  1. The promo we received was "Christmas in July". Received a large amount of money off plus free air.. Air out of LAX runs 1800.00 pp. We've be looking for this itinerary for a year, on Viking, AMA, and Avalon and Vantage, and could not beat this rate.

I first booked my hotel thru Hotels.com, canceled that and now I'm booked with Travelocity. They had a special.. I always book a refundable room as the prices are always changing.

  2. Hi Steve,

We have cruised over 40 times, try to stay on Celebrity as we get many perks.

We also received a discount as my friends cruised on the splendor a couple of years ago. I paid the fee to custom our air as they did not have the extension for Budapest. I have made my own hotel reservations and have booked a private guide for 2 days. I wanted to make sure we saw the city without any hassles. We did get a great deal, and received free air from LAX and decided to pay in full to receive their 10% additional discount. Made sure the insurance we purchased did have default, since we had to pay by echeck.

Really excited to stay in Budapest. We didn't extend our trip in Amstrdam, as we have been there a few times.

  3. My husband and I are on the Splendor, Budapest to Amsterdam on May 31st. We are staying 2 additional nites in Budapest prior to boarding. This is our first river cruise and looking forward to it. Have you been on the splendor? Would love to know the ins and out of Vantage and the boat.

    Thanks, Elaine

  4. I seem to be an optimist among this crowd, but I seriously don't believe that we're facing any global cataclysm that would so disrupt travel that a company like Vantage would disappear. Vantage is a US-based (Boston) company that offers a wide variety of travel products.

When I booked, one received a 10% discount for paying a year in advance. I don't know of too many investments that have a guaranteed 10% return these days. Like any investment, there is risk, but I was more than comfortable with assuming that risk.

I just booked and paid in full to,save a huge amount of money. I did buy insurance that does cover default of the company. Had to pay an additional fee, maybe $20.00 for the coverage. It also includes terrorism. I cover all bases.

If a company is in financial trouble the insurance company would not cover that travel company.

  5. I just returned from a TA to Spain. We used Spain Day Tours (TopDayTours).

They are very professional and very reliable. If you happen to take the Malaga to Granada tour and the Cadiz to Seville tour and your guide is Debbie, you are in for a treat. She is very informative and personable. I highly recommend this company.

  6. I returned from our Hawaii 15 day cruise. We parked at the San Diego Airport Parking, for the 15 days.. When we picked the car up we noticed paint spots on the door and a dent, probably caused by the car parked next to us.. After bringing the damage to the attention of the person on duty, I filed a report and they took pictures, I was told they would contact us in 72 hours and take care of the situation. After a week no one contacted us, we called and were advised that we would be contact in the next few days. Again, after a week we called them again, we finally contact Lisa, of customer service rep., and was told there was nothing they would do.. I strongly advise anyone who has a NICE car, do not park at sdap.

  7. We are due to cruise the Baltic with Princess at the end of the month I have just read two member reviews which mention DenRus tours I was wondering if anyone had any information about them. We are particulary interested in St Petersburg.

We are first time cruisers and were wondering if we would be disadvantaged by not booking the ship tour which is much more expensive.

Thank you very much any advice.

We were on the Tahitian (Ocean) Princess last year & used SPB Tours. They were wonderful to work with. The company secures a group visa so it is included in the price of the tour. Don't worry about Princess notifying you that you are not able to disembark St. Petes early. We got off the ship at 7:30am and our guide was waiting for us just past immigration. Princess CANNOT hold you back. It was easy. The independent tour is much better, we only had 10 in our group. We were able to get into all the museums & palaces without a hitch. Lunches in local restaurants were the best. Good luck & have a wonderful adventure.:)
