  1. In New York State anything over $600 is reported on a 1099-G, or should I say we lottery agents can only pay to $600 then you have to go to a lottery office for anything above that.

At our recent slot pull on the Jewel, Pat asked if there were any Europeans doing the pull with us. She said they don't have to pay taxes on it.

I'm in total agreement that you are in international waters so why are you paying taxes on winnings? Which then brings the question of, if you're forcing taxes to be paid on winnings, why are you not allowing ships to immediately open their casinos in U.S. waters????

For NCL being tight, my DH walked away about a grand to the good on the Jewel. I lost about $40 but was breaking even until the last night. DH and his friend weren't feeling any pain when they waltz into the casino (last night). DH puts $100 in the Wheel of Fortune machine, pulls the darn thing twice and hits $250!!!! Drunker than a skunk and he hits, while I was hitting the buttons all week saying pay out, pay out. Go figure.

I heard that some guy sat down at the Wheel of Fortune machine we used for our slot pull a few days later and on his very last quarter (he only bet one credit) he hit the jackpot. Since he didn't play max bet he got $2,500 instead of $20,000. But, like I said, I HEARD it, I didn't witness it.

I think it just comes down to whether or not it's your lucky day.

  2. Definitely a must for first aid items!!!! My SIL took a bad spill in Bermuda (she actually fractured her foot). I hit the gift shop for neosporin and bandaids --whew!!! but she needed for some nasty cuts.

I had wicked heartburn and some acid reflux last cruise and I was lucky my SIL was carrying some pepcid otherwise that would have been costly. Would recommend carrying rolaids or tums for mild heartburn relief.

As one other poster said if you buy too much you wind up buying something to carry your stuff. We usually use one large suitcase for me and hubby and last year I put a smaller suitcase inside of it. That way I had one completely empty suitcase to bring home anything we bought. This year the second suitcase is going to carry some soda for all of us and it will serve as a spare for bringing home stuff again.

Any my goodness cannot stress enough ---sunscreen

you would not believe how many fair skinned whiter than white people sit out around the pools the first day and that night they look like the lobster special.

  3. What everyone said was great! Some absolutes for us to bring, is a VERY good box of chocolates and a couple battery operated candles for a glow in the room at night and my Ipod and the little portable speakers...Nice for a little romance...We eat our chocolates, have a drink and...well, ya know... whatever happens next is up to you...;)

and as second poster said don't forget BIRTH CONTROL:D

  4. Spirit 2006, looking for a quiet place to sit. Next thing you know these two people take the stage and start entertaining. We NEVER made it to a theater show. They spoke to us between sets, bought their CD (have it on my IPOD). They are not to miss. Their 60's show fantastic and, while I'm not the greatest of Neil Diamond fans, Jose nails him.

If anyone has the chance to see them, you won't be disappointed. They do have people that follow them on ships as well. We spoke to a couple that book based on what ship they are on.

This is standing just outside our cabin door 5207 and extending to end of cabin 5205 starboard side? (I'm still getting hang of portside, starboard, etc). Both are basic balcony cabins, wanted to show what they look like with partition open. DH and his best friend were doing their best to deplete the Coors light inventory:D

Although we've only been on 3 Spirit class ships, all the balcony cabins among the various classes seem to be the same. Will say these balconies would be too small for a lounger though I would have loved to try and squeeze one out there. I have a pic of hubby sleeping in the chair (he could sleep on a nail I think) but he'd kill me:D
