  1. We like coki better, as we have found it much less crowded than megans bay. As far as snorkeling, on the left side of the beach near the rocks, is a great place to snorkel at coki. You can rent a snorkel for $5 and they give you dog biscuits which the fish will come up to and nibble right out of your hand. They take your id at the dive shop so you bring back the snorkel. Passport, leave on the ship....you are still im the usa. Money, buy a lanyard that holds money, boarding card, etc. They sell waterproof cases on line.

  2. We just spoke to some friends who got back the week before christmas, and they also confirmed that there was a lack of formalness on formal nights. I was having the feeling that because there were 500 kids on board for our thanksgiving cruise that the rules were relaxed. This is now the norm as I understand it.

  3. Sorry folks but this is a cruise board, not a Con Law board. Several off topic posts have been removed.

    Thanks Walt,

My point from the beginning was and still is the fact that the staff on board should be armed with ammunition to uphold the dress code which is posted on line, in the cruise documents, and should be inserted into the daily paper that is in your stateroom nightly......or the cruise line should rethink their policies.

I have a perfect example of a policy change similar to what celebrity has in effect. I belong to the masons and the reason that I own 2+ tuxedos or as my wife calls them penguin suits, so I brought one on our cruise. Our grand lodge in Pennsylvania got a lot of feedback a few years ago from our members and in turn the removed the tie requirement for our members. A lot of the older members balked at the loosening of the rules, but gave in to the policy change. Celebrity should do one of 3 things...a. keep the dress code and police it. B...change the dress code to something less formal. C...keep the current dress code and not police it, make it suggested only. I would be fine with any of the 3 choices as long as they do something.

    CELEBRITY DO SOMETHING.

  4. We usually cruise with Princess, so this will be new for us. Could someone walk us through the boarding process for Celebrity Reflection in Miami? (We will be in a suite.)

    Thanks!

    1. Go to the port.

    2. Give your luggage to a porter.

    3. Follow line for suite guests.

    4. Present your passports, and have your picture taken.

    5. Go on board.

    6. Get a drink.

    7. Repeat step 6.

It took us 20 minutes to complete steps 1-6. No problems.

  5. It was great, we ate there on the san juan night.

You make your own flat breads [pizza] which ard a lot better than the pizza served in the buffet. The salad bar is really nice, and was filled up often during our meal. The waiter was very helpful with us ordering our main course. We each ordered something different and the waiter also brought extra items for the table to share. We ate fillet, lamb chops, rib eye, shrimp and scallops, and our favorite item, the veal chop. The best dessert on our whole vacation was the chocolate chip cookie. I want one just thinking about it.

    Enjoy,

    MY PREDICTION:

The next stage (whenever that is implemented) of Celebrity's Formal Nights will be worded as follows:

Evening dress code: Smart Casual / Formal Optional - For those who would like to dress formally, tonight is the night to bring out your formal wear and dress to the nines for your evening pleasure.. Smart Casual, as always, is also completely acceptable.

    Rick,

    My thoughts exactly.

I wonder if celebrity is hiring for their pr department, you should apply.

  7. You obviously did not understand the point I am making. Yes there are those who go overboard either way, that always happens on these stupid threads. It is the people who come on, contribute nothing of value and criticize those who are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Again, I don't care what people wear and it will not have any effect on my enjoyment of a cruise. I just wish Celebrity would either enforce their dress code or get rid of it but they are making money off pictures and specialty restaurants so that will not happen anytime soon.

    Thanks Don,

This is the exact point that I was originally trying to make when I originally started this thread. I had zero problem getting dressed up for the formal night, as seen by me dressing in my tuxedo, but celebrity should enforce their own policy. It would have been much easier to pack another golf shirt or 2 for all 7 casual nights rather than pack a tuxedo. I tried to conform to their policy because it is their policy.

  8. On the dress code madness, Celebrity's doing a well balanced job trying to balance together the entitled primidona's with the colorful personalities.

I'm never surprised with the posters here and the OP really takes the cake.

Can you imagine someone actually taking the Maitre d through the MDR and pointing out all "those people" who don't measure up to his wacked out perspective and then on the very next night show up wearing shorts and flip flops??

Hopefully the luggage arrived with all the Meds. :D:D:D

Have a safe trip back to earth.......WOW.....talk about missing the boat.

  9. So, do you think the idea was to actually make you have a long wait for the premium vodka hoping you'll just give up and go with the bar brand due to no wait? Everything I'm reading from the last two cruises this seems to be the case.

That's basically what happened, but how do you substitute diet coke?

  10. Here is some more.

123 drink package.....We all had the classic drink package free with our reservations, but 4 of us upgraded to the premium package. We felt that the fact that you get water and are able to get the fancy drinks in the martini bar was worth the upgrade. From the time we got on board, we noticed that almost every bar on board had more people waiting to get a drink than bartenders to get the drinks. When we first got on board, we went to the buffet to eat lunch and a bar server asked us what we would like to drink and after we ordered our drinks, we went up to get our food. We were on dessert by the time he came back with our drinks. FYI..you have to present your card each and every time you order a drink, and they swipe it in the computer. Sure there were times that you could find an emptier bar, but for the most part, there was usually a wait for a drink. The bar staff on this ship was not anywhere as attentive as on past cruises. Here are a few examples of what I mean....we went to the show in the reflection theater and we never saw servers in there to get you a drink. In the mdr, the bar servers had to be flagged down to get you a drink. Here is my biggest complaint about the bar...... as the week went on, bars on board would run out of something and then never get it again. On the second to last day, a sea day, the casino bar ran out of grey goose vodka, then they ran out of most other premium brand of vodka, while other bars, including the martini bar around the corner, had plenty in stock. The bar staff was stretched way too thin, and couldn't even take the time to go to get more alcohol to restock. By the last few days, diet coke was a commodity and a challenge to find, they ran out of in the mdr bar by day 5. The last night of the cruise, I asked for a bottle of water, and all they had left were the tiny little bottles of warm evian. I felt that as the cruise went on, the bar staff was getting worn down and their attitudes suffered.

  11. Sailing on Reflection in April with 2 friends. We have a hump c cabin too. Would you mind telling us your cabin #? How many were in your cabin? How was the storage? Looking forward to reading the rest of your review.

We had 2166 and 2171, and we had 2 in each cabin. We had plenty of storage, just thought the sofa was really close to the closet.

  12. I appreciate all the input, but my biggest issue was not the people who were not dressed up, but rather the attitude of the mdr staff. This comes down from the the top, as we had our cruise critic gathering on the morning after the 1st formal night and the food and beverage manager attended our get together. A few of us asked him about this same issue, and he responded that they took a survey and the overwhelming amount of people wanted to keep the formal nights. We told him about what we saw the previous night and he told us that they can't be the fashion police in the mdr. We then asked him why then have a dress code of a jacket and he told us it's really hard to police. Our whole group agreed that we were on vacation and should get dressed comfortably as long as we didn't offend. We then brought up the pictures and revenue and wecwere told that money has a lot to do with what happens on board.
