Does anyone know definitively about the future of Qsine on Summit? We're cruising February 2020 and have reservations and are wondering which version to expect - the traditional Qsine or Petite Chef. Lots and lots of conflicting reports. I know that it DID NOT become Petite Chef during the Revolution, but some continue to report that the change-over is still planned.

If Celebrity cancelled all future ship builds and Virgin added 1 new ship every 18 months it would take about 17 years to make a definitive apples for apples comparison.

And currently, all their itineraries are five day voyages - not even to particularly interesting places. To the person who said the prices were high, I noticed when I looked them up that they price per cabin, not per person, so that does make a difference. At this point, I don't see any itineraries I'd be interested in, but I wouldn't necessarily count them out.

Fun, but difficult question! Wow! Like others, I will caveat that these are in no particular order. All are Caribbean.

Dominica:

Treasures of Rouseau tour with Levi from Bumpiing Tours. Will be doing a different tour with him on my next cruise.

St. Kitts:

My Island Tour with Javin. I've visited St. Kitts three times and loved all my tours there, but Javin's was the best.

Roatan:

Booked a day at Fantasy Island (I think it was through Viator or similar agency). My son and I had an awesome day. We were left with lots of great photos and videos of the friendly monkeys. 

St. Croix:

Big Beard's full day catamaran excursion to Buck Island. Yes, I know this is four. I tried, but I just couldn't eliminate any of these!!!

I didn't list because it's not technically an excursion, but we also really love ferrying over to St. John when docked in St. Thomas. So beautiful there. Saving up to go there for a week! One of the many things on my bucket list!!

Thanks for that update. I have reservations for Qsine on our February 2020 cruise. I just went to my cruise planner and it's still showing the OLD Qsine, including the menu. I hope as more people go on Summit - particularly after August based on your waiter's comment - they will report back. I'll be happy with either version, but would like to know.

I could be mistaken, but aren't the new beds larger? There probably is less floor space as a result.

Thanks so much! I have plenty of time. Not cruising on Summit until February 2020, but still very excited!! Have a GREAT cruise!

Those of you on Summit soon, would love to know for certain if Qsine is still the original menu, as is the case with Millennium, or the Petit Chef, or some combination of the two.

And for those of you who are technically inclined, would LOVE to see the dailies!

Agreed. I'm very much looking forward to my February 2020 cruise on Summit. I understand changes to old favorites are difficult. I'm trying Celebrity for the first time after Royal, and it was difficult for me to give up old favorites like mini-golf on a windy day at sea and the 70s party. But I'm sure I'll find things to become my favorite things about Celebrity. I'm approaching it with a totally open mind! 🙂

I'm also a fan of Antigua. I read on another thread on this topic that it had to do with increased port fees, perhaps due to the port upgrade you mentioned. I believe it only pertains to Carnival ships. There are a few ports of call in the Caribbean where I know I need to be particularly vigilant about safety, but I never considered Antigua to be among those. Never had any fear or issues on that island.

I did exactly the same thing. I'm on Summit as well. Wish I'd known before going through the entire process to set up the app!

Nevis doesn't sound right. St. Kitts maybe? I don't think a mainstream cruise ship could dock at Nevis. I like Antigua. Have been there a couple of times and always really enjoyed it. Sounds like this is strictly a Carnival move?

Excellent news! My Summit cruise is February 2020, which is AFTER the upgrade. This is HUGE as far as I'm concerned! 

My next cruise is on the Revolutionized Summit. I'm hoping this pertains to that ship.

Still hoping for updates on Qsine, as I'll be on Summit post-Revolution and currently have reservations. It sounds like it will remain the original Qsine, rather than the Le Petit Chef change-over that was publicized in releases describing the Revolution. I'm really fine with either version, but curious. 

I gave my then boyfriend/now husband a cruise as a birthday gift. Kind of hard to refuse a hugely generous gift! He loves cruising now!

SOUTHERN:

I recommend southern, but then I am a fan of port-intensive itineraries. I used to think flying to San Juan would be too expensive/time-consuming. However, for us it's not that much further than Miami. It IS more costly, but comparing similar itineraries, going out of San Juan is often cheaper. Ships also depart at 8:30PM, which - depending on your location and time of year - makes a same day flight feasible. The ports in the southern Caribbean are varied - some really natural with very little development and some very touristy. Some are flat and some mountainous. I like that. 

EASTERN:

Eastern is really just the most northern ports of the southern Caribbean (such as St. Thomas or St. Maarten) with a couple of "throw-away" ports tossed in, like Nassau, Key West or the cruise line's private island. Eastern itineraries typically include an abundance of sea days.

WESTERN:

You'll typically hit more ports on a western itinerary than an eastern. Difficult to do western more than once because there are so few ports, you'd just hit them again and again. A common joke about cruising is that you know you're a cruise addict when you can no longer remember how many times you've been to Cozumel! Western itineraries typically include Cozumel (or Costa Maya) Mexico and Grand Cayman, with islands like Belize, Roatan and Jamaica sometimes thrown in. Western would be my second choice, particularly one of the itineraries that include Roatan and/or Belize, because that gives you a lot of port variety.

Yes, we're on Summit in February 2020 and have Qsine booked. Would love to know for SURE which version of the restaurant it will be. I've heard that Millie still features the original (no LPC), but have also heard that it will ultimately switch over and also that it might have a rotating schedule with LPC only one or two nights with the standard Qsine experience the other nights. Hoping to someday have a definitive answer. I booked at $45, so that may indicate the old version of Qsine.

Agreed. My upcoming itinerary had a port change back in October. The site continues to offer excursions for sale related to the ORIGINAL port of call. I've reported it to the company twice, by phone. I wonder what happens if you purchase a trip to Virgin Gorda and the Baths when the ship is docked in St. Thomas! I suspect some cruisers might not even notice. Heck...they are both Virgin Islands. Nightmare.

Hmmmm...I reserved for February 2020 and did so at the old price of $45. Would not have reserved at $60!! YIKES! I'll be happy with either version of Qsine, but am super curious to know which it will be!!

Adding my thanks and also asking about Qsine. Any idea whether it will remain the old style menu, convert to Le Petit Chef, or some combination of the two?

I'm on the same itinerary in February 2020 and only recently found out about the itinerary change. Ironically, nearly ALL the excursions listed for sale in "St. Thomas" on the Celebrity website actually show Tortola excursions. (Virgin Gorda and the Baths, Snorkeling at Norman Island...) We're not disappointed because we really like taking the ferry over to St. John, which we'll do again this time.
