend to find them.

Hope you all find what you're looking for on the Royal.

  3. My favorites:

    The Toasted Almond Martini

I wanted to try that one, but there were so many other new ones I tried and liked that I never got that far down the list.

Chairman of the Board and Japanese Slipper were just 2 of my new faves.

  4. Limoncello...don't forget to take the glass

Eggplant..I'll have it as my entree please. Perhaps I shouldn't have the alfredo appetizer with it...well...maybe just a little

Spicy mussels with a side of pasta and wonderful rolls to enjoy the heavenly broth...Limoncello with this for sure

    Pizza

Scalloped potatoes and creamed spinach at the Crown Grille

Some of those lovely little sandwiches at the International Cafe..what the heck, they're small, put 2 on there please. It's a long time until dinner.

  5. Thought I would post this for fellow cruisers, I was at Coconut Beach last week. We were on the Emerald Princess. Arrived in Antigua, negotiated a taxi rate of $24.00 one way for six people in the same van. It took about ten minutes to get to Coconut Beach. When we arrived there were not enough lounge chairs on the beach for all of us. The people who were staying at the resort for several days had already reserved them all. So we spoke with the manager and she brought more loungers out for us. The beach is beautiful, no rocks on the bottom, smooth sandy bottom. Water was warm and refreshing. The beach is in a private cove so no one is walking by that is not a customer of Coconut Beach. There is an infinity pool next to the bar. The lunch was delicious and enjoyed by everyone. Saw many people getting up for seconds. The staff were very friendly. Restrooms were CLEAN! It was a wonderful day. The bar did not have a lot of different types of liquor, just the basics. Beer and rum punch were plentiful. There are no waiters that bring drinks directly to your chair (as at Nachi Cocum in Cozumel), you have to get up and walk to the bar. The cruise port is just around the corner from the beach so you can see other cruise ships coming and going by the beach. The Coconut Beach Resort was high on my list of favorite stops on this cruise, second only to Barbados. For $45.00 you can't go wrong !

We are sailing on the Emerald in April...so excited!

Have you posted on the other port threads for each of the stops? I'd love to hear what you did at each one.:)

  6. 5326jan: After that, we have a couple days at Rehoboth Beach - a very cool seaside town with very good restaurants....oh yeah, and fun resort-style clothing stores:cool:...I will be planning outfits for that trip!

Glad I am keeping up with this thread. Your mention of Rehoboth Beach reminded me that DH and I had talked about doing a day trip there in August.

I'm sure I'll spot something I "NEED" for my cruise/Florida/summer closet.

  7. sssteele: I attended a jewelry party recently at a friend's home. The "jeweler" wore several lovely pieces.

Just wondering what type of jewelry party. Can always use a new piece or two and what you saw might be available in my area.

I'm a bit slow I guess. Took a while for me to notice the "Indiana" is PA. Our son and daughter-in-law are IUP grads and our grandson is currently at their culinary school.

Thanks for reminding me about the tux rental for DH. I'll look into that, but not sure if he'll go for it since he is usually a dark suit, shirt and tie guy. Always looks really great  and I co-ordinate colors with my cocktail dress.

  8. sssteele: Dealing with weight restrictions isn't fun, but it IS reality and we must make the best of it.

I attended a jewelry party recently at a friend's home. The "jeweler" wore several lovely pieces. Early in her presentation, she took off all the jewelry and had on only black pants and a white shirt. She looked like a waitress! The jewelry made the outfit memorable and fun.

That's my suggestion to you. Your pieces are basic and will mix & match easily. The key to making it all stand out and look fresh and different is the jewelry you choose as an accent. I'm not talking about high-end gems, gold and silver - but costume jewelry. It would fit in a carry-on.

Suggestion for your DH for Formal Nights: Rent a tux in advance of sailing. Royal Caribbean does a great job of having the correct size and getting it to your stateroom on Day 1. I would guess other cruise lines do the same. It saves packing space for sure and eliminates sending a suit & shirt to be pressed.

I hope others who post here will offer their suggestions, too.

Thanks for your reply. I do have quite a few pieces of striking/bold costume jewelry, mostly earrings, since I normally have my hair short.

I also plan to have a scarf or pashmina with me most of the time. Love the color they add to a plain shirt and jacket.

I'm thinking it could be smart to have a lightweight pair of leather gloves and an umbrella.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  9. I've read bits and pieces of this thread, and believe I have come to the right place for help.

DH and I will be going to Italy (Rome, Tuscany and Venice) for 9 night land tour followed by 8 night Med on Royal Caribbean followed by 13 night transatlantic. This will be in October/November of this year.

We will fly into Rome and will be limited by weight regulations and the land tour will limit us also.

I'm thinking I have to go with the basics and limit my colors so I can mix it up. Maybe jeans, casual black slacks, dressy black slacks, black skirt, along with T-necks/tanks in my go-to colors of black, white, red, royal blue, and silver. Maybe 2 print cardigans and plain black knit blazer type jacket. Also crisp, no iron white blouse. Black trench coat, jean jacket and vest in red, black and white. The vest reverses to just black and white. I have several floaty tops (think Chico's) in great prints-mostly black and white with a pop of color. Black Merrills for walking, black Jambu shoes in black leather with black patent leather trim, black heels and something ultra comfy for on the ship. Will also take bathing suit and cover-up and 2 workout outfits.

Not sure about formal nights, not such a problem for me, but hauling what DH needs could be a bit of a struggle.

Any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated. I have silver/white hair, blue eyes, and medium to light complexion. I am going to be 62 at the time of the trip and am about a size 8/10 and I'm just under 5'.

    Thanks
